I was born in 82 and even though this song had no part in my childhood it still grants me nostalgic pleasure. I think it's funny that it's now one of my favourite songs at 41 years old.
I was 7 when this song came out.....the 80s had the best music! Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, 80s Rock bands, Def Leppard.....dance it was awesome....then everything went downhill from there
In 1983 I was only 12 years old!!! I didn’t understand what it was like to feel good about listening to a song but it stuck in my heart and today I feel that emotion loudly…. So life became lighter!!!! Yesterday is always today!!!❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
So many memories of great times a few bad , and all the friends at that time, sadly a few have gone , but still have them in memories. This is such a classic Roxy song for sure , like Damce away and Avalon too.
This song just hits me differently. I was pretty immune to it at the time it was out, my dad loved it though. It really hits me deeply now. It's so Intelligent and emotional.
The come back with Ferry, Manzanera and Mackay in the 80s gave drummers and bassists the chance to earn some pounds for miming ))). Here it's Phil Gould and Tony Levin
A posse of us in a minibus on the way to the Stonehenge free festival in 1984 - the driver played the Roxy Music Avalon cassette and wrapped in a wet towel and stuffed into the roofrack was a flagon of Festival Ale. It was my fourth and last time at the Stonehenge free festival and hearing this brings back so many memories of the event. The 80's were so different from what we have now, we had more freedom, people were nicer, music was better, even polticians were better though at the time we despised Thatcher.
This song is just pure magic wow thanks heaps fantastic voice and does it make our senses. Really grab ànd get us moving great stuff thanks heaps fantastic 😀 song love it oh yeah
Oh the 80's! "More than this" later on. Let the captivating melodies of the 80s weave into the fabric of our minds and souls, becoming an eternal symphony that inspires us to dance through the rhythm of life. Allow the timeless tunes of that era to ignite the flame of creativity within, echoing the spirit of a vibrant and unforgettable era. Embrace the power of the music that transcends time, and let it be a source of inspiration that fuels our dreams and aspirations, creating a soundtrack for the extraordinary journey of our lives.
Crazy to spot Tony Levin 'playing' bass here, as he did not play on Avalon. He did play on Boys & Girls' Slave to Love 3 years later. Who hasn't he played with?!! Dude must be 1 degree of separation from everybody in the music industry back to the '70s'; what a legend.
Amazing , I wish I could turn back time and go bactvto the late 70s and 80s .Living atvhomecin Dublin , I got to go with my sister to see them live .Fanastic.!!!
This music meaning : Enjoy the "today" as much as possible and wait as little as possible of "tomorrow". In this short journey of life, happiness lies on the path and not the final destination.
They’re mining to the recorded track. Was for ever a sore point with many bands on this show that wanted to play live. But the BBC very rarely allowed it. Some bands, big enough to get away with it, used to deliberately play or mess about out of time with the track to show their displeasure at having to lip sync the track.
All these years and I never knew. What a fantastic drummer he is. The best years of Level 42 by far. Not easy to find drummers like Phil Gould who possess naturally the hardest part of drumming there is to learn: Feel. Some more “ technical “ drummers may have followed him but he was an integral part of the sound of Level 42, which they never recovered.
I think I spent years of my life trying to find a guy who could be my Bryan Ferry :D Some looked a tiny bit like him, some dressed like him or moved like him - never got the full package, of course, disappointment after disappointment!
For those wondering about the bowtie and jacket... This was the tail-end of the punk era. Ferry was going anti-fashion, going his own way. I'll admit it's not a great look. But, compared to heroin chic punk, it kinda works, sorta.
Avalon was their crowning achievement. I can't get over that this is the same band who recorded "Out of the Blue" and "Do the Strand" ten years earlier.
At age 62, I miss being the young woman I was in the 80s. However, there's no better time machine than music, especially music like this.
Our twenties were magical times for sure
Well said!
Yes! met my future wife in a club, Roxy Music playing....
Smoke a joint it's ok.
62 is not old .
Bryan Ferry. What a brilliant song and the stunning achievement of being The only man to make the bow tie look cool.
Along with Bill Nye maybe.
and Fozzie Bear
Prof. Heinz Wolff?
In fairness to Bryan, there is not much he could not make cool. One of the most stylish men.
Sweet memories ❤❤❤
Just hearing this brings calm to my mind and a wishing of better days gone. A classic in every respect.
Everytime I hear this song I remember loves gone and lost . It make me feel nostalgic of the ‘80.
Yes, "fallen leaves in the night." Powerful imagery.
Most 80s song ever made
same here, my dad used to do his dance to me as I looked on bemused, he's gone now and this makes me cry
❤❤
Best song ever fab singer lots of memories back then
I was born in 82 and even though this song had no part in my childhood it still grants me nostalgic pleasure. I think it's funny that it's now one of my favourite songs at 41 years old.
a Roxy Music + Level 42 + King Crimson supergroup!
this song makes me feel nostalgic. this was the best thing about the 80s . the music was so diverse. .
Ethereal.
*Agreed!* But to me personally, the 70s was the best decade. The 60s and 80s come close though. I particularly love 1982 (the year this was from).
I was 7 when this song came out.....the 80s had the best music! Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, 80s Rock bands, Def Leppard.....dance it was awesome....then everything went downhill from there
1982. I was 21 years old. What a beautiful time to be young.
Tony bloody Levin is everywhere! He's played with all of the best bands from the 80s.
The whole album is great . Needs to be listened to in track order
Most of my teenage years were in the 80’s…. What a great time to be alive!! Thank you for upload 👍🏻

The GREAT Brian Ferry!
His voice is so amazing
'Was' NOT 'is'.
Bryan Ferry is a cool classy singer who has contributed so very much to music!
this song... gets me every time!
music from another world
Alienating kinda something ! Sooo much better than the rest of all of us .
This is one song that you love to sing the verses than the chorus. Totally love it.
what a beautiful music voice, this band is show.Brain Ferry sings a lot 🌺
So many memories of great times a few bad , and all the friends at that time, sadly a few have gone , but still have them in memories. This is such a classic Roxy song for sure , like Damce away and Avalon too.
GTA VICE CITY ❤ NOSTALGIA
Uma obra de arte essa música. Uma das mais belas de todos os tempos.
This song just hits me differently. I was pretty immune to it at the time it was out, my dad loved it though. It really hits me deeply now. It's so Intelligent and emotional.
Incredible singer good old days
The come back with Ferry, Manzanera and Mackay in the 80s gave drummers and bassists the chance to earn some pounds for miming ))). Here it's Phil Gould and Tony Levin
Phil Gould of Level 42 fame, as well as Tony collaborates regularly with Peter Gabriel to this day. Stellar musicians 😁
@@bernlin2000 Paul Thompson probably the most underrated British drummer. At the time. John Bonham. Ian Pace. Bill ward. Etc etc.

Incredible song...
Simply iconic in every way…. love him so much ❤
Hearing this again after many years , actually made me cry once ! Many years ago , by now already . I'm 58 soon , but this song is younger .

I love his style
Leather jacket
State/black chinos
Purple shirt
And a match bow tie color
Thats truly gentleman hell yeah.....
Best Roxy Music video I have seen! Love this song and Bryan Ferry's voice and look! Thank you for posting this!
The brilliant Phil Gould from level 42 on drums
Plus Tony Levin on bass (King Crimson etc) if I see that correctly.
Paul thompson es el baterista miembro original de roxy music tony lewin solamente era seccion fue de invitado nada mas
This song is just pure magic wow thanks heaps fantastic voice and does it make our senses. Really grab ànd get us moving great stuff thanks heaps fantastic 😀 song love it oh yeah
Black and white TVs, big plastic telephones, box shaped cars with rectangle taillamps and square headlamps… this song conjures the soul of the 1980s
💕 Love This 💝 Song~
Timeless….what a beautiful song.
80s music full of love and memories 💕
Smooth as a cashmere codpiece.
Brilliant iconic British band so blessed with music like this
Wow! The best quality of this song! Thanks!
Masterpiece !!!! From the KING !!!
My dad loved his music stil does to this day I think

Oh this is just wonderful
Phil Gould - Level 42, on drums💪🏻
Tony Levin on bass ... majestic!
Bryan always gives me a vibe of Nicolas Cage in "Peggy Sue Got Married". It's those eyes.
Ha! Was just thinking the same thing 😂
Guys a legend 👌🏻
And Phil Gould on drums ( Level 42 )
Devastatingly wonderful ! I ain't got no further words on this !
É gostoso de se ouvir esta música, romântica dos anos 80. Bailes e reuniões dançantes. Gratidão
Simply fantastic
I love it!
at min 3:28 the kids dancing in the audience
Amazing , I wish I could turn back time and go bactvto the late 70s and 80s .Living atvhomecin Dublin , I got to go with my sister to see them live .Fanastic.!!!

This music meaning : Enjoy the "today" as much as possible and wait as little as possible of "tomorrow".
In this short journey of life, happiness lies on the path and not the final destination.
Maybe so, but if you enjoy today too much, your tomorrows will be less enjoyable.
genios totales para siempre, nada como los 80
Great song
And a sad song, about a breakup
At what point did he sneak the toothpick into his mouth? Very smooth Mr Ferry!
2:49
my question too
I love these lip synch shows. They don’t even try to hide the mistakes 😀
What???
They’re mining to the recorded track.
Was for ever a sore point with many bands on this show that wanted to play live. But the BBC very rarely allowed it. Some bands, big enough to get away with it, used to deliberately play or mess about out of time with the track to show their displeasure at having to lip sync the track.
Phil Gould from Level 42 on Drums
Clem Fandango It doesn’t look like he’d learn’t the track that well judging by the cymbal crashes in the wrong place😂
@@rogerhoner3718 yeah Tony's def. giving him the stink-eye @ 1:13
He probably was in official music video too!
All these years and I never knew. What a fantastic drummer he is. The best years of Level 42 by far. Not easy to find drummers like Phil Gould who possess naturally the hardest part of drumming there is to learn: Feel.

@@muppetrowlf1473 No question Phil Gould was the soul of that band, he could make a back beat feel like it's about to fall off a table!!
Love this one...
Santo por Dios!! Que belleza de canción, espectacular!! Porque carajos no la descubrí antes!
Because you're to young ?
i veri ideatori della buona musica
Ferry - o 007 do pop romântico!
It was already cool.....& then the matchstick!
La canzone più bella di tutti i tempi!
Contrived, yet so innocent now in the internet age, I'd go back tomorrow.
Essa música e linda em qualquer versão, adoro ,linda 🥰😍🤩❤⚘💃💃💃💃
It was nice to be alive then, an era never to be replicated (including music).
Man.. how good i felt back then during listening to this
Dopo pochi mesi, dalla pubblicazione di questo brano, Bryan Ferry lasciava i Roxy Music, dissolvendo, così, un sogno durato pochi anni.
Love it!
Phil Gould(Level 42)played drums on this track
Did not expect Tony Levin there
Only came to the comments to check if someone had noticed the same thing. Haha. He pops up randomly everywhere, doesn’t he?
@@PatrickJWenzel looks like he was the on-call bassist back then, I even found him playing gigs with Richie Sambora early 90s
This was a bit of a hit but isn't it just miles better and much more memorable than some of the stuff that sold much more back in the '80's?
Wow.
I love the new video .
I am great fan of roxy music.
simply brilliant
*40 years on, this remains my favorite track of all time; as cliched and oft-used the declaration may sound .. :)
This is the epitome of real music 🤘🏼
Bello...
este tema le gustaba al cantante de sumo , espectacular
Amo sei la stella piu' bella che c'e'😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think I spent years of my life trying to find a guy who could be my Bryan Ferry :D
Some looked a tiny bit like him, some dressed like him or moved like him - never got the full package, of course, disappointment after disappointment!
But actually being Bryan Ferry didn't seem to work out romantically from what I've read.
This ist thé Real New wave, i used to Ask thé DJ of m'y job to play this song every night. Super roxy super ferry.
Phil Gould from Level 42 on drums, he's a baby 😂
Salam bravo monsieur le dernier album de roxi music
Lembro do meu primeiro amor em 1982
The girl to the right of phill 246 in white was beautiful
1. Where the hell did he get a toothpick from?
2. 3:07-3:15 he's like this is my favorite part! I got em now! Lmao 🤣
For those wondering about the bowtie and jacket...
This was the tail-end of the punk era.
Ferry was going anti-fashion, going his own way.
I'll admit it's not a great look. But, compared to heroin chic punk, it kinda works, sorta.
Charlie Bronson on bass😊
Phil Gould from Level 42 on drums 🥁👍😀
Beautiful smile , Bryan Ferry. Yrs i saw it 😂❤
Avalon was their crowning achievement. I can't get over that this is the same band who recorded "Out of the Blue" and "Do the Strand" ten years earlier.
All of them equally brilliant but yeah, an interesting musical evolution.
One of the great pop songs from the 80s. Never heard him hit the high notes in live performances though.
Tony Levin!
The video that just keeps on giving. 1st Phil Gould. Now Tony Levin!
The immaculate Tony Levin. I did like Dempsey on bass as well.
Hey fabulous job re-syncing this clip! I don't know who directed the official music video they released for this superb song, but it was appalling!
Was that Tony Levin on Base guitar.???, Sure looked like him.!!!
