Great video. I'm going to install my own spark plugs myself because of your great tips. One thing that you might want to make an update to is the use of anti-seize when installing the NGK plugs. Their website actually discourages use of it because it could lead to over torquing of the spark plugs by 20%. You probably compensate for that when you install them, but amateur viewers like me might not understand that and accidentally damage the plugs. Here is the copy/pasta from their site.
NGK spark plugs feature what is known as trivalent plating. This silver- or chrome-colored finish on the threads is designed to provide corrosion resistance against moisture and chemicals. The coating also acts as a release agent during spark plug removal. NGK spark plugs are installed at the factory dry, without the use of anti-seize. NGK tech support has received a number of tech calls from installers who have over-tightened spark plugs because of the use of anti-seize. Anti-seize compound can act as a lubricant altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage.

    • @DM-hw4cr

Many thanks for a great video. I note that, according to the NGK spark plug torque table, there are different values for aluminium cylinder heads and those made of iron. Do you happen to know if the Nissan X-Trail 2.5 t30 has an aluminium one? I'd like to warn viewers that the plug spanner should have only one rod securely attached to the plug socket. I had trouble using 2 connected rods and a separate socket. Upon attempting removal of the spanner after tightening, the rods, held together only by spring-loaded ball bearings, separated leaving part of the spanner down the well. As it was a Sunday, I had to drill holes through each rod connection and insert nails as security pins. Nothing like having a specialsed tool.

Alot of times for me when I cannot see if the threads are engaged is I turn backwards untill I feel a slight rise then a small "click" and drop that tells me the the threads are inline and are and should be ready to be engaged so I turn to tighten this works well on delicate plastic components too as you use the same threads cut by the screw the first time I have been doing this method for at least 5 years and never had a cross or rethread

I had to rush out to buy the magnetized socket with the holding rubber on the inside. The original plugs on my 2014 Rogue were stuck in there pretty good. Had to soak with penetrating oil for two days before they budged. Thanks for the great video, I followed it to get my job done.

After doing this my Rouge wont run. Engine will start but runs rough, VERY rough. Auto Zone sold me the wrong plugs. Went back and got the right ones. Replaced them and still runs rough, can't get it out of the car port. HELP!!!

If the car was running fine before swapping the plugs, swap the original plugs back. Make sure all the connections are clipped back on correctly and do not overtightened the plugs. It could mean that the auto zone plugs were not gapped correctly, were the wrongs ones like you mentioned or bad coil packs that may also need to be replaced. My recommendation is to go to the dealer and buy the OEM spark plugs. Spark plugs are one of the few maintenance items you shouldn't cheap out on because they're supposed to last 100k miles. My last guess is something made it's way to the cylinder walls below which is no good.

@@gmo8492 Tried the original plugs and no joy. The smell of fuel is massive. I may have a stuck injector as the coils and plugs do throw spark. If an injector is stuck open this may be part of the problem. I'm getting a tester to check some of the codes. A local car fixing place told me the codes came back as the transmission is bad......I'll get my own tester and try it again. 100,000 miles on the original plugs. It was time to change them. I used to work on TF41 Jet engines so I'm tool stupid.

@@BillSW Not yet, I smell a large amount of gas, I'm going to replace the injector. I'm guessing the injectors were the problem from the start. It ran rough but did not give a injector code.
