I was very skeptical on clear tig cups at first.
I started using them strictly to try to get better clearer arc shots for videos but I saw right away that they help me see what I am doing better.
If you eyes are perfect, you probably don't need a clear cup.
But if you are like me and your eyeballs are a little older, and you could use a little help seeing, then maybe a clear cup can help you see better.

Jody, your tutorials are great. You never skimp on detail, and the camera shots are clear.
I appreciate the ‘slo-mo’ reruns on critical sections…. a real help.

Hey Jody, just writing to let you know how much I appreciate your videos! I'm a young guy who only got a year in the industry until a crash broke my leg, but I'm studying up while I heal. Sadly my welding boss passed away recently, so I only got a lil bit of time learning from him. Your videos give me confidence for when I get back to work!
For anyone else reading, Tig Finger is tig welder approved 😁

Awesome video Jody. I’ve been watching your videos for almost 10 years now I believe. I’m no expert by any means but 95 percent of what I learned came from you and the podcast. Thanks for everything 👊🏻 🙏

Been with you from the start, JODY! Like I’m back in apprentice school, always learning! At 63 now and retired, I still grab an occasional side hustle. Just fabricated some aluminum wedge shape seat platforms for a bass boat. Most of your kits are in my arsenal. Especially the clear cups. Makes these old eyes see a lot better! THANK YOU!⭐️⭐️😇⭐️⭐️

Thank you. I have been doing a large number of fillet welds on a frame made of aluminum square tubing. I was having some difficulties and this video provided some useful information to correct the problems that I was having. I have also found out that preheating aluminum to about 150F is quite helpful.

The name "Navigator" is the perfect name for the new kit. I laughed because I'm in the same boat as Jody with the eyesight curse.
There are some other youtube welding stars that say clear cups aren't worth it because you can't see through them... Jody explains that it's not to see through, it's to help illuminate the area like a "lightbulb".
I wonder if there is a side by side comparison video on Jody's channel that I missed...

I recommend welding Aluminum using DC straight, tungsten ground to a .010 point, using Helium. Wire brush good using a SST brush, then solvent degrease.

    • @MonzaRacer
      @MonzaRacer Před 9 dny

You'll go broke in my area trying to source up helium.
One reason heli-arc (Tig welding) switched to argon. In my area one bottle of up helium equals 10 argon.
AND dc doesn't clean today's aluminum worth a damn.

    Hey Jody,
Just wanted to say thank you for the videos they help everyone a lot. That said I was wondering if you would do a video request? I just picked up a few old Miller SyncRowave 250’s and I was wondering if there’s anyway we could get you to do some videos on how to use these welders. I know in their day these welders were the best of the best. I also know there’s thousands of them still out there and they could help a lot of people out on a budget. I think I remember in one of your videos you said you use to own one of these hopefully you still have it. If not depending on where you’re located maybe I could send you one of the ones I just bought if you would be willing to do some welding and videos with them. Just let me know!
Thanks again for all the videos and information you put out and Happy 4th!!! 🎉

Quick question. I'm getting started with Tig welding and I'm looking to buy my first machine. My question is if I can afford a machine like the Everlast Typhoon 230 vs a machine like the Primeweld 225 or 325, is the cost difference worth it. I personally believe in buying things once and getting the best you can, but I'm new to this and the options out there many. I do plan to build marine products and sell them. So mainly I would be welding Stainless and Aluminum. Any advice owuld be appreciated. Thanks

Is there a good way to clean the cups after they get dirty without scratching them up, or do you have to just get a new cup?

I tend to melt my O ring when using clear cups. Is there a solution for that, like taking a little more time between welds for cup cooling?

Jody, need to check your weldmonger email. I sent a question this morning about a product I might want to buy. As of this time, I have not received a reply.
