- "A bunion, medically known as a Hallux Valgus forms when the big toe points towards the second toe, forcing the first metatarsal head to stick out medially. A bunionectomy with correction of the deformity via osteotomy is a surgical procedure to correct a bunion. This involves removing some of the prominence on the big toe at bunion using a saw. The bone saw is then used to create a ‘chevron shaped’ cut towards the distal end of the metatarsal which allows the bones to be realigned. A screw is then inserted to fix the bones into their new corrected position"

Man surgery feels so janky sometimes. The fix for a valgus metatarsal is not finding some way to push the rogue bone back, but you gotta cutty cutty saw blade the edge off, then chacha slide the toe laterally, then PEG IT WITH A SCREW. It feels like that scene from jail break where they cut the guys pinky toe off.

I got this surgery 3 days ago. The surgeons were blasting Aerosmith before the surgery, I think it helped us all get into the mood 😂😂.
What’s the recovery time, and is it painful? I’m thinking of getting it done
@@connyc23 Recovery was about 12 weeks. The first month was really tough. I don't have bunion pain anymore but now sometimes my big toe hurts because of the surgery. Not sure if it was worth it. It's personal preference though

I just had this procedure! Wish it was available 18 years ago when I had the other foot done, pretty much no pain and already walking day 2 of procedure. Day 9 and I’m feeling great!!
As someone who actually had a bunion and got surgery for it. There are 3 different surgical ways to correct it. One the old fashioned way that litterally took half of your big toe tarsal off to realign it, second which was the way I had it and is they do something similar as shown but the brace the toe tarsal with titanium and fuse together some parts if the bones and thirdly the way that is shown. Now my way was garenteed to be the less recovery time method and it took me 6. Freaking. Months to where I could ACTUALLY lift some weight. It took 3 months before I could walk assisted with a boot and crutches. All the while I was forced to be basically bed ridden and lost my job at the time (shitty retail) and was depressed as shit. It was nice right after my surgery tho since cyberpunk2077 just came out and I was "high" off of strong ass pain killers so it was a trip LOL

During the surgery you can either get general anesthesia or, more commonly, local, so you shouldn't feel any pain. But trust me, any surgery involving bones has a VERY painful post-op; once it's healed the initial pain should be gone tho, that's the goal of the procedure @@spartan7119

Is it possible to let the person that took that kind of surgery into an mri scanner?
It's probably titanium which is not affected by an mri also doesn't show up on metal detecters.
But if you do that wouldn't you need to put something over the bone marrow so it doesn't hurt because bone marrow is sensitive

One thing I can't feed my brain is, the human body rejects any outsider object like screws or anything that isn't part of the body which means it'll get infected in no time so the question is do you remove the screw after the bone gets back together?
