my yorkie does the same thing when I'm trying to cut around her eyes and turns to me. Also when I'm washing her legs and rinsing her off she lifts each leg for me lol
I bath/brush my yorkie Weekly/every other day and he still gets little mats here and there (long hair + outside daily)!!! So I know how tedious it is… and enough with the owner shaming because it’s hard out here for a pimp lol 😂

Couldn't agree more! A bad owner won't put a jersey on their doggie and bring them to the groomers. Most people are doing the best they can
Yes! I usually take my Yorkie's sweater off daily to brush her out, but if I skip a day or two, the matting gets bad quickly. And, she needs a sweater because Yorkie's don't have fur to keep them warm in the wintertime.
This was the best behaved dog!! Lifting her head up so you could do her chin.. she loved this spa day.!! Great job!!!👍

This dog is a pure angel! I can't believe how good she was!!❤️ She looks like my daughter's Morky who is a pure wiggle worm. Never would he is been this good.
I will be a new Yorkie owner and this was so interesting. I will never let mine get so matted(never say never) but I learned so much.
That cutie dog has a wonderful temperament. Hope the owners keep up with her grooming.

With being a pet parent of multiple shihtzus( and a yorkie) I am truly appalled that these pet parents aren't educated enough to do just every day maintenance on thier babies!! I mean it's common sense. I'm just shaking my head in disbelief. Thank goodness for people like you with the patience and grace to deal graciously with the parents and help the fur babe not to be miserable!! You are amazing!!!
I just don't understand. My morkie Dexter does not like to be brushed but I still wrangle him up and brush him. My biggest fear is him getting matted up like some of the rescues I have seen on tv.
You honestly think people have common sense? We're an idiot creature. We don't think about anything we do. I'm shocked that you're shocked that most of the world is uneducated in this kind of thing. I think dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and other pets all cost way too little and require next to no brain cells to acquire. (I'm a rabbit owner, you wouldn't believe how many people are idiots out there who own rabbits)
People need more training, that's all. if Dede can educate people on how to maintain their pets, then all the power to her.
Same can be said about kids, come to think of it. People pop them out then ignore. We're just a garbage species, through and through.

I totally agree with all of you. I watch all these grooming videos not just Dedes and am appalled at how many of them that have owners who do this. If you don't the want the responsibility of a long haired dog then don't get one. This is cruel to the dog and abusive. Because they can't say mom or dad, please brush me. Would you do this to your daughters. Mine would Scream every morning, but it had to get done. And the same thing with the dog. There are plenty of short haired dogs out there all im Saying
When grooming a matted Yorkie do you bathe them first and then use the electric trimmer? Where can I find more information about your stand up helper, our Yorkies have knee problems. I agree 100% with what you are saying about manufacturing in the USA, I am in Canada and buy if made here and my next choice is always USA!
Thank you for sharing this, I find it very helpful. Lily is a saint, none of my three Silkys would have been that cooperative. I only wish that you had praised her more often for her good behavior.
You have made me have more respect than ever for groomers, I never knew how difficult it could be. Love this video more than all the others only because of the breed of dog - you are right it isn’t a complete Yorkie breed it’s a Silky Terrier which 99% of the time people just call it a Yorkie. I have a Silky Terrier and he has a shorter cut as well and his hair is extremely soft! They have the cute floppy ears too where as a Yorkie has pointed upright ears. Love your videos💕

I am not a dog groomer but I love animals and I watch you every day I also tell my friends to watch you and I have a friend that’s a dog groomer and she’s only just starting out so I have told all her about you . I asked her to watch you because I think you’re brilliant with the dogs and you’re really fast and caring with your animals which is so important.Just to let you know I am in England

I could watch dog grooms by Dede all day long. You always do the really hard cases and turn out beautiful dogs after. I think clothes only work on freshly groomed dogs, not on a matted overgrown mess like that poor girl. Bless you Dede, you are a dog send to these dogs and their owners.

You are an experienced groomer and a patient one too. Thank you for being so loving to this sweet yorkie as she definitely needed your help. I get my baby groomed regularly and yes a Yorkies hair can get out of hand quickly if not tended to daily. I enjoyed your video.
Okay, I just cannot get over how ADORABLE and SWEET this little girl is!! 😍😘😙😚❤❤❤❤ I've never seen a more calm and co-operative pupper!! Lifting her leg and everything, trying to help the groomer 😍 I'd have a real hard time resisting the urge to take her in my arms and run away, if I was her groomer 😂

Hi Dede. I groom my own dog. She is a mix of 5 breeds, Poodle, Pug, Chihuahua, Doxie, and Terrier. She looks like a miniature Golden Retriever. Anyway, I have learned so much on how to groom her, from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

She’s being awesome!!! Such a trooper with all of it. I just got a yorkie and have taken it to the groomer once. Need to do it again since it’s been almost two months. I don’t think I have the best comb/brush so I’m watching videos to see if I should be doing something different. I don’t want my baby to get matted. Thank you for taking such good care of this sweetie.

I recently had a Yorkie who needed to be rescued when her owner died unexpectedly. He isn’t this bad, but close. When he gets to the groomer, I will not complain about the price. Rocky is a jumping bean and I can’t imagine he will be this still. His previous owner did keep him groomed until he got sick, so maybe he will. Thank you.

Seriously you call that matting? She has a silk coat all she needed was a wash condition and comb out. Maybe the owner didn't know any better but you should.

I just rescued a yorkie about a month ago, he’s about a year old and quite rambunctious. I’m very nervous about having him groomed but he needs it. He just can’t seem to sit still for very long, although he absolutely loves getting brushed!

She was such a good dog when u were shaving her !! I have a German shepherd/lab , shih tzu terrier and a purebred shih tzu. I do groom my shih tzu terrier and it's a lot of fun I have learned so much from sitting here and watching your videos. We did rescue our purebred shih tzu and we try to groom him but he is a bit aggressive so we try to take things slow and don't push it. I have always been debating what I want to do as a job when I get done school and I think I might take the schooling or course to become a groomer , I love animals and have what's wanted to work with them. 💙💙💙
I don't understand people who don't brush long haired dogs. Like you brush your own hair every day why doesn't your dog deserve the same treatment
insidiousChaos i have three yorkis and always groomed them myself as i cant afford groomers on a fixed income . they never had mats until this year, my son passed, and you know what some days im too depressed to be as meticulous with my dogs, at least this woman could afford help. Judging doesnt help, people maybe in a despairing place ' if your not , you will be one day.
Debi Barrington exactly what I was going to say. I adore my dog and also happen to struggle immensely with depression. I was so isolated I wouldn’t even brush my own hair for months. My dog also suffered but she was never matter to the point of dreads. Matter in some areas. It’s easy for people to assume laziness is the problem but not always. Dogs are forgiving and understanding creatures and know when you’re struggling. I’ve now started looking after my dog regularly and even started to learn how to groom myself. It’s given me a reason to get out of the house and benefits my baby. Hope you’re well and aren’t suffering too badly. It’s been a year but pain lasts unfortunately. X

wendy Taylor I was thinking the same thing, where is her tail. I have a yorkie, you don’t leave the hair in the ears long. I don’t think she is a full yorkie. Don’t tell me they had her tail docked if she is. Poor little sweetie
Wendy-when I adopted my Yorkie/Pom she was 10 months old, the previous owner had her tail docked, Now get this, I also have a cocker spaniel & she has a tail!!! LOL Vets done't like to dock tails anymore, but I am sure there's still vets out there in it for the money only & would do it. That goes for dogs ears too.

My dog hasnt been to groomer in awhile. No excuse for mats. Just comb their hair & bathe. Im grooming him myself this week. Hes a silky maltese but looks pure yorkie. Good on u for taking on the doggie and helping him

I’m not a groomer but a fur momma with a show dog quality Maltese in full coat and after years of grooming her I can tell you that I could have gotten those matt’s out without shaving her though it would have taken a long time to do, longer than the usual time allotted a groomer in her shop.

What a well behaved little girl. I love her!!! The way she sits & waits for you to change tools then stands back up for you. Its like she gets this done all the time but obviously she doesn't. I just got a morkie puppy & theres no way I'd let this happen to her. I know sometimes people go through things but if you can't handle taking care of your dog then find someone who can. This little girl is the bees knees. Lol

Such a sweet doggie. She seems to trust you completely. I have a Yorkie now and he is so scared of scissors. I was trying to cut some of his facial hair and he fought me like crazy. He was only about 6 months old.
That puppa was so good during that video you could tell she was nervous I love what you do to help these dogs and the owners learn on what to do and about daily grooming it’s really important if you want to avoid situations like this wish people would listen if you don’t have time don’t get a dog no excuse I have many pets and I look after them no matter how busy I am
