Wood on the ceiling was called 'Aspenite', my dad worked at a plant that made it up in Hudson Bay Saskatchewan Canada where we're from. Modern version of it is OSB (Oriented Strand Board) and it's what they sheet houses with these days.

It's pronounced "gar-ring" NOT "jeer-ring"...Kim Gerring started the entire Van Conversion Industry in Elkhart Indiana in 1972. He was my life long friend, my brother-in-law, and an amazing individual. He just passed away this past Sunday (3-10-19) . Innovator, creator. Will be missed immensely.

Blake, thanks so much for sharing. We had a "HeadRest" van when I was a kid. It was very similar to your van - although a little different in paint and interior layout was slightly different. I remember the "HeadRest" design was carved into a piece of wood near the bar area. Would love to know where that van is today. Super Cool! :)

The 1977 Chevy Van was the only one to have the newer side emblems and "CHEVROLET" badge on the rear door AND the 1971 grille. For 1978, that would change to the same grille with the dual headlights and eggcrate grille used on that year's pickups.
