- After creating the foil mold of your face (see "Mask Step 1"), cover it with newspaper and paper towel dipped in wheat paste. Then, paint the mask with white acrylic to seal it and make it uniform. Finally, you can design and paint your mask.
I liked this. The only thing I would change is using white paint as the base coat. I would use gesso instead of white paint. It dries harder and you can easily texture the mask if desired. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you, you both made it very easy!!! This will be my next project!!!
If you tear the paper instead of cutting it then you eliminate the lined effect
this video really helped a lot thank you!!
Hey Anthony and Amanda thank you for this tutorial.. what is the name of the flour that you suggest we use?
Hi sir
That's wonderful technique..
Is it's 3rd part also there..Kindly show the detailing
That's Cool

Nice job. Can I use magazine paper ?
Sulais you can however use toilet paper or paper towels.
what about the nose holes?? Surely you can't breathe without and holes at the nose... ??
when do you put the paper towel on the mask?
Amazing video
But can you use anything other than newspaper for the paper mache
Damien Hudec paper towels
Ravy thank you
Better to use a fork to get rid off clumps.
How many layers of papier-mâché are used on the BACK of the aluminum foil mold? Also, I'd like to wear the mask and eight layers seems too heavy. How much would you recommend for that?
+QueenBoadicea I really need an answer to my questions. I'm making the mask but I'm not certain about these steps. Also, should I use newspaper for the strips on the back of the mask or paper towel?
+QueenBoadicea you could try making test masks and doing different layers (like 4 in front 2 in back or all paper towels or something ) to see which works for you before doing the final mask. I'd also suggest watching other tutorials because I've seen many different techniques used so you might become inspired and find an even better path. UltimatePaperMache and KlairedeLys have interesting videos. Good luck!
hmmmm 5 is better
the aluminium is a mold. You REMOVE it
Great video :)
I do have a question though. Is this mask supposed to be worn? If yes, how do you make the holes for the eyes nose and mouth`?
And can you use the same technique for the mold etc if you just wanted to make a mask for the upper half of the face?
Thanks!
+Anna K Just cut out holes in the aluminium stage and then wrap the paper in flour+water stage in the holes. Change paper strip size so you can apply it to the holes. Make sure the edges are wrapped good. Sorry an answer is so late, hopefully you figured a way. I'm researching on how to make a mask for halloween! :)
+Anna K I'm only making the top part as well. How did yours turn out??
Robin Crossno Mine turned out nice to look at but not really wearable because somehow it got much smaller after I put the paper mache on it. It's a nice piece of room decor now though :D
Anna K if
How long does
Instead of acrylic paint, can oil paint be used?
+Kyle Lanigan I guess oil paint would work. I never tried that.
It will take a whole lot longer to dry though
I wouldn't use an oil based paint on this kind of craft due to the fact that oil takes much longer to dry and the painting process on paper mache if too heavy can moisten the paper mache extending the process as you will need it to dry again to keep the shape. Acrylic or water base paints work best as they dry quicker so as not to set on top of the mache wet. Oil base will take longer to dry and will sit on the paper mache longer making the mache moist and trying to dry again with the oil paint too. Just my experience.
My name is anthony roy too
But im canadian
More like a masquerade mask
la mas con el periodico que es?
Didn't the mask start smelling bad after a few days? People say that paper mache made out of water and flour starts smelling bad.
+j.ariesx Salt the mix when it's ready, or lightly salt the final mask before it fully dries.
+j.ariesx I have created over 200 masks with this process and they didn't start to smell. The key is to let it dry thoroughly. This may take over a day. Remember to keep the mask in a well ventilated area or it will get moldy. In some cases, they get really moldy.
why 200 masks to sell?
@@tutorialesblanca9991 it was smell not sell
Is there any alternative of paper mache??
i think using plain paper instead of newspapers is much better. Also, use a brush to spread the glue before sticking the shred of paper in and after. hope this helps.
FLIPIN PANCAKES newspaper is a base to get started. afterwards use toilet paper or paper towel
PELOTUDA
El papel periódico NUNCA se corta con tijeras pierde el efecto u no queda igual (las tiras de papel deben ser cortas para mejor efecto)
can we make holes for eyes???
I would think so. That's what I'm going to do because I'm wearing mine on Halloween.
same
how long does it takes to dry??
he said 1 day at least
nice video but how to cut the nose, eyes and mouth
SUMAN KUMAR this probably won’t help by now but that is showed in original video.
This is so good!⚡️⚡️🎻🚴🏾⚔️⚔️🗡🗡🔑🔑🗝🗝🎎🎎⭕️🆙
Horrible technique , no eyes or nose holes, way too thick and heavy. Should have covered foil with Saran Wrap and separated foil from mache
I just read an article about making a papier mache mask that mentions using shop towels vs newspaper, idk if it would end up lighter but supposedly IS and I'm going to try it.
trevor your horrible and so your mum
Take
To dry
'' Very Bad Teaching to Say the Least. You Forgot to Say The End'ing.Do you Wear It,Or,Etc.I Don't Get It.???
you can use it for different purposes depending upon you for example I am using it to put it on a model that I am supposed to make
So bloody boring
then don't watch it and please mind your language because there are kids trying to make a mask and looking for tips in the comments
This guy's not very good at this...!
thanks for your review professor
