    Hello everyone, I am writing this text through Google translator (so I apologize for errors or inaccuracies). I am Ukrainian, I love Eurovision with all my heart, did I want to win yesterday? Absolutely not! I knew how much hate we were going to get because there really were better songs. I am grateful to every person who supported, but I also understand those who are disappointed. But believe me, if every Ukrainian yesterday had a choice 1 - victory at Eurovision or 2 - Peace in our country. We would undoubtedly choose peace. Now it's our priority

When is the last time that a UK entry has been a hit in your own country? As somebody says... if you don't love yourself how on hell... As U are one of my very fav' Eurovision CZcams video reporter I leave U here a more developped comment about Eurovision and above all the case of France that surprised so many fans of the entry.
    I'm really wondering how do the band members feel after such bad results! What a shock! The French Grand Finale performance was awsome. The 4 artists literally gave their best that night: they improved their staging concert after concert. Such a gap means something indeed. What worked wrongly?
    The main issue is the way of how France is seen by other contestants, not the entry itself: something hasn't properly worked between France & ESC since the late 90's despite noticeable exceptions certain years (2001, 2002, 2009, 2016 & 2021).
    I suggest that France withdraws from the contest for a certain while to take stock of the general situation for itself. 1°) Because it is one of the 5 contestants that pay the most to make every Eurovision show be organized each year. This big amount of money mainly comes from public taxes (TV license fees). It could be saved & used in a much more profitable way for its population by the country. 2°) No matter what the style of the song is, France mostly failed to be at the top 10 of the ranking. Obviously, there are questions requiring serious answers culturally, artistically & FINANCIALLY at Eurovision for France. Respect from other contestants has to be recovered. It's a waste of public money to stay with such general recurring rejection from others most of years.
    Luxembourg that participated brilliantly for some years did this in 1994 after a long period of bad results: it has never come back since but at least this country has kept its dignity. Italy did it too in 1998 for the same reason and only came back in 2011, what enabled it to propose many more entries matching the Eurovision standards. Now, Italy is in the top 10 not to say top 5 almost each year.
    Furthermore, there's a huge contradiction from the international audience. France is indeed so often blamed to send "old boring ballads" or "cliché songs". But when the country makes the effort to send a complete different entry that is lively, unconventional and refreshing it was dumbed down by the voting. Thus, where's consistency here?

    • @Kapok-Bush-TdK
      @Kapok-Bush-TdK Před rokem +1

      @@joebloggs396 Not only ONE country can mix traditional music & electro beat. It's not private property. By the way "Fulenn" has a celtic background while "Shum" clearly has Eastern influence. Nothing in common culturally except the merge of tradition & modernity. Both songs were very different actually: tune, beat, lyrics, vocals, etc. The staging with green colour refers to Celtic culture in which nature (trees above all) is sacred. Your argument in not valide hence: it shows your ignorance of what celticism is (no offense). France stole nothing at all and their entry was completely original, unconventional for what is expected for this country.
      What is allowed & well-seen for some other countries is NOT accepted the same way for France. For instance, in 2013, France presented a rock entry that was out of sync with the standards of Eurovision then. It only ranked 23rd out of 26 despite a lot of fans before the Grand Finale. Suddenly 8 years later, rock sound is again accepted at the top 5 (Italy winning). Something hasn't worked between this country and Eurovision for years now except sometimes like in 2016 or 2021.
      France is now disliked in this contest objectively. Whatever the style of its entry can be, most of time, France will stand at the bottom of the ranking on & on for long. A long withdrawing could clean up everything & prepare things to a full restart like Italy did successfully.

      @@joebloggs396 U are exactly the kind of person I describe in my 2 comments above implicitely: no objectivity, just complete unjustified rejection of a country & its culture whichever entry can be sent to the contest by it. Last year, 2nd place of France was fully deserved: beautiful voice, strong emotional background & complete control of vocals. Barbara Pravi was very professional on stage & staging was poetical. The singer wasn't a beginner moreover. The style of the song did not speak to U. Ok... but it spoke to most of people's heart (juries & televote) no matter what. Full stop about it.
      Lack of objectivity always minimizes the significance of words consequently. An opinion ONLY becomes interesting argumentation if PROVED accurately... even for a secondary topic like Eurovision.

      Despite that wasn't an f-message from Moldova. Actually many russians rooted for Moldova albeit silently, cause Zdob si Zdub are hugely popular in Russia, they have a bunch of songs in russian, and the singer has russian roots, so his Unity and Peace song message to the world was clearly addressed not only to the good 5/6 parts of it.

The rapping part i didn't particularly like but when the guy sang it was better then anything else. There was so much emotion in that. You could feel the pain and sorrow in his voice. I was the right song that won.

    Noosh, this thing about everybody hating the UK, can it stop? The UK is the compass for world music and yet has been consistently sending its worst backwater barely professional artists to ESC in spite of being one of its big fives. What does that mean? 1) That it was snubbing its own participation and 2) that it wasn't even trying. Now, you might feel differently, but when there are people around the world dreaming of one day mounting that stage since childhood, because it's the biggest live stage in the world with its average 200 million viewers, the audience might be led to think poorly of the candidate who feels that that stage is beneath them.
    And, just like for other kinds of contests, it appears the UK feels entitled to a victory no matter how undeservedly, and then only notices the contest to complain about unfair results the day after.
    So, if people are annoyed at the UK for this kind of attitude, please bear in mind that the annoyment is not the cause, but a consequence of UK's overall poor performance. Sam Ryder is the best thing to happen also for this reason: the guy is positivity made flesh, he genuinely loves Eurovision, he's an amazing artist with a spectacular voice and love for what he does, and he actually knows a lot about the world. I applaud him and I wish him all the best.
