    I know of a bunch MT09 motorcycles around my area and a good number of them on the net. Your MT09 is the only one with this problem that I know of. My MT09 has been trouble free so far and it is a 2022. With the reliability of Yamaha Bikes being what it is, I guess you got that one in a million bummer. I hope it all works out for you.

      Yamaha is certainly known for its reliability. I’m glad to hear that your bike has been trouble free! My scenario does seem to be uncommon…so be it 🤷‍♂️ I’ll be back on the road soon! Stay safe out there 💪

    I’m going to the same problem with my mt09, and another issue that I’m having with the bike is that when you leave it in the hot summer sun for an hour or more it doesn’t start. 😢

      Sorry to hear your having similar issues! Not starting when it’s left in the sun makes me think of some sort of vacuum issue or sensor issue (a proper mechanic might think differently!). Has a shop given you any insight into what might be happening?

    Damn bro be a shame if you leave the MT behind. Had my SP for 7 months 1400miles on it already zero issues thankfully. Best decision I made so much more comfy than my previous R1 and I can actually commute on it unlike my Tuono

      Glad to hear you haven’t had any issues with your MT! It really is a great bike to ride 👌 If mine gets fixed properly, I may hold onto it for a bit…Stay safe out there 💪

    That's a bummer to skip most of the season. I hope you will find a bike as a replacement. Good luck, brother!
    I've recently dropped my MT09 in turn, so glad the repairs are minor and can actually wait till the winter.
    P.S. Damn, I have the same left glove condition. I though I am the only one driving like that :D

      I’m glad you and the bike are mostly alright! Have a safe summer 👌
      Lol that glove is tattered! You’re not the only one 🤣 we should probably get new gloves.

    I really like the look of the Yoshimura but after seeing your issues with oil burning, I decided to get an Akrapovic exhaust because stock tune will run fine according to Yamaha.

      I think you’ve made a good decision 👌 Enjoy the ride!

    Dang that sucks. My first assumption is that the exhaust you had superheated the cylinders and you might have a piston ring that became deformed :\
    Wish you the best man.

      That’s very possible, hopefully we find out more in the next week or two. Thank you 🙏

      Ended up trading the MT in for a T7. The MT seemed to ride okay with little to no oil burn after the ring cleaner. I’m seeing a lot of folks that are running into a similar issue on this bike though. One guy was told that the ring tolerances from the factory weren’t correct or had too much deviation from spec. Which might explain why a larger number of folks, with or without aftermarket exhausts, are seeing some oil loss.

      @@TylerCharest what year bike is yours? I wonder if they fixed the problem by the next year model. Might this be early 3rd gen year's?

    • @TylerCharest
      @TylerCharest  Před měsícem

      @@damacknificent151 This was an early 2021 model. Very likely that Yamaha fixed the issue on later production runs.

    Did u get it tuned after getting an exhaust man? , I know these euro 5 bikes run super lean from factory, so maybe bike had a fuelling issue that caused it to burn oil

    • @TylerCharest
      @TylerCharest  Před 9 měsíci

      Didn’t have a proper tune. You’re probably right about it running super lean and causing the issue.

    How much oil is it burning? I don't see any oil smoke coming out of your exhaust? (trailing behind you in your video)

    • @TylerCharest
      @TylerCharest  Před rokem

      It burned about a third of a quart over 700 miles. Sometimes I can smell it, but it’s not really visible coming out of the exhaust.

    Any update on the cause??

    • @TylerCharest
      @TylerCharest  Před rokem +1

      The warranty process has been very slow moving, but it seems that cylinders 1 and 2 are losing compression. Might need new rings or a new head gasket. Should know more in the next week or so 🤞
