    Virtual servers are often seen as a more cost effective and efficient resource control option compared to dedicated servers for many enterprises. But how exactly do virtual servers work, and what is the difference between a virtual server and a dedicated server?
    In this lightboard video, Bradley Knapp with IBM Cloud, answers these questions and many more as he visually explains what a virtual server is as well as the many benefits it can provide a business.

    Is there a limit for VSI in 1U? How many VSI can a 1U store? Also, is there a limit for CPU, RAM or Network in a 1U?

    Great to hear how the server can be built custom by putting more networking power or more compute power or more processing power, etc. It seems virtual servers are too good to be true though. How all the hardware that would be used on a virtual server just takes up 1U of space? I still dont understand that, is it some kind of emulation, or is the processing being somewhere else on a offline server. I would greatly appreciate your advice and more information into this subject as I am new to it and still learning more. Thank you!

    HI, so if I understood correctly, physical servers are so powerful nowadays that their resources can be distributed so they can host several virtual servers.

    • @bradleyknapp2909
      @bradleyknapp2909 Před 2 lety

      Correct!
      With the massive increases in total computing performance at a physical level over the last 15 years, the odds of a single application consuming ALL the resources on a physical host are insanely low.
      Virtualization allows you to create multiple virtual servers on that physical server, making it possible to get 80%+ utilization of your physical resources, which lowers your total cost to run multiple workloads and dramatically increases your cost efficiency.
