- Vislor Turlough is a student of retired Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (himself a former companion of the Doctor) at the Brendon Public School. After a near death experience in an antique automobile he is contacted by the malevolent Black Guardian, who offers to take him home if he kills the Doctor.

The story that messed up the UNIT timeline. Excellent story though.
The Doctor had a device attached to the TARDIS to confuse the Black Guardian about his movements after he denied him the Key To Time. It was odd that he didn‘t get the Doctor a lot sooner after he removed it to randomise a bad Argolin‘s duplicates and destroyed it by error. He had to wait until sometime after the Doctor entered his 5th incarnation.
