Just to thank you for that newbie series, I ended up making a little chapel as a gift for my mom and she couldn't believe that something made out of cardboard could look so good. Thanks a lot.
So much fun to have more Wyloch! Thanks for all you do!
I started out with this set. I feel like it’s quite expensive but absolutely a good kit for beginners. I like that it feels like a product from the 90s where you get the whole thing not missing anything.
I just picked it up today brand new at my FLGS for $30. I felt like i stole it lol
That's actually a great value box. Well done Army Painter! Thanks for the video, Bill.
What a fantastic idea for an off the shelf kit! This would make a brilliant gift for kids too who are getting into tabletop games.
My players gifted me this set, and it’s been a lot of fun so far. I’m glad to see this and see how this could be effectively utilized!
heads up, the core set is currently 60eur/usd on army painters website, making it even better value.
Also for $60 on Amazon at the moment. I just picked one up.
You are correct thanks. I got the base set and an add-on for the same price aa just the base on Amazon.
Looks like a good gift , you have got me into crafting to the point where we are good . I really appreciate this. Going to get this for my brother in law.
I like the new base spray, since it also doesn't melt foam.
Super cool results and excellent voice over. Very helpful
Love the video, I ordered the Game Master set, and am excited to start working on it!
🔥🔥 wow!! Good time to be lurking!
Great instructional video! I can't wait to crack open my box.
Great review of a great product
That's such a good idea for a product!
Huzzah,, what a great way to get into the craft. Very nicely designed has what's needed to do a small project and some leftovers for what's up next. Good for a present for someone who is wanting yo enter into this wacky crafty world of miniature terrain.
Looks great.. Thanks for sharing 👍
Those look pretty good.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
As someone who had been painting minis/character models for many years. I find that the cheep ass craft paint is the best stuff.
They also sell the foam cutter separately - if you are only working with 1/2" foam should be good for almost every job
That foam cutter looked like a fantastic little rig! I have far, far better now, but it looks totally handy to edge tiles, and even cut in the "acid pools." I was immediately impressed on that alone.
Okay, Super chill move showing off the QR codes.
you can get this set for 50 bucks rn. on amazon and ebay. was looking for a review of it. thank you so much! love the channel, been binging some videos today getting hyped to try my hand at this hobby
damn those came out nice. That must be some (goid) materials to work with.
WOW
Why did CZcams marked this as already watched? If I hadn't gone to my subscriptions I wouldn't have found it.
(Quiet fuming)
Good stuff again, Wyloch. I don't think that I'm their target market, but a cool product. Thanks
Did you ever consider making terrainconstruction videos for 6mm epic or 10mm warmaster? that would be great.
Oh wow, I was skeptical on this pack but I didnt realize it straight up came with a hot wire cutter. I might end up getting this anyway just for that
Also you said 80-100 dollars, but on Amazon it's not even 70 bucks.
@@Mystrich Be advised the wire cutter isn't particularly strong. It's not a light saber, like the Proxxon is.
Where can I fing potential Manuels for games, I can play with this.
This is so damn cool, definitely picking one...or six up!
Do you have any Age of fantasy battle reports in the works? Would love too see that!
I have for two years. :-D Gotta finish painting the armies. I refuse to do battle reports with anything less than 100% painted.
@@WylochsArmory You being you, i assume an army is around 5000 pts haha? xD ! Speedpaint FTW! anyways, love yer vids keep up the gd work!
I have it. Great gateway to start craftinf as Wyloch said. But the foam is really terrible to cut with a knife. It feels like there are "bubbles" inside of it that is much harder than the rest if the foam. And it only seems to be decently cuttable from on side of it. I can only get decent cuts with my proxxon. Also it NEEEDS to be sanded quite a lot in order to get the paint to stick as the protective paper is very hard to get of otherwise.
6/10.
Had that since day 1 from them .... why so long haha jks great build
Rockin. They only recently reached out to me, that's why. I must admit I was not expecting to be impressed but it's a really good kit.
It's especially economical when they send it to you for free...
In my opinion at over 100 bucks its way overpriced for what it is... Its a few craft paints some foam and some glue... less then 10 bucks worth of retail value from a quick trip to walmart plus a 10 dollar hotwire cutter. I could see it being a gift, but for someone who watches this channel i feel we would have most of the items in this kit at home. Then again, Im really against these all in 1 kits as it limits you on what you can craft and charges you more than what its worth...
Yeah, that was my conclusion at 5:46.
im new to the hobby, i watch wyloch, and i ordered this set a few days before he did a video on it. i did because for what i get, its actually cheaper than going out and buying it. by a LOT!;
foam 17.50€ (unless you buy in bulk around here, the gamemaster pack is literally the cheapest xps i can find.)
5 paints and 2 washes 21.00€ (7x3€ roughly in ratail price)
2 50ml basecoats 6.00€ ( its not a purchasable product, so priced it at the cheapest acryl hobby paint i could find)
75ml pva glue 3.00€
2 drybrushes of a reasonable quality 15.00€ (swap this for 6€ if you want to just get makeup brushes instead)
1 regular brush 2.00€
300ml water based primer 10.00€ (rattlecan primer suitable for foam isnt something ive seen anywhere else at all, so army painter price here)
foam cutter 00.50€ (not like its literally worthless, but its just a piece of gimmicky plastic, wont do the job of a proper hot wire cutter)
scenery sand 00.00€ (sand is literally free, go outside and pick some up. this is literally worthless)
basing tufts 05.00€
mixing palette 02.00€ (price of a cheap palette at a discount store)
knife 02.00€ (ordinary box cutter)
1 piece of sandpaper 00.00€
steel ruler 05.00€
thats 89€ in value, and they charged me 60€ for the set. as a starting point im really satisfied, most of this stuff i was gonna need at some point no matter what.
@@4lc4p0rn I’m on the eastern coast of the US. Things may be a little different than in your area across the pond…
Foam for me is basically free, you can find so much of it in every garbage pile of any big box store.
5 paints for crafts, NOT MINIS… $2.70… 54 cents a piece at any local craft store.
Basecoating paints another buck
Glue… 1.00
Brushes… I get a pack of like 10 - 15 any craft store for 3-4 bucks
Primer… 99 cent spray paint gray from Walmart, yea it melts foam, but it makes awesome rock texture
You see what I mean, I’m not trying to disrespect anyone, but I hunt for craft supplies the cheapest way possible…
@@Nytemare1989 xps foam just isnt used in construction here, so you either get the super expensive architect sculpting stuff, or go to a hobby store. (or make a giant order directly from a german manufacturer)
5 paints for mini's, these are army painter warpaints, and i will be using them more for mini's than for terrain, basically ill be using them where i dont wanna use cheap craft paint.
2 basecoats, yup this is the price of 2 tubes of discount acrylic hobby paints here.
glue, thats actual discount wood glue store brand pva price here.
the drybrushes, yeah for terrain only the cheapest brush set i can find might have worked, but im painting mini's way more.
the regular brush, thats actually the price of a discount store brush.
the water based primer, im mixing casted acrylic parts with foam for modular magnetic terrain, i need something that doesnt melt the foam or the pieces wont line up.
the prices i listed are what i pay if i go hunting for the cheapest possible, and i live in the same country as the army painter products are made. even at the 80€ msrp, id consider this set as a reasonably priced beginner set, at 60€ it literally saved me money on the parts i need, and the rest is bonus i can use for other projects.
no disrespect ment from my side either, but prices vary wildly around the world, and the set is consistently priced in the entire world, so depending on where you are, it ranges from amazing value, to bad value. if you live somewhere the kit is decent value, its a great starting point.
@@Nytemare1989 - I just bought some craft paint in the USA at a big hobby craft store. It was on sale 30% off for $0.75. And that was the cheap house brand. If you can find craft paint for $0.54 now I'd be surprised. There wasn't anything close to that price in the whole store.
Amazing!!!! XPS foam is God’s gift to DND, along with Army Painter
