Used buddy last night on my new tx16 elrs, it took less than 2 minutes and added sd card and themes etc. All through buddy .And I am using your American flag theme. And on 2.71. Zero errors and fast.
Both methods asre quick and like you I too prefer SD card method. ELRS is standard and straight forward, Nice video, well done, thank you.
Yeah, SD card method is pretty much foolproof.

Kudos to you ... exactly what I needed. I'm a beginner and this gave me what I needed and your fill conversation was also greatly helpful. Have you, or can you, do a similar video for the Jumper T-Pro ELRS edition? I have both radios and the Jumper has me about to tearing my hair out. Thanks again!!!! (quick edit - the Jumper may be very similar to this and I could use this as a guide maybe - but nevertheless I'm hyper cautious because of some of the bricking issues with the Jumper)
Glad my video helped you. I don't have a Jumper T-Pro so I can't do a video on it. The process should be pretty much identical though. When they use the same firmware, the firmware governs the process. The only thing that might be different are the physical knobs/buttons.

Every single time I try and flash my zorro it gives me an error?
I haven’t been able to flash to the new or older versions to be able to bind to my mobula7 elrs

Well, my new zorro elrs version 3.0 is not build and flashing. I did not update the edge tx. I'm pulling my hair out. Any help will be great

for some reason, it fail when finished the process for flashing to V3. Im missing something?
So I tried this with the buddy website and now my radio does not switch on , what is funny is that the top usb port does not do anything. When i put it in the lower port it starts to charge the radio and i hear the connection on my pc but nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated.
Hmmm.
Take the sd card out of the radio and remove

Put the card back in

@@RCVideoReviews This is now working, I had to cycle the battery but great guide used it to update my zorro and jumper. Will tackle the tx16 when i feel a bit more brave. Surprisingly i did not have to update my sd card contents just worked and showed my old models
Does not see transmitter...well it does, until you click flash, then it says could not connect to dfu interface...
Thanks for the amazing video! I was just wondering if USB serial (VCP) and USB serial (Debug) are the same? My newer version of the zorro says USB serial (VCP) and i was wondering if something was wrong?
They're not the same. VCP is Virtual Com Port and is used to flash internal modules like ELRS. Not the 4-in-1 though.

I accidentally deleted a file from the second Zorro drive which you said don’t touch, now the elrs wont load on the tx even though I have flashed.
It is the rm Zorro drive & the file deleted was a a 3rd file, a txt. File, not the two files you had in there. They are still on the radio.
Anything I can do?

I have a Zorro 4 in 1 i noticed on the website there is an ELRS radio module, is it difficult to remove 4 in 1 and install the ELRS module furthermore is it compatible ................. or am I just better off buying a Ranger ELRS 2.4 ghz module that can attach to the bay ??
I haven't tried the swap, so I don't know if any pieces are required outside of the rf chip/board itself like mounting brackets. It certainly doesn't hurt to have a module on the back, but you lose some of the compactness of the Zorro if you do that.
4 in 1 stated they had ELRS inside .. but i guess that was wrong ^^
Where? On the radiomaster website 4-in-1 and ELRS are mutually exclusive options.

When i go to flash my zorro on buddy it says "could not connect to DFU interface" and it wont flash.. everything else is the same as what you showed for me except that it wont flash

Do i need to remove the sd card if i want to update it? It has an sd car with the elrs stuff on it. Im wondering if it will erase the sd card aswell 😅
No, you don't need to remove the SD card really ever. You can plug the radio in to your computer and mount the SD card. You can then read/write from/to the card.
for TBS Crossfire nano, what i need to select
You need a Crossfire transmitter. There is no integrated Crossfire OTA protocol support.
I just got a radiomaster zorro 4in1 with TBS crossfire nano external module. I just bought the geprc rocket plus tbs crossfire edition as well. I updated the external module, then paired it with reciever on drone. Flashing blue light (means update now going to drone module) then now solid green on drone and remote. I know remote is paired because it says telemetry lost if drone is powered off. Now, I have solid green lights on both drone and remote external module. Both are paired. But when trying to get stick feedback on betaflight or receiver feedback at all, nothing. I move drone around with my hand on 3D model betaflight first page, drone moves. But nothing on reciever tab. I tried serial uart, crsf module. I tried disabling abc filter on zorro remote settings (tells you to do that on betaflight settings). I need help please. Its got to be something in betaflight is wrong settings wise. I looked up youtube videos for days. Can never find a tbs crossfire setup on zorro, only elrs. Thank you in advance!
You probably have Rx/Tx wired wrong.

If you're on Windows, you might need to install this driver: www.st.com/en/development-tools/stm32cubeprog.html
Otherwise, I would suggest opening an issue on the ELRS Github.

I watched and followed your video before and no problem. Well today I decided to upgrade and after flashing using buddy TX which said all is well. I went to check to see the version and after seeing it I turn the zorro off and now it will not come on. Do you have any ideas why maybe?
You need to get on our discord and ask there. If you flashed it and it worked, then you turned it off and it doesn't work, the first thing I would suspect is battery power or a hardware fault.

All was going well until the last step to copy lua file over, first came up with error in the radio , said the syntax was incorrect, disconnected, resaved file and tried again and now radio booted with a bad config message and seems to have reset everything, the expressLRS system tab, just is stuck on loading..
any tips to find my way back?
edit , saw my mistake: i didn't delete the compiled lua script ending luac
Can't really help with questions like "reset everything" and "syntax was incorrect"
What indicates anything was reset? What were you doing when you saw a message of "syntax incorrect"
If the ELRS lua is stuck on loading, that usually means the module is not turned on in the model setup. Under model, turn on ELRS.

@@RCVideoReviews thanks, I added an edit to the original post earlier, I saw my mistake, I didn't delete the .luac file, which led me down a bad path. Have recovered now, although lost the default tools that were installed when I recieved my controller. (note to self should have backed up all folders)

As long as the major version is the same I believe they are compatible.

Radio settings are in radio.yml. If you copy that file, you have a backup of your settings. Model files are in modelxx.yml. You can backup all of your settings (model and radio) by copying \MODELS and \RADIO from your radio to your backup location.

I've left OpenTX behind in favor of EdgeTX. So I haven't tested, but if OpenTX supports it, you should just be able to flash it using Companion.

How do you backup?
Copy all of the contents of your sd card to your computer.
Hello John. Have you tried out the new RM TS-16S with the Internal ELRS module? Mine when I run the proper lua script just shows ????? I experimented on my other radio and this is what it does when I have the internal or external set wrong in the model menu. It is like my new radio does not recognize there is an internal ELRS module. Hopefully you have some ideas or have run across this. Thank you
I have not. Is the Internal module on and set to CRSF?
@@RCVideoReviews it took me most of the day but I finally figured it out. I had to go into the hardware menu, and change it there to crossfire, and then into the model memory. It then would let me change the internal module to crossfire. Very strange. It still doesn’t seem to want to let me flash the internal module though. It at least let me bind.

It isn’t required to use buddy. If it’s giving you problems you can use the other flash method I showed in this video. I’d also suggest opening a ticket on EdgeTX github to let them know what you’re seeing.
How do you back up the radio first?
Copy your entire SD card contents somewhere on your PC.

If you have the correct firmware and you're in bootloader mode you won't get a flash error.
So with 2.6 it's ready to go right
I've been flying everything on EdgeTX since 2.5 including some very expensive helis.
hey Bud im hoping you see this asap! i am getting a failed (red screen) at the end of trying to update ExpressLRS config im not sure why but three attempts to update on the configurator has left me unable to update my zorro.....i followed your instructions to the letter! Help :) please ...BTW i was able to do the EDGETX firmware update but not through USB aswell so this is a driver problem you think?
Two things I would try: 1) Set your baud rate on the radio to 115k. 2) Try a different cable.
If you can update EdgeTX you "should" work for updating ELRS because they're using the same components to communicate from PC to radio.
If that doesn't work, I suggest getting on the ELRS discord and seeing if they can help out. I haven't encountered this error, so anything I suggest is speculative.
Thanks im going to try your suggestions....im currently updating stm32 bootloader software and the cpm firmware from betaflight....this is my first radio since my old spektrum days....i have alot to learn! 😏

Zorro comes with 2.6.0 is there a need to flash?
It comes with a pre-release of 2.6. My advice on flashing is to do it if the new firmware gives you something you want or need.

I am so ready to give up on all thos open source crap....never had issues with futaba or spektrum.....but eveyting that had open or edge tx is nothing but headache and my stuff is nothing like tbe video....for instance it says no usb dfu interface when i try to update firmware on a brand new zorro....so tired of this
