  • Warm Season annuals augment perennial grass/legume pastures for quality late summer/early fall grazing. Segmenting pasture into small blocks with portable electric fencing is key to efficient grazing.
This field was planted July 12, 2020 and grazing began the third week of August 2020. Mix consisted of 20 pounds per acre (ppa) BMR sorghum sudan, 3 ppa Japanese millet, 18 ppa iron and clay cow peas, and 3 ppa sun hemp. All but the cow peas were pre-mixed and metered from the legume box on a Haybuster 107 drill. Cow peas alone (with some screened sawdust) were run thru rear grain box.
