- Homemade Arduino Automatic Cattle Feeder powered by Wemos D1 and 4 channel relay connected to 12v battery and solar panel, Gate is controlled by 2 12V liner actuators. New this feeder is around $6000 I built this one for around $500!!! Feeder is made from 2x4s and Roofing Metal. Feeder is setup on a timer to feed once a day every day. Im in the works of setting it up on WIFI to be able to feed from an App on my smart phone and get alerts when feed is getting low.
My email is windyridgefarmwv@gmail.com if you have any questions
That is really neat. I am 73 and would like the plans. Could you share them with me.
This is the best idea I have seen. This guy has figured it out. And the cows now follow a backup alarm.
Thanks so much for the email!
It's a simpler build than I thought -- the kind of simplicity that is less likely to break down -- and the kind that shows more thought than an overbuild.
Thanks again for the email with all of the build information. Looking forward to getting a couple of these built before Winter!
Great idea! Great build.
That sounds great I appreciate it could fill him up with bulk bags of feed measurements and parts would be great
Looks great! I'll need to build one.
Great project! And thank you for ure mail!
I would love a list of parts and information. Very smart idea!!
Got any how to on the feeder or the blue prints and material list
This is awesome!! Just sent you an email with questions.
Very neat I like when the cows start running that’s awesome I am in Edmonton Canada I was trying to find or buy a blueprint for this feeder I think your place is called windy ridge farms but but I’m not sure of the state you’re in do you have a website
Don’t have a website butSend me your email and I will send you what I have
Can u share the plans for this? Or do
I sell ? Would
Tomhave 2 of these made!!
Can I get a set of plans .
Is there anyway I could purchase your plans for this I would like to build one thanks
Really need something like this. Would you share your plans and Arduino code with me?
Would you be interested in making another one and selling to someone who does not have a handyman skill set lol?
Hi. If you could provide a mechanical parts list that would be fantastic! Like the actuators, timer etc. The feeder structure I can build. Great job!
Can I get a email address?
@@windyridgefarm cgarym7@gmail.com thank you!

Hello
Nice job
I would like to build one.
I can do the structure but,
Can you please share with the part list, like solar panel, timing, actuator model.
Thank you In advance
Hi, my name is Arthur.
Brazil
can me send how it was done?
Can I how to build this as well?
Well done. I sent an email.
Hello sir Please send me a diagram of how it is done?
Would you be willing to share a list of materials needed. Would love to try and build one.
Tonygalvan1979@gmail.com
Can you show us how it works in action? This is pretty darn cool.
Yeah Im in the process of setting it up on WIFI and controlling it from my smart phone as soon as i get that accomplished i will update the video
@@windyridgefarm did you ever get a chance to make the video showing how it works? Even a link to a few of the parts of rough drawing would be awesome to see.
You have any videos of how it's made?
Send me your email and I will send what I have.
Do you actively need WiFi for the Wemos D1 to function? Or only needed while programming? Not an IT person so this may be a foolish question but could you use an intermittent timer kit like a Velleman MK111 to set the same interval length at the same daily time interval?
Would love some input. Looking for ways to make this work without WiFi. Would happy to share ideas via email if you had time. Thanks!
I guess a Timed Relay like an Uctronics or something may be a better choice
You can alter the code and run this without WiFi that is actually how it’s setup in this video. I actually put together a 12v timer and a relay for another person interested in building this feeder. He wasn’t tech savvy either so this way no coding needed.
@@windyridgefarm do you recall what timer and relay it was? Are the internals just lumber framed out as a V down with metal on exterior?
I see you were makin hay in WV. Let’s go Eers!
Do you have an email address I can send you a few links
@@windyridgefarm Hewitt.Earl@gmail.com.
Really appreciate the help!
Can you share your plans with me? I’d love to be able to build something like this for my feeder cattle.
I don’t currently have plans because I built it without plans. I have had several requests for the plans so I’m going to try to put something together.
Windy Ridge Farm do you have the solar powered timer model that you used?
Yes but I’m a IT professional so I wrote C++ code and programmed a micro controller so I can control it from my smart phone but there are other ways of doing it without making your own. I’m going to order a controller and make sure it works correctly before I send links. It won’t be wireless like the one I built but none the less will work just like a game feeder. I will order it this week as I’m getting more and more requests for plans to build this feeder. I will be in touch
Hi, We are Australian farmers looking to auto feed powdered minerals with feed to our cattle via ration, your machine looks great, any chance to get the plans to make it.

You did an awesome job. Could you send me parts list?

Yea can you share the plans?

It would appear time and gravity is calibration. How accurate/consistent are the servings in lbs per head? Relative to different feed stuffs any issues with caking up and not delivering a consistent feed amount each feeding?
Yes gravity and time are calibration. I just control the time the gate stays o
pen for the amount of feed I want to disperse. Don’t have caking issues as I feed dry pellets. Like corn gluten and a 3 way mix which includes corn oats and gluten. Probably would gum up if you fed something with molasses in it.
Windy Ridge Farm could you email me at DnAFarms2018@gmail.com
I’d like to pick your brain a bit
@@windyridgefarm i too am curious how accurate it maintains feed qty as reservoir depletes. Have you checked this?
Yo how’s it goin. I was wondering if you could send me the plans for this?
You have an email address to send it too?
Good job, I would like one too, please send me the details of this.
Send me your email please
Would you like to share how is built? Thanks!
Please send email
How do I reach you to get these plans? Got a buddy i would like to build this for too help him out with his start-up farm.
Hi, loved the idea well done.. Well can you do a video how to make one.. I only have 5 calves and it's not worth me buying a feeder that worth over 6k..thank you
Im sure it would feed cubes just have to make the feed gate open a little farther than pellets
Can you please give me steps video how to make that
Can i get an email address?
Windy Ridge Farm I would love to get the same if you can too! Mirandathames@outlook.com
Would please send me some info? I really need one of these and would buy or build my own. Please?

@@windyridgefarm nice! What controls it? Something like an Arduino?
Yes it’s an Wemos D1 but a Arduino Uni will work. I switched to the D1 to allow it to have WIFI as I have it setup to feed from an App on my phone. Updated Video coming soon!
Windy Ridge Farm I am very interested in doing this, do you have plans? Janroush1@gmail.com
How can I build one you done a great job
I didn't have a blueprint just built as I went along I can take measurements and get a parts list together if you like
@@windyridgefarm I too would appreciate prints/part list if you got them.
I like to have one very nice .

Great idea but why use wood? Steel will last many times longer.
I agree but not everyone can weld and wouldn’t build it as cheap. This way anyone can build it. I have a sawmill so lumber is practically free.
@@windyridgefarm thank you for the reply. It's a great idea and your explanation makes a lot of sense. Good work 👍
Hey can you send me details on how to setup something like th8s with a timer and relay please. Email is htams@hotmail.com
