- In this episode, we are inspecting, cleaning and reconditioning all engine parts in preparation for the full engine rebuild of the M3 S65B40 V8 engine. We clean the crankshaft, take apart the oil pumps and cylinder heads, fix the stripped oil drain plug and take the block to H2 Motors, and recondition (hone) AluSil cylinder bores.

I hope our old Englishteachers don't watch your Episodes.😂 It was a Pleasure to have you in our Shop.🤙
I'm English and you guys speak it better than a lot of people here so don't worry!
Don’t worry guys your English was better than most of the people I know 😂
Englisch sprechen ist wie Motoreninstandsetzung - Übung macht den Meister...
I’m English, your English is far better than mine as I speak with a northern dialect
Just in time we translated all our videos and added English subtitles. Feel free to use our playlist to find out more about our work on BMW engines. Have fun!

The shop is stunning
Very impressive work!
Pleasure to watch you guys work, amazing craftsmanship!
your shop is seriously impressing. Amazing work.
Man, it's awesome to see Sreten is getting some great support from all these different places.
The machine shop is just an incredible place, and the guys were genuinely happy to help out.
This is only the beginning of great series!
Mhm
I definitely can not recommend H2Motors. I had my worst experience with this workshop: disorganized, incompetent, customer unfriendly and arrogant to boot! Timing not set correctly during engine overhaul and unable to detect the fault in two weeks. After that, H2M threatened me with legal action via lawyer that I am not allowed to claim this anymore. Mr. Huber, you and your store have remained in my very worst memory! I have never experienced any thing like that before!
H2 Motors workshop is like a nirvana for BMW enthusiasts.. I cannot *believe* the amount of stock they have in terms of motors, etc. Truly incredible. Their combined knowledge must be enormous. Your E92 M3 is shaping up to be really, really special Sreten.. can't wait to see it all come together :-)
Don't you wish more shops cared as much as these guys, the world would be a much happier place.
The world would be perfect
Honestly, I want to send my E46 to Germany and work on it with guys who care and know what they’re doing. It’s so difficult to find.
@studio MWG I'm thinking you're not alone with that sentiment.
@R. Weaver We should all organize a trip, car transport, and a large garage for a two week+ marathon work session. 😂
@studio MWGhave you seen the videos by Reddish motorsport in the Uk?
Man, its so good seeing Sreten being recognised and sponsored by more and more people and companies, you definitely deserve it!
Best microfiber intake manifold I've seen to date. Looking amazing.
😂
Just imagine if it was truly made of microfiber 🎉🎉🎉 😂
There are equivalents made of Farbon Ciber which has slightly different characteristics.
There ain't nothing better than sitting in your bed after a long day and watching Sreten work on his broken BMW's while throwing some jokes! Just immaculate work, attention to detail and classy oem taste🔥
Well said, sir.
Better the OE sometimes :)
It is really nice to see there are still shops in Germany that are run by a passionate person! It really looks like they love and know what they are doing at H2 Motors!!
I definitely can not recommend H2Motors. I had my worst experience with this workshop: disorganized, incompetent, customer unfriendly and arrogant to boot! Timing not set correctly during engine overhaul and unable to detect the fault in two weeks. After that, H2M threatened me with legal action via lawyer that I am not allowed to claim this anymore. i will keep this short. there is NOT a better BMW channel out there than this one. the content is unmatched and production / editing is like a "discovery tv" production and all done by 1 one guy amazing. well done Sreten
The whole process of cleaning and honing the block was mesmerizing! It's now an objet d'art!
What a cool interesting episode! Love how these places you visit give you a tour of their facilities. They know M539 Restorations is one of the best channels on CZcams! 😁
i'm lost for words on how excited I was to see this drop - 45 minutes of heaven being totally absorbed in the magical world of Sreten and his BMW's.
It just goes to show how highly your work rated. So many top quality companies want to help you out. As always, amazing quality of work and attention to detail.
Great episode Sreten, this S65 engine is gonna be better than new! I would love to see a E34 M5 project on the channel.
My prayers have been answered! There's nothing better than watching the beginnings of an engine rebuild. Seeing you do all your prep work sure is a treat, Sreten. That S65 sure looked sexy down to the bare block. Thanks for always giving us your best. Take care of yourself and we’ll see you on the next one, my friend.
This is going to be magnificent. Those intake parts just look incredible, and they're going to sound out of this world, absolutely. Also, I'm super glad that you've been able to find shops which are professional and share the same mindset as you do!
My one and only Patreon subscription, and it's worth it so much.
We really feel the gain of experience compared to the videos on the H1 engine, thank you for sharing your experiences Sreten
36:10 😭
I love hearing you use the Gudentight torque value. It warms my heart.
Until recently it had to be torqued perfectly from the nut side, the perfectly good used bolt had to be replaced, now just tighten it up and foeget about it s good enough. I think our host is turning into a grizzled old school mechanic ;)
Fantastic work and tremendous quality as always, and such decent guys at H2M as well. Thank you.
Fantastic content as always. With H2 motors located 3 hours away from me, I am now inclined to make some poor financial decisions for my S65.
I'm not a BMW guy, just an old petrol head, but I've got to say, I was blown away with the engine shop. What a fabulous 45 minutes of pure enjoyment. Those guys are not just engineers or craftsmen but artisans. Like Sreten, people who put their heart and soul into their work. Great credit all round.
I was starting to drool seeing all these fantastic engines and rare M cars in mint condition at H2 Motors... 🤤. Great episode!
What a coincidence! When I watched JP Performance at H2Motors earlier this week, my first thought was: Sreten would love the guys from HIIM. And here you are :D Fantastic video as always, thanks a lot.
This is incredible. Proper insight into engineering and how in depth engines are. Hopefully this keeps going and doesn’t die out with all this EV nonsense going on
Always a pleasure to see passionate professionals at work.
What an incredible episode this was!
I simply can not believe how incredible that workshop is and how beautiful your S65 turned out.
I am so eager to see the M3 back on the road and autobahn!
You are literally running a dream factory... Great work as always, the machine shop visit was very insightful and interesting! Awesome that you were able to look over the shoulders of the H2 Motors wizards!
They guys are legends and you can see how happy he was to meet someone with great knowledge about BMWs
Another great episode to watch! And even featuring your e60 M5! That car is just BMW heaven! Looking forward to seeing the M3 completed with those upgrades. Cheers from the Netherlands
What a great episode! Even better than usual. M539 & H2M - Brothers from another mother. It's so good to see a collaboration between such enthusiasts and artisans. Amazing.
This is right up my strasse, I have had my E92 M3 for almost six years, I do all the servicing my self , with correct factory torque settings on everything, inspired by you Sreten . 🙌🙌
The fastest 45 minutes on CZcams! Your videos are so informative and your attention to detail is unmatched!
Brilliant! Seeing that engine block getting honed and refinished was great. It's nice to know there are people who know what they're doing with respect to this somewhat unique material. Looking forward to the big rebuild!
Ovi klipovi su teška droga, samo želim da ih gledam sve vreme
That was really good, so refreshing to see a machine shop that actually know what they're doing! Also, that Eventuri intake, oosh.
Wow! Those guys at H2M are absolute wizards! Seeing the quality of the work, their complex machinery and the way the care for their tools underlines why Germany has so many amazing engineers. I’m not a mechanic but i love your videos, they pass by so quickly and these factory tours are fascinating. Thanks for your brilliant content.
Loved listening to the machinist talk about his work - it’s great to hear his expertise and the pride he has in his work. More of this in future videos would be great
Great episode. So good watching the process. The crew at H2 really know those engines inside and out
H2M has a real treasure trove of beautiful engines! 👀
Have watched this video 3 times now. Streten you have no idea how useful these videos are for someone like me. The fact that your also recommended upgraded components that i would never have found if it wasnt for you. Great videos and great work. Thank you 🙏
What a pleasure to watch! You’re always going to the next step in CZcams rebuilding series! ❤ I am from Taiwan 🇹🇼
Man, I wish I had such a skilled and detail-oriented mechanics like you and the guys from H2 for my beloved Saab. What an amazing piece of art you are making here in front of our eyes! Wish you all the best, looking forward for the next episodes! Cheers from Prague!
It simply amazes me how you have jumped into something you knew nothing about but had love and passion for and have become an expert on these German cars we love so much! Kudos to you and your hard work and entertaining videos. My favorite channel by far on YT. Someday I hope to meet you and shake your hand.
Fantastic episode! Man that M3 is gonna sound awesome!
Fantastic content as always! Just bought a Hoodie, it’s not much but i hope i at least supported a minor bushing 😂
- Keep it classy, keep it OEM. Keep on doing what you are doing Sreten. You are a true guru and inspirationel to all of the car community!
Love from a Peugeot Mechanic who badly wants a E34 Touring 😂🤘🤘
Another epic and fascinating episode, dropped everything and watched as soon as I could, this is becoming very addictive 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great content as always and the work you had done externally looks amazing. Good to know that there are quality providers out there!
Stepping up a level with each project. Excellent content my friend. Keep it up. 👍
This is going to be a truly beautiful car when it’s done. Glad your work gets the recognition it deserves now.
The guys at h2 are absolute legends for doing this, this is the bmw community I want to experience! Nice job!
After seeing a block cleaned and properly refurbished, now I'm more motivated to clean up and fix my E38's starter wiring.
For OE magnesium cover, refinish them with special oil resistant heat resistant Cerakote finish. It will last much longer than any paint coating you can find.
does refinish them with electrostatic paint is a good idea?
I love when you show us inside other workshops that are helping you. So good to see that. All the best with the S65 engine 👌🏼
Awesome tour, nice to see other enthusiasts in a professional large scale capacity
Thank you to everyone for explaining things in English, since we're so mono-lingistic. It isn't easy trying to explain technical things in your own language, much less another.
That's called content . 40+ minuts and you don't feel it . A pleasure to watch and learn new stuff.
I love to see your work on these older BMW's. Learned a lot by watching your video's, even for use on a mordern car like the F31. Simply lovely.
Impressive expertise that you engage in your project! I might need that kind of help with my S54, at some point. But in the mean time, I'm quite happy with the +/-2 % I got in the compression test on my M62 =)
As i said before, i can watch you work in the dojo for hours, but I love these videos where you go to your suppliers and businesses that support your work. Keep it going!
This was another awesome video! I watched it 3 times!! You're like the "Mr. Roger's" of BMW repair when you take us to these places and show more details on rebuilds. Again, thank you for doing what you do, how you do, and why you do! I'll continue to watch from Atlanta, GA. And I wish I could come and become your apprentice!
The BMW CZcams enthusiasts are blessed again with another upload (from you, this time)!
That was great to have a look around a proper engine shop ❤
I absolutely love that E34 M5 Touring such a stunning car, and the workshop was incredible as well. 👍🇬🇧
Awesome videos as always. Thank you for sharing such rich content. I learn so much watching you work, looking forward to seeing the finished product and that plenum sound!
A fascinating process, very knowledgeable guys and clearly experts in their field. Great content as always. From a uk viewer...
Honestly, I have read so many 'not positive' stories about the AluSil engines, but this was educational! Always good to hear from experienced experts in the field!
Wow that E34 M5 6spd Touring Wagon, amazing! The Ultimate Family Wagon? Those guys are absolute professionals. You're the BEST BMW channel on the net, my personal opinion!
Great content! Love your dedication to the motoring world!!!
This channel just get way better video after video after video, and it just makes me so sooo happy. Amazing to see so much support of the bmw community to Sreten.
Have you considered a refillo-o-mat from würth for your brake cleaner? Works like a charm and few bottles will last a loooong time 🤟
It'll be much more interesting to build with the stock cams and then the aftermarket ones so you can do a road and dyno comparison
Omg!!! This is Amazing..another job well done..I learn so much new stuff watching your videos and come across parts and processes, I never knew existed in our engines until you took them apart. Your in-depth knowledge and attention to detail is truly remarkable. Keep up the great work!!👍
One of the best youtuber’s of all time. Love the content and the editing. Keep up the good work and fixing old mighty bmw’s🫶🏼Regards from Finland!
Congrats, Sreten! Besides being a joy to watch, your videos are also a reference with all the good contacts one needs to carry out outside jobs. Keep it up! Cheers!
AFAIK the parts should be stored oiled up, to avoid surface rust.
Edit: I’m talking about the crank
There is anti-rust in the Cleaner / Chemistry.
Nice work once again, your attention to detail is never compromised great work👌
seeing all those engines being kept as stock somehow made me sigh of relief like someone is there keeping this stuff from getting scrapped, I hope there are many more like them, one day we will need them desperately
37:45 Is what I live by and why I work on my own stuff
Sreten, you've inspired my love for BMW. I was possessed by the notion that BMW are nothing but unreliable, unserviceable, money pits. Well, they do cost a lot to fix, but it worth the driving experience. Thank you for the quality content, and details on fixing, restoring neglected BMWs.
Really good quality content, well done :)
There is no problems to sleeve alusil engines. But the choice of sleeve, piston, rings etc is critical.
Thank you for a great video :)
I'm here for the adults parts content. 🤓
Thanks for another great episode. I am looking forward to the next one.
Another great video Streten. I wish one day you would comment on the status of BMW today. The alpina guys... the h2motors guys... have not seen a single new BMW in their chambers either. It's time to have that conversation.
Eventuri stuff is always extremely well made, nice packaging, good design but it's also painfully expensive. Friend wanted to get one of their induction kits for their Mini F56 Cooper S and it was £1300!!! And all the other induction kits were £200-350
Always a good day when there is new video from M539!
Great video. Seem like really cool skilled professionals and enthusiasts. Can't wait to see the finished product.
It is so good watching experienced engineers at work, clearly very knowledgeable people. I may have to contact them, I saw some Alpina wheels there!
Very good work man , you inspire me and I’m sure you inspire a lot of other BMW enthusiasts , I’m a beamer fun myself got a e46 330ci m sports convertible Manuel 2005 ( for fun)+ 4 driving in town and a e60 525d 2007 to commute to work and back home , lovely cars 🎉😊❤
Yup, thoroughly enjoyed geeking out to this episode!!! Just watching the honing procedure and it's outcome had me grinning away. Brilliant content Sreten 👍👍👍👍
I want to suggest oiling up machined ferrite metal surfaces when you seal them in a plastic bag like the crankshaft. You still have a bit of air (with moisture) inside that bag and condensation might cause rust.
Ovi klipovi su teška droga, samo želim da ih gledam sve vreme. Best microfiber intake manifold I've seen to date. Looking amazing..
A great in depth behind the scenes look at craftsman at the top of the pyramid. Really cool and so nice to listen to enthusiast sharing their passion. Bring it on Sreten....
This was a properly fantastic episode !!! Thoroughly enjoyed that !
Great episode. H2 are the real deal !😎
Amazing video, great news about heads getting top-mar treatment, superb choice of OEM+ parts and the machine shop was a BMW heaven with perfect mix of professionalism and love for old BMWs.
I was so hungry to learn about Alusil! Thank you for letting us in on a little bit of the why's and how's. I have both sleeved and clean Alusil blocks. Almost nobody can tell me why and how. Machine shops just want to sleeve and get you out the door without any warranty..
Wow man, this is awesome. Loving your channel more everyday.
Wow! This is incredible work carried out meticulously. Well done guys.
Man i love watching these videos about BMW, ive only been watching this channel for a week and ive already learnt so much. Thank you so much for making these videos.
