We had to take corn out of the bin to make sure it will flow out nicely when it comes time to sell. Subscribe to How Farms Work ► bit.ly/XYVvDd Facebook ► on. YpS8oH How Farms Work Store ► bit.ly/HFWStore
thanks for the excellent video of what you do. I used to work the farm many many years ago when I was a young lad, But that was before many of you now in your life time LOL.
iowadairyboys The forcast is saying rain for the next week and a half. We only have a quarter of our hay done. I don't like cutting it off knowing it's going to get rained on.
We started cutting on the 29th of May and they were calling for rain at the end of the week but we just cut anyway. It never rain and we made our 120 acres of hay. We just cut our waterways out yesterday and will bale them tomorrow. The only rain the hay seen was sprinkles.
17burga's mentioned the corn spilling out. I too noticed and thought you need a roll of the 'farmer's friend.' Duct tape will do that job but I know you already know it. Tell Travis we are looking forward to Brittany driving the tractors doing some real work. The guy that farms my Uncle's place always has his wife out running a peanut combine during harvest. I just think it's neat like our girl Allie Knight the over the road tractor trailer operator.
Novelty John It has its place. We went back to row cultivating a couple years ago and got rid of our second pass spray program. The old ways aren't all obsolete. I'd rather raise gmo with the advantages it gives against weeds and insects than have the added stress of not having it. Plus the yield bump is nice.
"Blowing corn up the silo"? I understand what you said in the video about taking a look at the grain, but there are times where I'm still confused about what is happening. This is one of those times.
hey i have ben noticing that you have sweatshirts that have how farms work and kuster farms. If you sell them could tell me were i could get them. Thanks,
Hey James! I was getting ready to offer them, but wasn't sure if there would be any demand. If even one person is interested in purchasing one, I'll set something up for it. Watch for a future video soon here and I'll begin offering them.
James Lorion Pietsch Farms I haven't publicly announced it yet, but they are available on my website. You can go have a look: www.howfarmswork.com/store . I plan on announcing it in a video soon here. The orders will be sent out after I hit 5 or 10 sweatshirts or T-shirts or more, depending on how well they do. Thanks!
Consider building a ramp next to the JD66 so the trailer can dump directly into the '66. Just a thought.
Its good to see young kids working on the farm, work is hard but by gawd its good work !

Hey Ryan just catching up on your video's.
Send that rain my way Ryan. We haven't had a good drink for the crops since the end of April. Things are getting pretty dry in my part of Ohio.
It should be! We got drenched today.

Was your dad running the Bobcat? he reminds me of my Grandpa in his years before he had a stroke
Kind of a dumb question, but does the blower actually blow the grain up or is it more of a throwing motion from the fan? Thanks.
Both
Make a video of all the equipment you have at the farm
Great video. How does the corn travel up the height to the top of the silo? It is pushed up vertically with air or is there an auger?
bodeans59 the fan blows it straight up the pipe
How much money does it take to start a farm? i was wondering because when im older i would like to start a farm
To jest silos gazoszczelny ? Ile kosztuje nowy ? Nic z kukurydza się nie dzieje pozdrowienia z Polski
What percent of your corn crop do you feed vs sell? Also, do you sell any corn during the winter? Corn dropping everyday!
Joel Schroeder It varies yearly. We forward contract corn in the fall to reduce risk and also lock in a profit if possible.
can you put corn like so in an stave silo?
Looked like u were losing a shit ton of corn from that tub

Peter Venkman Ryan's brother bought the load of corn out of the corn bin and used it for feed for his calves
