However, if everybody down the ranks do their part and the people also do their part discipline their children, there won't be as much crime and the 911 would be easily handled. As the saying goes, "evil wins when good people do nothing."
Additionally, she belongs to an ethnicity that was slave to the Chinese way back then, and the Vietnamese were also her ethnicity's enemies back in the day of Vietnam War when her ethnicity was helping the Americans fight the Vietnamese to protect democracy and freedom.
If Thao fails then the people don't deserve peace, they can all go to hell for all I care. Her father was probably saving the American downed pilots when their planes were shot down by the NVA, Vietnamese Army. Just saying. The Vietnamese and Chinese in Oakland and San Francisco area probably hate her only because they think they are the ones who should be mayor since they were her ancestors' masters. Black people should support her because they too were slaves. Let's team up with Thao and rebuild Oakland into a better city into the future.

Shes just a symptom of the voters. If the voters have learned nothing, they will elect another progressive democrats with the same policies.
In California your vote is blue! When you recall one of them....they somehow have the votes to stay in even when in acutality they don't.

In the past there was cycles but now dems realized they can keep blue states blue by increasing the number of unmarried female voters and turn red state blue from their fleeing voters.

Oakland bay area native here. Please do not wait for the Gov't to protect or support you. I would not live in Oakland if you paid me due to car jackings, robberies and deaths. How many stories do we hear of Oakland missing paperwork deadlines or just not taking action on staffing. It is mind blowing that NBC even interviewed the Mayor with these questions. Are we going to make a deadline is the lamest question. These are the questions that should be asked : 1) Are you aware of the violent crimes and deaths in Oakland 2) What do you think is the root cause of the heart breaking situation in Oakland 3) When will you resign.
Good points! If you notice she never answered the questions. Oakland is a city that needs an experienced and exceptional person in the Mayor's position. By the time she learns the job it will be too late and too much damage will have happened on top of what has already happened. Former Mayor Brown wasted time in that position and it wasn't until he did his time he understood that their were "dedicated criminals in Oakland." This is just one of many issues and examples of poor leadership in Oakland. I could name Mayor's in Oakland for the last 25 years or more has wasted time and were poor leaders in Oakland.

She actually wasn’t elected. She won because of this stupid Rank Choice voting. Where she got the votes of the people who got less votes than she did, to beat out the person who had the most votes.

Loren Taylor won the first round of voting. Back in normal times he would have been our mayor, and he would have been a better one than this kid we are stuck with. "Rank(ed) choice" voting brings this bs. Avoid allowing it in your community, it is a disaster. People throw their votes away on fringy candidates who don't stand a chance of winning, then these very same voters whine and complain that 'their voices aren't being heard'.

I bet 911 Dispatch in some places like Oakland is not an easy job. You have to be at your top game for 12 hours straight if that's your schedule, whether you are on day, swing, or graveyard. You're the key to knowing who to send and when to send, watching multiple screens, typing quick and accurate while working the radio, and taking calls. Just sayin...

2:46 only one of the city council members exposed that the HR department was sitting on 100s of job applications for 911 dispatchers positions, for over 1 year. So the mayor is lying. They were supposed to interview these people over a year ago. Over a year ago she was the Mayor. So I don’t want to hear it. Oakland is being ran piss poorly. The Mayor, The City Council none of these people have the Competency to govern and actually run a city. And it’s a lot of corruption going on down there, especially within the police department, that Federal Monitor, and the Mayors office. That’s the only explanation as to why the city is being ran so poorly.

A neighbor of mine, who just got fired from his ex-lawyer job because he was sleeping with a victim/minor took drugs and was drinking. He was harassing a bunch of people in my apartment complex for no reason. If you existed, he would threat to beat you up. I was helping my mom sort through makeup for homeless teens,mothers and women. He saw me and charged straight at me 3 times. Well long story short. It took 10 people including myself to call the police they came in 2 hours. And didn’t even arrest the guy and he was making threats to unalive me and other stuff when the police were right in front of his apartment complex plus his son was wandering the neighborhood with no clothes and looking beaten up. I was shocked how the police wouldn’t do anything just a warning?! When this man said he was gonna unalive me for no reason all they told me was to file a restraining order. 🤦🏽♀️ the guy lives right next door to me how the f is that gonna help? Oakland is a freaking circus of a city that doesn’t care if your SAed, Robbed, Murdered or whatever. If you need things done you better arm yourself or move out of here.

Oakland 911 has been this way for years, many, many years. If you try to call on a weekend night, good luck.
Going down to Oakland Planning and Permit department, the fact that they have literally only inexperienced mostly Asians and white folks working down there explains a lot. No diversity in the hiring anymore. And the department is being ran poorly. Everyone is damn near under the age of 33 years old, and nobody is ever at work. And none of them know what the hell they are doing. Prior to the pandemic, it was A LOT of people working down there, and you can get things done same day. They have literally got rid of almost all the black folks that used to work down there. Oakland is the only city in the Bay Area that’s not being operated and open for business Monday through Friday 9am-5pm. They got all of these weird days and hours that they are available. You can’t get anything done down there after 12 noon. It’s the mostly ridiculous shyt I’ve ever seen.
I ride BART enough to see black people from Fruitvale taking BART to the City at 2pm. GOOD MORNING BLACK AMERICA!
