Thank you so much for this video! I miss Maestro Ricci very much! We met quite often in Salzburg, I played something, we talked about many things, must be two decades ago! The last virtuoso in the classical meaning! Now, hopefully he is playing together with Heifetz, Milstein and all the other Giants!

No doubt one of the greater violin technicians of this century,I had the great pleasure of seeing him in person on several occasions and will never forget one in new York's crocheron Park when in the middle of a concert the bridge of his beautiful del gesu fell and he just borrowed the violin from the concert master and continued as if it nothing had happened, that impressed a lot of the people in the concert including of course me

no other fiddler has ever ben able to play that descending scale with no bow at all, and with perfect clarity, even the fourth finger plucks. he's the only one. i've seen him several times in concert doing that. it always brings an incredulous reaction from the crowd.
It was great to see this. My teacher would have remarks about his techique but to me it was important to see how flat my fingers can land if it suits the fingering. Also, I found that vibrato very tasteful. Some of the caprices sound too jazzy to me, but they all look like an excellent technique learning material.
Una bestia de la técnica. Muchos detalles increíbles por ejemplo en el capricho 24 en la variación de los Pizzicatos de mano izquierda, deja el arco para ejecutarlo solo con la mano izquierda. Sobrado 😂
The toughest caprice is number 4. Ricci was almost 70 when he recorded this video so give him a lot of credit for that - bravo!!. He made four studio recordings of the complete caprices - better than this, of course. There are many "silent" notes here, some notes which are mere smears, and you can see the effort the maestro is making. Maria Duenas is one among many who now play the caprices better than Ricci did here - better in terms of sound, intonation, and rhythm (what else is there?)
Huberman said "truth not beauty", Paganini could play very badly on a bad day, Ricci said (to me) "you must take risks" ... to be fair to him, you have to listen to his early Decca recordings I think. You mention Duenas better in "sound". You'd be better to concentrate on phrasing than "sound".
Waiting them from Roman too(may be hi's composing his own?🙄). But we have also Caprices from Alexander Markov. For me it's the best ever recording still
yeah, i'd like to see a complete recording from Roman. after Paganini and Heifetz, he's raised the bar on violin technique. though there is a recent video of Kevin Zhu playing all 24, live, with the Schumann piano accompaniment, which is incredible.
Bad posture if judging it from the POV of modern technique... this posture is probably more like how Paganini actually played- less shifting more freedom- les a shoulder problems- but there are disadvantages as well... look it up, I mean he was a virtuouso and a prodigy, but we haven’t always played violin the same way
Ricci didn't always play with this posture. You can tell he is fairly old here and for someone to have that technical ability after so many years is very impressive. His old age is probably the reason for his slouching posture.
Ricci was very short - the 'bad posture' was used to enable the big stretches. If you look, the bow at the edges of its travel is never textbook 'parallel to the bridge' - his arms weren't long enough to manage that. Just close your eyes and LISTEN...
Bravo Maestro!

Semplicemente meraviglioso. Grazie per la possibilità che mi date nel poterlo ascoltare.
Thank you for the amaizing testimony of the great Master-R.Ricci!
No other violinist has been able to equal his Paganini virtuosity.
Undoubtedly, he is one of the best and most professional musicians in the world

Tanks , a beautifull exemple of longevity of a great virtuoso
Great Violinist Forever !
Holy shit that lh pizz in caprice 24 is insane.
Ricci had the finest pizzicato technique of any fiddler I know of. Absolutely stunning.
No kidding the repeat was LH only no bow percussion!!!!

Paulie?! Paulie Gualtieri? Didn’t know you played the violin !!

最难的应该是5号或者6号,4号看着难实际上手其实还行
Hahaa

hello
Mi padre fue amigo de Ruggiero Ricci
y el mio toco con el y con Salvatore Accardo 2 monstruos en la interpretacion de Paganini

No one plays the caprices like master Ricci. I think Roman Kim may be the only one that could be rival him.
Waiting them from Roman too(may be hi's composing his own?🙄). But we have also Caprices from Alexander Markov. For me it's the best ever recording still
...are you being sarcastic?
Accardo is the best

Salvatore Accardo tambien
Pag 5 in original bowing ?
Looks like it. Amazing!
отвратительно
What?
Please show us that you can do better than him…. lol
