- How do I make On / Off blocks change when I jump?
Ever had that thought, I know I have!
Today we play through a level that makes good use of the 3.0 update. The Mario Bros 2 Mushroom has some really useful qualities, it will jump when you do.
If you put it into a crazy contraption like the one shown, it gives you a VERY ACCURATE jump detector!
Wow, this makes me nostalgic! I remember playing around with night theme for the new items and I noticed this, and I am so glad that people are making such clever set-ups with the smb2 mushroom. I wonder if any kaizo levels will make use of this... DO you know if leaving a boot/dry-bones shell counts as jumping?

Mine only works like, 50% of the time. Like, if it works the first time, it'll keep working, but sometimes the shell goes down then back up, and doesn't hit the switch. Why is this?

If anyone was wondering, to get the night time theme you have to place a sun enemy and make it the moon then it will unlock the night theme

Oh my god thank you so much it's the fricking invisible mushroom platform that I need thank you so much
i was planning to make a level where your jumps are limited. I tried to use a spiky skip squeak rising each time mario jumped incrementally on cloud blocks which would block your path when it reached its zenith but found you could jump again before the skip squeak relanded and so cheat the system. i searched desperately on youtube for an alternative and found this! Thanks so much! i will credit you in the description of my level when it is complete.

You can do it in 3dw too it users a different setup using a skipsqueak with contraptions activating a on/off switch every time you jump activating platforms

You would have to make you level into one screen sections.
Keep an eye out on the channel for a version that will work throughout the entire level.

Im makeing one of those platforms that switch everytime u jump, but for some reason when i walk past it. It just starts aggressively Switching the on off blocks regardless if im jumping or not

Does anyone no a model that doesn't break when you're far away? Basically the blue platform unloads and the buzzy, on-off block, conveyor and ground.

It you get under it, then it will let go of the spring and it will not work. Is it anyway around this?

how do you make it work while off screen
The only problem is it does not work while off screen. I don't even know or understand as to why.
It works if you put a cloud block 2 spots above the lower end of the conveyor belt.

Could you use it to the right, just off screen & hide it with a scroll stop?

How do you get it to work when the mushroom is out of frame?
it has to be as close to the screen as possible, so you have to have the left wall of the contraption to be the right wall of the room.
It only works when the mushroom is visible on screen

welp, time to make a troll level.
Whenever you walk past it, the claw lets go of the spring, breaking the system. I know there's a fix to this, but I can't find it.
You have to have it to the side so that you can't walk past it!
@@PaulLloyd My problem actually eventually was fixed, then suddenly, without jumping, the on/off switch would be activated. I tried a lot of things, and when I got a closer look, what was happening wa: I walk past the second, as I needed it because the first one was too far away, and once I walked past that second device, the beetle just decided to fall, activating the on/off.
Dude is there a way to detect jumps when Mario is far away from that contraption?
There are longer range jump detectors.

How do I make a curved track?
I think you know how to do this because this comment is old
But you make a diagonal track, hold the A button with your cursor over the track, and select one of the curved tracks.
