Out of This World Vintage at Giant Antique Mall Shopping Stop!

- We're on the road again, headed north for our appraisal fair on the Ohio River...but our first stop is a huge antique center in Lake City, Florida! It's so big we never have time to shop all 400 dealers, so today we focus on the crazy cool vintage and astounding antiques in their perimeter ring of booths.
It's been years since we've made this stop, and we're having a great time finding bargains we can take to our spring shows in the Midwest...a hip looking decanter, a beer sign with bi-national appeal, RS Prussia bowls at today's low prices and some fun Victorian sauce bottles all head to the counter as we explore!
There's plenty of showstopper pieces here! Super stylish art deco scales, great signs with vivid graphics (we tell you how to tell new from old), a huge 1800s rendering pot forged by a blacksmith and a marble-top dresser best suited for a French Quarter New Orleans house are visual pleasures for us all to enjoy. Tool and bottle collectors' havens, a collection of battery operated toys and clusters of Bohemian glass, fancy lamps, paperweight vases...all that and a pinball machine from beyond the skies make this a great tour through a venerable old antique establishment.

I had the smoking grandpa in the rocking chair in the first case you showed!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The blue and white booth was heavenly! Ahhh my favorite.
Holy smoke.
Sheri.. It was tooo good! That fish bowl is something I’ve always dreamed of ❤️🐩
I stopped at Webbs about a year ago. So much fun! The owner was such a sweet guy. They encouraged us to bring our little dogs in with us.
I love people like that.
I love forgetting about all the stress life serves up by wandering around Webb's with the prospect of finding a treasure. For me, it's the equivalent of "Calgon, take me away"! Thanks for this, George.
Yes, antique malls are great that way because they're time machines!
I haven't been to Webbs in years. Loved walking around and learning about stuff..
That hat is definitely you 😂.
You always find the neatest stores. Lots of different products that are not around here.
George never passes up a good opportunity to put on a hat! I love it!😅
I love that rose flower dish was beautiful.
English bottles came from a mudlark dig. Torpedo bottles!
Always a good man for special hats 😂😊
Thank you George.
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, George
Handsome, hanging parlor lamp !!
Daddies favourite is a brown sauce condiment like H P sauce.
Lovely porcelain bowl, I have always been drawn too those pieces. Also the Bavarian painted porcelain.
I love the Crown Tuscan piece!
I always remove forgotten price tags, too! Seems like the right thing to do.
👍 thumbs-up supports his great channel 👍
Lovely video!!! Always a pleasure to spend time with such a knowledgeable person!!! Thank u George, your the best!!! 💞💞🙃💞💞
Thank you that’s very sweet!
Thank you, George!❤❤❤
George, how about a calendar of you wearing hats with vintage/antique hints?
Yes!
I like that idea
I liked the dog bowl. It's unique. The vanity lamps are very feminine.😅 I got a dirty imagination. Teapot is groovy.
Your videos are so upbeat & informative!! Loved the hat! 😉
The strange bottles are called: torpedo bottles. It is not for in crates for ships. They were oval shaped with a neck at one end, and were deliberately designed so that they could not be stored upright. The goal was to keep the cork wet so that it did not dry out and crack, thereby releasing the carbonation. They are also made with a flat bottom.
That’s interesting to know! I had only seen them in a shipboard rack but that must have been coincidence. It makes sense they would have to keep corks wet
Too bad the lid had a break on that Arthur Wood teapot. Gorgeous design lines. I have a weird pre-occupation with tea pots :)
George, This video ended before I was ready for it to. 😁 You will have to go again and show us more. Thanks !
Hi George. I liked the William & Mary plate. I grew up down the road from there. I drove thru Dawson Springs today on my way to LBL & thought of you!
My sister lives in Lake City !
Daddies sauce is a brown sauce very popular in the uk. Go's great in a sausage sandwiches. Great video
I went there when I drove back from Michigan (with a car full of vintage salvaged from the house where I grew up). It's quite an experience.
Oh neat! So good you could save it
@@TheAntiqueNomad I couldn't save as much as I wanted because the stuff that was stored in the basement (except some coins) was destroyed by mold & mildew. My Dad had not done much upkeep in the later years because of physical issues. But I was able to get some vintage and some sentimental stuff home.
That antique mall was huge. I only saw about half of it before I decided to get back on the road.
I live in Lake City and go to Webbs every couple of weeks! Wish I would of been there when you were!
How nice that you’re near such a big and varied Mall! It was an unexpected stop for me
Thank you
The torpedo shaped old bottles were stored in shaved or crushed ice, in stores or street vendors in cities. Those were the first ones made before flat bottom bottles.
I remember having the butterfly glasses and that mushroom canister set in the house at Grandma. Don't know what happened to them when she left us but they were always fun to look at. Thanks for sharing and taking me along with you. Have a great day
I enjoy your videos
Thank you!
Hi George. I love your channel , I am not a collector , I just love finding out about the pieces you talk about. I admire and appreciate each piece. Thank you for wealth of information. I use your videos when i am stressed during the day, its like retail therapy without buying anything. Keep up good work.
Hi George! I love those paperweight vases! I'm just a glassy girl 😊 hey Longaberger went back into business in 2020, they were purchased the 2019 by Xcel Brands, Bob D'Loren. It is definitely not that traditional country look. The baskets are more sleek in color and style and the pottery we know and love is gone. They are selling something they can 1973. Yawn.... 😂 The product line which is more diverse is online.
Thanks for taking us along today!
I hadn't heard Longaberger was subject to a revival! A lot of firms (e.g. Mary Hadley Pottery) seem to be finding new investors who want to keep these things going in the USA.
A fun time was had by all.
Physically and Virtually.
XO❤
I am really glad I found your channel. I have a booth in a place that was/is named Clair’s Antiques. It is also named Odd Balls. The owner add the name Odd Balls because over ½ of his venders now sell toy’s that are somewhat old and somewhat new. His biggest selling booths sell very new collectible POP toy figures and Anime. Lego, and movie/cartoon themed items that are more resent. Lots of green and yellow haired teens to younger 20 year olds shop in this mall now. It makes me 😢 sad 😞. There is all so a large following of shoppers that are looking for old and new Oddities. Kind of “dark” themed items. If you are ever in the Richmond VA area you should come see.
I’d love to see that! I think the Funko Pops are a fad, but hopefully they’ll notice other things they like and their appreciation and taste will grow
Hello George, I love your CZcams channel and always watch your videos! I learn so much from you, so thank you for describing an item in detail, you are the walking encyclopedia on all things vintage and antique! I would love for you to come to Cowtown (Fort Worth) TX and do appraisals and set up your booth at our antique fair in the convention center where it's nice and cool. Also we have first Mondays in Canton, TX. It's been dubbed the world's largest flea market. They say if you can't find it in Canton then it doesn't exist! Love from Texas, Kaz
Wow what a place of course never been
I always wanted a formal blue dining room. Beautiful dish sets.
@29:18 the spider & web stained glass piece looks awesome!
You are such a trip!! You always make me laugh when you sound so serious but are being sarcastic, lol! Still love your videos & as always, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge! P.S. You have such a fantastic smile!❤️
Looks like a fun place..loving the education as always those ship bottles and well all of it was interesting.
$4.99 is a great price for those whiskey pitchers. I do pretty well with them at my shop in Arizona - Generally in the $15 range. Great man cave or bar decor collectibles. I am not finding them quite as often these days. Same goes for beer trays.
I can’t find beer trays anywhere anymore! I agree that $15 is a reasonable price for those pitchers
❤🎉❤🎉
That SINK basin!!!😀 I would want that barn clock if I had a cabin! 🙌🏻 I can’t even contain myself watching this. That vanity is perfection! Too much to comment on here. It’s like a really good dream. Thank you ❤️🐩Had to add I wanted to kick Ronald in the shin
Lol I agree about Ronald! I actually agree with all that, the sink is particularly great
Hi George, In my humble opinion Daddies Sauce bottles are as common as Marmite jars in UK. The whiskey jugs are functional as many people took their whiskey in pubs diluted back in the day (my grandparents included) so many producers of things common in pubs (booze and cigs) also commissioned the water jugs for advertising. A common English comment, if someone stumbles or is clumsy, is “you should have had a little more water with it” implying that they are inebriated because they didn’t sufficiently dilute their whiskey.
That’s very interesting, I didn’t know that background! Thank you. I’m sure that’s a common bottle in the UK but the label will sell it in the states as being funny
George this was a very interesting video I wished I could go with you sometime and find some of this stuff!!!!!!
Maybe I’ll get to your town soon!
Whoa saw those carts in Costa Rica n wanted one
Good evening, George! That R S Prussia bowl was a beauty. My favourite pattern is the "Reflecting Waterlilies". I have some...stuffed in the bottom of the sideboard...nowhere to put it on display. I liked the Mercury figurine. The classic gods and goddesses figurines have always been a favourite of mine. They can fit in almost any decor. There was a statue on the table next to the scale that caught my eye. It looked like a statue of a blacksmith, in chalkware. Loved the 1890s bricks. That was a pretty porcelain berry set on the shelf with the other pieces. NFS on the Frankoma dealer sign...why was it even there??? I had a feeling about that Dr Pepper sign...too many repros around it, and the white looked too white. The Dr Pepper clock caught my eye, though. I'd love to have somewhere to put one of the Victorian hanging parlour lamps, but they need a higher ceiling than just an eight feet one. Lots of things that caught my attention there. Thanks for the take-along!!!
Oh, I love the waterlilies, those and the swans are my favorite of all! I knew from your avatar you would like that. The Mercury figure was quite nice and I regret leaving it. I wanted a reason to need the bricks but couldn't figure one out on short notice. I do not understand NFS on things that are not display pieces (like shelving or plate stands). The white was too perfect on the sign, and now I won't even have to touch one to know...on the other hand, the clock was cool! The parlor lamp we sold like that was in a manufactured home over their round oak table, and it almost touched the table even when pulled up all the way...but they're sure pretty. Thank you for coming along!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Mom used to have a "Reflecting Waterlilies" choco set but sold it when she and I were combining houses...wish she still had it. It would've fit in perfectly with my collection of beverage sets. I think I would've had to have gotten a few of those bricks, then figured out what to do with them once I got them home 😂 Maybe some felt on the bottoms and use them as paperweights...🙃 I liked those. NFS on a random item, sitting on a shelf...take it home and put it in a curio cabinet. That made no sense to have it there with NFS on it. Yes! Those Victorian parlour lamps are super pretty, but they need a proper place to hang them, for sure.
Great eye.... wow! Hang the lamp in a corner where no one will bang their head and make it a showcase piece! You can have it all!
What a fun place! Gonna have to put it on the to do list! I just found one of those ribbon girl paper doll art pieces at my community yard sale. Neat seeing them on your video.
So cool! I’d buy them anytime I’d see them. It’s worth getting up there sometime
Great video ❤❤
Thank you!!
In total awe of your vast knowledge. Just subscribed.
Gahhh !!!! 400 vendors !!!! I have one an hour and half away. Been there 8-10 times. With 125 vendors .And still can only do Abt 1/4 at a time. ! That one would take at least 20 trips !
Niche lady...have a talk with her...please.....like your education and videos....thanks
Burst-lip bottles.
Love the Mercury statuette! How much were they asking for him?
Only $29!
I do find flow blue here
Not that she was aware of
George do you ever see Roseville “Sunflower“ pattern ? I never see it in All the videos I watch … 🤷♀️
That ended too soon!
Agreed! I'll go back sometime
24:58 snow white.
If that's a rubberized one I'm looking for one of those George.
Where are you?
I’ll keep my eye out! I’m in Georgia trying to get back to Florida currently
What were those rocket looking lamps that were on the vanity in the booth with blenko glasses??
Those are 1930 boudoir lamps made to sit on vanities like that
@@TheAntiqueNomad They we’re very cool!! Thank you ♥️
Wow spode dog dish
👍❤😅
I was just wondering how long you’ll be in Florida or if you could kindly recommend someone that I could bring my items to and have them appraised for sale that I could trust
Hello! I will be in Florida through April, please email me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com
Unfortunately, we don’t seem to have any antique stores around here. And our Goodwills don’t really have any hard goods. There’s always EBay but shipping can be high. I don’t necessarily look for anything of value. I just like art glass but it doesn’t have to be anything important.
It’s harder in some places to find things now! If you travel they’re available but that’s a tall order in some locales
@@TheAntiqueNomad If you saw my car you’d know why I don’t travel. Lol!
Do you know whas happening in the west coast now with sourcing etc compared to the 90s and early 2000s. Ive be living in a small town for 15 yrs and im out of the loupe? Thank you
I am still searching for the Cat painting (Venice show) …. Contacted vendor organizer & he responded that he forwarded my request to “George” 😂😂😂. 🤷♀️
Oh shoot! I don't know which one that is then...can you time stamp it from the video?
Venice show time stamp 26:35 THANKS!
18:50 I HAVE A DOZEN LONGABERGER BASKETS . BY THE WAY ARE BUTT BASKETS WORTH ANYTHING ???
Not a lot yet but give them time to start disappearing from thrift stores and you’ll see them start to increase
