Honestly, the only *fake* thing about it is it wasn't a legit skyblock world. Everything else was fully legit. You didn't cheat the items or effort that went into the sky island itself, and I'd even argue the extra effort of setting it up and hiding what evidence you could was still an impressive ordeal, especially when one fall could not only *lose* you your hardcore world as a whole, but reveal the entire gameplan in an embarrassing fail. Honestly, pretty impressive altogether.
It's a cool idea though. You can have all your build stuff in ur main world or hardcode world. But for hardcore it's risky 😢

The original SkyBlock was set in a cold biome with snow and freezing water. So not that suspicious.

@@LoonyMC Actually the original skyblock _wasn't_ in a cold biome*.
When the challenge came out, it wasn't in a snowy biome, however the map file when moved to the next version then did change to being in a snowy biome.
After the change, it was decided the challenge was more fun because of the biome, and so in line with tradition most subsequent maps were intentionally placed in snowy biomes.
So the original map was not intentionally in a cold biome, it was a happenstance of a version change.
Fair play on making it believable, it def was confusing to think you started a new series and just leaving the old hardcore behind, but it seems there was an answer, not far away lmao

I actually think it's very normal for (almost) nobody to have caught on because there wasn't a reason to actually mistrust you. Fake also seems like a strong word cause you actually did the whole thing and it was a very cool side project :3

A major spoiler is you didn't unlock recipes as you would in a normal new world. Like if you fall in water you unlock boat recipe, you get wood and unlock sticks and crafting table recipe, but it didn't happen, because you already unlocked all recipes in the game
And advancements too

To the people who didn’t watch the video: Basically long story short, he built up really high and recreated a skyblock map up there and started from scratch. Only one long-time viewer figured out that he wasn’t actually on a skyblock map but rather his already-existing hard-core world.

I mean you still followed the rules of the challenge, just in your own world. So for me it's not a fake. Skyblock is a concept, no need for a particular map.

I don't really see your point here tbh. Sure, you faked the shyworld world by having your actual hradcore world underneath, but unless I'm missing something, you didn't cheat in any way. So wouldn't that mean that it's practically not a fake hardcore skyblock playthrough since the challenge was the same, if not greater as you were risking your world?

The sandstone certainly would've been a tell for anyone who paid that much attention to your inventory. But some of the other stuff really isn't. It's been over a decade since I last played Skyblock, there are many interpretations and updated versions these days, so things like mushrooms in flower pots (not sure how mushrooms normally behave on glowstone, but as a map creator you'd want to make sure they don't pop off on a block update) or part of the world being in a snowy biome could very well be intentional to make sure you can get certain items.
I guess the most obvious tell should've been you removing the water you were using to float - there's no way someone with a combined 10000+ days in Minecraft Hardcore would make such a blunder.
That said, what would've happened if you had fallen off before getting the means to survive the impact with your Hardcore world? Losing the world in a supposedly completely separate series sounds like a certain way to make a lot of people tilt.
The sandstone doesn't really mean anything. How many Skyblocks are there? I bet _at least_ one has sandstone. Nothing really meant anything aside from the exp at the start.
@@RipleySawzen I'm pretty sure I've seen a skyblock where the entire bottom layer is sandstone so that none of the sand falls unless you try to mine the bottom.
The biggest fact here is that loony slept intentionally 🤯 never thought we would see the day and looking back the signs stared us in the face and paid no mind to them very well played loony😂

It being in a snow biome makes it less suspicious in my opinion as the original skyblock map in either release 1.0 or 1.2 (I forgot which one) got set to a snow biome from biomes changing with those updates.

At some point during video 3 I was thinking how funny it would be if this was in your Hardcore world but I'm still so new with Minecraft and it's mechanics that didn't even consider it could actually be possible option.

I would argue that you did the opposite of faking it, you took painstaking steps to make sure the experience was as authentic as possible! If thats faking it, then so are all the museums that show reconstructions of dinosaur skeletons!

For real, there’s nothing of real substance here. An impressive enough skyblock run I guess, but a million people have done that ATP. Just 13 minutes of some dude patting himself on the back for “FOOLING EVERYONE!!!” when there was really nothing to even be tricked over.

Was the point that render distance could be used to cover up a real world below? Falling off and not dying because of water below would essentially just be an in-game version of duplicating the world file or reverting to a backup.
Though, I'm starting to believe this video isn't geared towards older audiences, so theorizing about what exactly the point was is kind of just a time sink.

I have my phone set, so at nine pm it goes to black and white (it helps with sleep), I noticed the smooth sandstone in the inventory. I even though "what's that block?" but ultimately was too lazy to turn off the black and white, just to see what block it was.
I enjoyed the series, and it was realistic. The signs were there, but to be honest, a lot of skyblock maps break, so people just cheat and fix the issues. Also the snow can just mean it's in a cold biome.
I don't expect content creators to announce every time the map breaks or something. I ultimately don't care, I watch because it's entertaining, and if someone creates the map in creative or hardcore (Loony you madman, damn), it basically doesn't change anything. When I play some map or challenge, there are times I need to cheat, just so I can play. I'm not gonna be mad at someone, because they needed to do the same.

damn and I was really looking forward to finding out how you dealt with not having lava for the rest of the skyblock 😂 but I admit I wasn't expecting the twist to be "this is actually way HIGHER stakes than you thought."
I wouldn't say the series was faked, just simulated. After all, the challenge you faced was real, just with different stakes

I did see you didnt get the Recipe Unlocked thing on the top right, but I just ignored the thought... Because on a SkyBlock map I had made for my friends I had already used the /give command to already unlock all recipes on them and I thought this map used a similar datapack. Nice prank and would be the best if sent out on April 1st...

Faked the series by just playing actual normal skyblock in a different world. No wonder everyone was fooled, the fact you're in another save has no bearing on the playthrough basically at all.
You could've started an actual skyblock series and I would've watched so I don't understand why the deception but that was a fun reveal anyways! Could you not have popped a totem to drain your XP all the way or does it not work that way? I had never played Skyblock so i didn't realize that the snow was out of place and the advancements I just assumed were edited out. All in all, it's not out of place to think that you'd start a different kind of challenge just to mix up the content variety so I'm actually a little sad that there won't be more skyblock. I am excited to try that string duper in my own world though! Thanks for the ride Looney!

I never played Skyblock, I only play regular Minecraft. At first I was just wondering why you weren't mining the Center-Block (the one which gives you blocks and mobs one after another), then I thought maybe it's another version of Skyblock... also the "murder" of the chickens got me thinking, when no death message occured cause of the void... but I thought maybe it got cut in the editing... you still got me fooled. I never thought that this wasn't Skyblock!

My only note is that you probably should've done this over an ocean. It wouldn't have had the problem of snow, and if you fell the water would've saved your hardcore world. Bit cheeky, though.
(Also sticking your stuff in an ender chest and punch-killing the chest could've saved your stuff instead of the hoppers, in that case.)

I just said on episode 4 that the only thing I noticed was you not buliding lower down. I also did see snow later on but I figured that it was a map in a different biome; nothing says you have to start in plains. If weʼre counting things on that level, it does also explain why you did villager trades instead of a passive mob farm.
I didn't watch your videos but I am impressed about what you did. Sounds like an idea I have years ago about making random things in a normal world like skyblock. But you did it with the element of surprise. Respect
