I used to have a Rookslayer and could never find the way to get the sword even though some quests seemed to somehow bring you closer to it! After watching your videos I came up with some theories myself that could give more explanation or to the motive or the quest :)

Fun fact, in 7.7, the lever in thais, by the pigs (dont remember the npc there), if four players were on the desert quest tiles, they or the lever puller (dont remember) will be teleported to a weird one tile place out in nowhere and would be trapped forever.. This is no longer the case tho as of > 7.7. Since it got leaked in that hack. Barely anyone knows about this fact, even with the existense of the files. Its believed its only purpose was from testing by the development team. It can be confirmed and tested running the hacked 7.7 files.
It was a functioning quest i think it was the old silver mace one^^. There was a few poeple who had done it. It is the lever in carlin by the piggys^^ but they removed the function of the lever or changed it. So either the quest is not possible or they changed how to acces it becouse wasnt many hints in books about it.

A lot of NPCs im ankrahmun says the scarabs have a secret, maybe itens like Holy Scarab, Scarab Amulet or Scarab Coins have a connection with the Serpentine Tower or its just a tip from the NPCs.
I've also checked into items such as the scarab amulet which weighs 7.70 oz. Something interesting I found with this is if you take weight of that item and multiply it you will get 7x7=49. 49 is a number provided by the Prisoner in Mintwallin with one of his formulas 1+1=49.
My guess would be use only mechanics which you had in game back in the day... so stuff like wands etc are out of question those didn't exist. There is alot about colours, elements etc... Did someone try to just use poison,fire, energy fields and maybe spike sword / white pearl or magic wall on forth spot?:P Or maybe it is simply 4-5 man quest since there is bunch of tiles there next to lever? My second guess would be regarding the monsters you find in the area... You free fire elemental... Ankrahmun has tombs... Which tomb has fire elementals? Shadow tomb, search there for clues... Green djinn might also be a clue? Maybe something in green djinns quest area... OR in tomb which has green djinns two tombs have those guys oasis tomb and ankrahmun lib tomb... Maybe there is a switch / button somewhere in those areas which unlocks vampire. On the other hand bubba showed a way to kill vampire. I mean he closed doors afterwards after killing him we could see how vampire respawned, in short the easiest solution would be place 4 items, click on lever, boom it opens.
