  • It may be worth looking at the Inertia switch if you have fuel issues on an econoline van or other Ford. Instead of blindly replacing it, there is an easy way to check if it's causing a problem. I Show how to perform a voltage drop test on Ford's notorious Inertia switch. I show the difference between an old inertia switch and a new one so you have a good reference point on what good numbers are. I hope this video was helpful and thanks for watching!

Thank you very much. I am traveling in my van and I believe my fuel pump is going out so I am trying to learn about it myself so I don't get ripped off. Being over 60 and a female I am easy prey for a shady mechanic on the road.

No problem. Most likely a fuel pump or strainer/filter they are common to go bad on ford trucks. You want to replace the entire fuel pump unit with a quality part like a delphi. And its best to drain and drop the entire tank out and have it inspected and properly cleaned with a delphi cleaning kit. Delphi actually offers a lifetime warranty on their pump units if tank is cleaned properly. The people cutting holes in the floor and just replacing the pump are not saving much time and a dirty tank will make a new pump fail again prematurely. Best to do the job right

Yeah they probably dont go bad often, nothing wrong with my van after a new fuel pump and filter, just showing people how to check voltage drop and getting a baseline for what a good one looks like
