At some point you gotta really look at yourself and think about how what you're doing could hurt your child more than keep them safe. My mother was always strict about social media but when I explained to her how not having it is such a social setback and really sets your kid up for bullying she let me get it. If you don't trust your kid enough to be on social media that means you either have an unhealthy bond with your child or YOU aren't teaching them enough about cyber safety. Allowing your kid to have snapchat can actually help them later on, if you use it as an opportunity to practice online skills. You're going to need social media as an adult for job interviews or other things, so teaching them online skills from a young age is extremely important. Just telling your kid about how to be safe online isn't going to help them much. You need to allow them to actually put those skills in play in order for them to grow and learn.

That’s what I’m saying, bro in Snapchat is about to lose a lot of people because their main base is teens and then putting this parent controlling is just going to make the team say I don’t want to use the app no more because they don’t have no privacy like all they do is talk to their friends and use filters. I think most teens usually 14 and older are capable of looking out for themselves and have a good understanding of cyber safety, unless their parents didn't teach them. Idk what age range you're targeting but, if older than 14 that's a little over protective

This is reminding me of how people who grew up with strict parents just learned to be sneaky lol
Her main criticism is about the streaks; which is a fair point for a parent trying to keep an eye of the affect(s) of social media on their kids, especially when they're young and might not have as good self control and ability to asses the relative importance of priorities vs social media and engagement
But as an app and social media platform Snapchat seems week because it's primary audience is young/barely if at all teenagers. So for older and more mature people we're more interested in Snapchat as a audience building and monetization tool. Snapchat seems to lack in that regard. So older audiences don't flock to Snapchat compared to some other platforms.
My parents are kinda strict and I made a full blown PowerPoint to convince them 😭.Ik it seams extreme but I had just turned a teenager and everyone is using it. (I’ve had it for a while now and I kinda am obsessed 😂)
