- Foreigners Travel To India and experience their first Pongal Festival in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu
Pongal is like New Year for Tamil people, but we believe a lot of India celebrate some form of harvest festival in different ways. We assume as we travel more of India then we will see a lot more festivals, but this one was fanstastic.

Our overall plan in India is to travel via rickshaw/tuk tuk from the South to North (if it's possible?) The next leg of our journey is to travel from Kanyakumari to Kerala, and the epic journey north starts.
WE POST VIDEOS EVERY WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY 8PM AND SUNDAY 9AM (British Time
We have only just arrived in India, after a crazy time back home doing van life and living full time in our camper van conversion for two years in the UK. But after some serious engine problems that cost us a fortune, we came to India on a mission to honour Liam's Grandad's legacy who sadly died earlier this year. With the inheritance money Liam got from that, we bought the tuk tuk and named it after Liam's Grandad.

India must be one of the friendliest places in the world 👍
South india
We have our fair share of unfriendly people, as long as you don’t rub the wrong end, everyone is friendly across the world

TamilNadu and South India Yes..... but rest?
Being an Indian I'm fascinated at this video. We celebrate Sankranti in Andhra State similar to Pongal but I never seen how Tamilians do it. Thanks for showing my own country to me 🇮🇳❤️
Its harvest festival also celebrated in odisha and punjab under different names.
Hi guys and everyone. Jai Bharat 🇮🇳🙏🏻🥰💪🏻😎👍🏻! Pongal festivals holds a great significance among Tamilian. This month is known as Thai month and the people of Tamil Nadu, strongly believe that this month brings positive change in their lives and they get rid of their problems. This is the season when crops like sugarcane, turmeric and rice are being harvested. It is believed that this month is considered to be auspicious for marriages, engagements and all religious and spiritual activities.
India truly is motherland.
Anyone comes to India with honest heart can feel the presence of mother.. 😌❣️
The Indian people are so generous, and yet, so are you. It must have been exhausting being photographed and followed and led and interviewed, and yet you also engaged with your hosts with gratitude, joy, and good humour. Thank you so much for a truly awesome and enlightening vlog. Be safe lovely peeps 😊
What an adventure ! Your Grandpa would be so proud of you Liam using your inheritance to make such memories with Janine . You suited the sari so much Janine , gorgeous ❤ Colours in India are amazing , loving your videos
And I LOVE Liam and Janine's vids too ❤️ I did 3 years of solo travel in India and Those Happy Days are helping me to re-live my time there ❤️
She is so pretty in our traditional dress saree 🤗
Thank you so much
Absolutely agree.
In India, while you visit each temple city...You will feel, you are a part of that culture...some open from inside the soul... That's why in India a city become famous for the Temple...A city without temple is not Famous...Kashi,Madhurai, Kanyakumari,Hampi,Mookambika, Vrindavan, Mayapur, Kedarnath etc...
I love how you guys take the good and bad in your stride and enjoy everything that comes up with a smile.
You people are crazy. What a brave way to travel in India with an auto rickshaw. Amazing guys. I'm waiting for your next video. Enjoy every moment in Tamil Nadu. I'm a tamilian. God bless you all.
Hi Liam and Janine. You are doing something that I cannot do - visit beautiful India ❤️
I have some wonderful Indian friends who I would love to visit and actually meet in person but I am a disabled person and travelling that far is just not doable for me in the foreseeable future.
So thank you, thank you, thank you for making the trip and for sharing your experience with us all and for allowing me to travel there vicariously through and with you both 🙏🏻❤️
I'm just in the process of telling my dear friend Akshai all about you and I'm sharing your latest video with him now, too. I don't know if you are going to his City (Pune) but if you are, I am sure that he will come along to say hello and to check out Pete, too, lol 😂
Happy journeys, stay safe and please keep posting and by so doing keep sharing your experiences with us all and especially those of us for whom this is our journey too.
Best wishes xx
Please don't call yourself a disabled person. You are specially abled! Love from India!
Don't say disable, differently able, hope your dream come true and have a happy and healthy life.
Dont say disabled, pls!
Its just your brave soul took a great challange when you decided to be born on this earth!
How many of us can take such challange and still achieve?!
Moreover, your text shows you are a good natured person. Only that matters.
You will definitly visit great india 🇮🇳 soon and experience the goodness of this nation.
By the way, you may have indian food outlets nearby, though they may not carry the authentic taste and values like made in india. But thats okay. You can give it a shot. Every indian state has unique and devinely tasty food to offer!

Shelia the Pongal was SUPERB wasn't it. I lived in India for 3 years and the festivals excited me soooooooo MUCH. After a good while I did avoid them tho as the crowds and smoke in the unshaded sun did get to me.
This is how our traditional and our guests we treat like God. I hope ur enjoying this journey in India 🙂
We have been made to feel very welcome 🙏

What a fantastic insight into Indian culture 👏 👌
Yes Gary ABSOLUTELY. I know alot of people who go to India for the beach and pool and basically that's all they see. Liam and Janine are having a pure lived experience due to the fact that they are immersing themselves into the culture. I travelled on my own in India for 3 years and similar to Liam and Janine I also immersed myself into the culture. I am a slow travel vlogger so I took my time and lived with local families, saw their cooking, ate their food etc. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to explore cultural depth ❤️
Not indian culture this is tamil culture
Thamilan india
I love how the local people are so inclusive with the both of you and how the two of you are so enthusiastic about the experience. Adore this series so much ❤
Absolutely loving this India journey, we were lucky enough to do a trip to India its an amazing place
Thank u ❤️ from🇮🇳
Hahaha I couldn't stop laughing at liams Indian accent 🤣 brilliant Liam! Ohhh janine you really suffered in today's episode you poor thing! It's amazing how the Indians don't even squint at the blazing sun and smoky fires! India is nothing like I imagined.....what an amazing place 🙏🧡
no even me during those festivals will stay away from those smokes which will really irritate your eyes but somehow all our women in our family do that
Shezza, yes poor Janine in this vlog. I did enjoy my 3 year solo travel stint in India but the lack of shade and the smoke was most unpleasant at times. ❤️
What fabulous experiences in India. You are fully absorbing the culture and way of life. Janine, you looked beautiful in the sari. I’m impressed with your vlog! Where will you travel to next - the UK will seem boring in comparison. 🤣
🛺🇬🇧🇮🇳❤️
Caru I LOVE LOVE LOVE Liam and Janine's vlogs. ❤️Yes they do embrace the culture for sure don't they ❤️🕉️❤️ I'm also intrigued about where they will go to next. I did solo travelling in India for 3 years and recently returned home to the uk. I thought I would hate the uk after all the excitement of India. But In all honestly I'm really appreciating it as it's v quiet and organized. Also I don't always have to be on high alert in England as being a solo woman here is no big deal ❤️
இனிய பொங்கல் நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்!! Happy Pongal 🤗🤗🌞

With every show from India you make me want to go there more & more! Janine- wearing the Sari was a good choice! Absolutely beautiful! I’ve really enjoyed the lovely way you’ve brought India and it’s many varied traditions to us each week. Safe travels! ❤
You welcome
You are welcome with open arms.
Simply beautiful and brought a tear to my eye.
Money and possessions have little value for me , it's about life's journey and the memories we make.

You two are absolutely awesome. Your camera work, editing and soundtrack are just beautiful. Thank you!☮️❤️🇨🇦

You guys look much happier in India than you did in England 😄😍👏🏼
Great to see your travel experiences in India 😊. Madurai is one of my favourite places to visit. Meenakshi Amman temple, nayakar mahal are a treat to visit. And I love the food there. Kari dosai, mutton chukka, murugan idli shop, jigarthanda, aira meen, kola urundai and the list goes on. Have fun guys 🤩
Thank you
Now we all see why they wanted to lend Janine the sari - you did so well after going through the 'tuk-tuk sandstorm! And Liam, you did England proud, the way you flew by the seat of your pants, speaking to the press! Safe journey guys!
Yes Liam certainly did do England proud ❤️ The festival was AMAZING 🤩
One word …. fantastic! This is one of the best travel videos I’ve seen, you captured the culture, colours, sounds and excitement perfectly. Janine looked fab in her saree too xx
Wow what a great video.... thanks Liam and Janine for given us the window into the ways of the Indian people.... Beautiful 🙏😊
Amazing..... I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying your Indian travels..!!
You've become Indian stars..!!..Take care...thanks for sharing all this !! 💕
Thank you Heather 🙏
I hope you guys enjoyed Pongal festival in Tamil nadu❤❤
Just when you think the people of India can’t get any more welcoming they dress you in a sari, invite you to a festival and treat you like celebrities! 😆
It also seems like half of India is now following you on CZcams and appearing in the comments sections to your videos.
You are both doing so well in navigating the chaos and sensory overwhelm with smiles on your faces and an easy going attitude that allows you to go with the flow, all while making stunningly filmed and edited videos that make compelling viewing.
I can’t wait to see what adventures are ahead for you both at your next destination.
☀️🛺 🇮🇳
Sorry to say but Not even 1% Indians are here... Search T-Series and pick any random video.. you will realise the sheer crazy number of viewership from India.. that too would be in the range of 20/25% of the yt users from India..

Wow guys, I’m from India & this is so refreshing to see! I should head down south. ❤
The country loves you both.
We were hoping to meet up with you both in Kerala, but unfortunately our three weeks are coming to an end. It’s been our first visit since 2017, when we came to Kerala for our Indian daughters wedding. We have now met our Indian grandson who is now four and a half. It’s always great watching you both, and great to see you embracing the wonderful people and the amazing diverse culture. Our trip has been fantastic as usual, big disappointment we didn’t get to meet up with you in Kerala, we are in Alleppey until Sunday, then flying from Kochi to Delhi and Delhi back to London. We can’t wait to see your journey through Kerala, the weather is getting a bit cooler heading towards Munnar. Keep in touch, love and hugs Pete and Sue 💞💞🙏🙏

Wow. 😮 Another really joyful episode. What an honour to be included in the festivities, and be made to feel so included. Janine: you looked great in the sari. Brings back memories of when I wore one in Jaipur. ❤️ Janine: I think the draughts in the back are definitely causing wind burn, and what sounds like neuralgia, so plenty of sunscreen and a scarf around your neck and lower face should help. 🤗 Lovely that there is so much choice for vegans. I hope you manage to avoid more stomach bugs, and looking forward to the next part of your adventure. Stay safe and happy travels xx
