  • In late 19th-century Russia, a dashing aristocrat, Count Alexei Vronsky, meets a charming young woman, Anna Karenina, the wife of an important dignitary from the capital. The fleeting acquaintance and mutual feelings rapidly grow into a deep passionate love. For both it is the first true connection. It is so strong that Anna decides on a scandal by the standards of aristocratic society - to leave her husband and son to escape from St. Petersburg with Vronsky. However, the idyllic love is short and soon fate will put their feelings to the test.
The musical hits off the finest suspense and emotional depth of Tolstoy’s great novel with astounding insight. Like a living panorama of the society beyond time and space, Anna Karenina is a dramatic story of the relationship between a married lady and a young officer. It not only struck a chord instantly in the hearts of Tolstoy’s contemporaries, but it remains relevant at all times.

When will people learn that pop music for this type of thing does not work! But the more I look at, those sets, those costumes, there are magnificent.

I guess it's the beauty of musicals. They show classical stories with more like pop music. Thanks to it, it makes more sense for younger generation

@@ciuek Interestingly enough I am working with young people on a musical version of "The Cherry Orchard" and all of them are telling me, thank you so much for not using pop music.

@@robbey10Are you referring to Hamilton and Six? Those musicals work extremely well in a pop and hip hop style. They are also both historical adaptations. On the other hand, Anna Karenina is a novel based in Tsarist Russia. Now, I only just searched this up and haven't heard the soundtrack but, being as I am a high school age teenager, I like having both classical musicals and pop style musicals. They each have their own different styles and attributes. I connect to them both equally yet differently. Now the musical you are putting together may seemingly work better with a classical style, and good for your cast for valuing the music and the way it fits the scenes and stage but, you can value that type of musical without defacing or destroying the value of the pop style musicals. I rest my case.
