And since I, probably like others too, believed she had some time of credibility in something after seeing one or two videos where she obviously knew something was dangerous, like one where a baby was in a little floating donut in a large pool and no one holding onto them, but honestlg I thought it was JUST some type of joke, not her giving real advice on things

She’s just a mom, why does she think being a mom makes her an expert on everything? When you give birth, you don’t leave the hospital with a certificate saying “I know everything now bc I’m a mom and I know best” like get real. Idk why she can’t think critically and realize “oh I messed up, what they said is not rude, they’re just informing me” instead she thinks it’s an attack and harassment. Like no, relax. It’s called discourse. God ignorant people make my blood boil.

Right? As a parent you’re an expert in YOUR kid(s) - NOT all of child safety. Meaning you know your kid best: you know what foods they like, what time is best for them to go to sleep, what sports they enjoy, what games they like, their favorite movie, their doctors name, their best friends name, etc. You do NOT automatically become an expert in car seats, safe sleep, child education etc. Like common sense come on.

At my wits end w/ the whole 'bully movement'. 100% over it.
Parents, administrators, etc., who push the idea have lost the plot. Great deal of essentially placing 'blame' on another as opposed to first attempting to employ critical thinking, reason & diplomacy skills. Screaming 'bully' seems to now be above the importance of building a child's esteem. Or providing the child w/ a solid emotional & psychological foundation to build upon so they at least have a chance to know who they are w/ confidence. Guess that's old fashioned, these days? They're actively building castles made of sand w/ foundations laid w/ delicate egos. 😏

@@GemmiRiseacting as if the attack on critical thinking is new is just absurd, I'm sorry. Mom cliques are not new and if anything, other women have way more sympathy and understanding for one another now.
Back in the day they'd just freeze you out if you dared to "bully" or call them out on their inability to parent their child who is actually the one bullying other kids.
The only difference is that we now have the internet and people have way more mom's to connect with and all of the old wives tales are dying out because...we have the research and data to back up our claims.
People like this chick have and likely will always exist, they're just a lot more visible now and have a platform to use. But unlike how it was back then, we can actually go watch the videos of the guy who "bullied" her to see that it's BS🤷🏽‍♀️

I've been a parent 10yrs, my youngest is 8, and I still to this day ring my friend who is a nurse to ask for advice when my daughters sick. Sometimes it's not even advice, it's just me going over her symptoms, what I'm doing and just getting that support and feedback from a professional. I'm completely aware that, because of her training, my friend will be able to see things I don't. Like last year, I told her my child had a stomach ache on and off, but it was getting worse, she got on the phone with me immediately and walked me through this little reflex test to make sure it wasn't an emergency situation, it wasn't, but she heard the symptoms I'd described and knew there was a way to check for something more serious, I didn't previously know this. I followed her advice, monitored my child, thankfully it started to get better over night and the next day we went to the GP. Long story I know, but my point is I didn't train to be a parent, I read as much as I could but I'm certainly not an expert on any particular thing, which is why when someone is certified, especially in such a controlled program like nursing or medical doctorate, damn straight that's who I'm going to listen to and ask questions of and learn from.

I can't keep the disgust I have for this woman out of my comments anymore. She's vile. Back when I was big into book blogging and was on Bookstagram, I found out I was following somebody who was a right wing ultra conservative religious nut. I followed them for their NaNoWriMo content and didn't really care much about their other posts unless it was a book I read.
One day, I woke up to a lot of my followers on Instagram sending me links to this person's recent posts with questions on whether I supported what they were saying. One of their posts was of a picture of the Nazi book burnings in 1933 with an incoherent rant condemning the fact that books written by people of colour, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and by religions outside of their Christian denomination were being published with calls that they should be destroyed alongside the authors who have written them.
To say I was disgusted would be an understatement. I quickly unfollowed them and posted an apology to my followers. I did not like any of their disgusting posts. What really grinds my gears is she knows the rhetoric around vaccines and autism, because iirc one of her kids does have autism.
She goes on about wanting to make them feel comfortable after receiving vaccines (because admittedly afterwards you can feel pain in the injection site and get a bit of cold like symptoms). She uses a vaccine "detox" bath supplement that is completely unregulated and could hurt her kids (apparently the product is made in the owners kitchen of all places). She could just as easily get a fun scented bubble bath and bath bomb of the kids choice to make them feel comfortable and loved after getting a vaccine. But she chooses to use a detox which is extremely sketchy and to support a business that likely holds beliefs about vaccines and autistic people that is infactual and damaging.
I'm autistic and I was born autistic. Vaccines didn't suddenly activate my autism. And detoxing from vaccines won't suddenly cure me either. This rhetoric makes it so obvious that they rather have a sick or dead child than a healthy autistic child. It is so obvious in the anti vaxx rhetoric that they want our existence eliminated.

I’m a mortician in a small town and I am so happy people who aren’t in the funeral industry are finally seeing through Lauren. She’s been driving me crazy for a long time. Her videos are nothing but the most blatant fearmongering and misinformation. Morticians do get called to crime scenes frequently- typically paramedics and EMTs only pick someone up if they’re still alive, if they’re pronounced dead at the scene a funeral home will come to take the deceased to the medical examiner. That being said, even if Lauren had been active in the industry for decades, I would STILL have a hard time believing she had seen the number of violent child deaths she was claiming to. Morticians aren’t safety experts. I always got the impression that she was using her profession and scaring people who didn’t know any better than to trust her for clout. That’s not even getting into all the weird queerphobic stuff.

As a teacher I can’t express how angry it makes me when parents undermine what I say when they say “you don’t know, you’re not a mom.” Like… I have a masters degree and know my stuff. I do know, actually. You don’t need to be a parent to be an expert in certain aspects of kids’ lives

I work in a FH (each state has their own rules, so mine are just for my state). A mortician's job is to prepare the deceased for the funeral and burial and that is IT. (note: funeral directors often overlap with a mortician but you can literally just be an embalmer) Our deceased come to us AFTER the medical examiner has done their autopsy. And as someone who works in a FH, most morticians have a bit of a complex. You can become a mortician through an associate's degree; a 2 year program. Not a bachelor's. Not a medical degree!!! NOT MED SCHOOL (unless you are a medical examiner). She is literally so far out of her fucking lane. Also, if she was only practising for about 2 years.... and depending on her state, she literally MAY have only finished her apprenticeship before leaving. The other thing is like... you do see a lot of people in a year. But not nearly as many as she's claiming (assuming she didn't practise during COVID. During COVID was... really really scary.)

Should I put this on my resume? Who do I contact to get a copy of my “mom degree”? I just need to know the details. Because after almost 13 years of being a mom, I had no idea we’re experts now!🤣🤣

The problem with the bath gate is its assumed that the parent would still be watching the child, like her disclaimer in the video about not leaving the child alone. While the gate itself is not dangerous, and could in fact keep the toddler from falling and bonking, this will give parents a false sense of security with the tub, and they might walk away with the "safety" item in place

  • @BinturongGirl

And then they position themselves as experts in a subject and get things wrong and overstep ethical boundaries because they have no ethics training nor have to operate within the ethics of the field because they dont work in the field! They work in a weird grey area they created

As a mom, I don't trust someone who questions other people's credentials because they don't have children themselves. You don't have to have kids to learn about carseat safety, and having kids doesn't make you an expert on all things kid-related. And comparing it to someone telling you how to carry a pregnancy? Fucking wild.

Honestly the fact that shes lying about what the car expert said, because he never attacked her and even said that they were friends, makes it pretty easy to assume that she also embellishes all of her “safety” stories. Pretty disgusting that she uses the fear of a child dying to make a career. Also, hes a professional, doesnt matter if hes a parent or not. Theres hella parents out there who literally don’t care about their children at all or abuse them, so being a parent doesnt mean anything !
