  • In this video I am reviewing a Manzo cat back exhaust system for the MKV (MK5) GTI. I will take you through the unboxing, installation, and then before and after sound clips.
    These inexpensive Manzo cat back exhaust systems can be found on eBay and elsewhere online. Likely similar to Godspeed, Top Speed, OBX, Megan Racing, and other brands. Definitely a good value for the price, but expect to have to modify to fit properly. These are intended to be a bolt on exhaust system but mine required some additional modifications to fit out of the box. Minimum one cut and re-weld is necessary to get the tips to line up in my case.
    The sound is excellent once installed. No highway drone and a good deep tone without being too raspy. I would highly recommend this system for the price. It is a great alternative to spending 3+ times as much on AWE, Borla, Magnaflow, Eurojet, Milltek etc.
    Keep in mind this is stock diameter tubing so if you need a 3" exhaust for your MKV GTI you will have to look elsewhere. Also, my car in this video is mostly stock. I do have an air intake and BOV spacer but this should not affect the sound of my exhaust. If you need even more noise, I would suggest also upgrading your downpipe to a catless downpipe.

    Great video dude! No bias at all and a good honest review.

    I actually have the manzo exhaust on my g35 it fit without welding. It was a tight fit but not rattles or hitting. I too like the sound and quality of it for the money. Its nice to see others running manzo and not just bad talking it.
    For anyone watching this looking for just general quality of manzo,just know your results may very and adjustments may or nay not be needed.

      Funny i come across this video that i commented on over a year ago, researching exhaust for a gti i recently bought.
      If anyone is wondering, the manzo catback has held up fine. The manzo resonated testpipes haven't held up well. They rattle and the inside resonator part is all broken. The megan y pipe is holding strong as well.

    how do people deal with CEL's after modifying their exhaust everything I want to do will throw a CEL and i dont want to get a flash tune for it

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 3 lety

      I guess it depends on what you modified... if you remove the oxygen sensors or mess with the cats enough that the O2 sensors are getting weird readings you will likely have to reflash your ecu to compensate

    I have the same Manzo catback. Fit was perfect except that it whistles like a freight train at wot. The whistle was cool the first few months, but now it's very annoying. If I had the money before I bought this, I should've went a different route or just do a muffler and/or reso delete.

    I bought this same exhaust for my 07 GTI. I hate it. It sits cockeyed so the tips aren't straight, it bangs against my sub-frame when I hit bumps and worst of all is whistles when I accelerate hard.

      Sorry to hear about your experience. Maybe contact the manufacturer. As I said in my video, the exhaust had to be cut and welded to get it to fit right too.

      Explain a little more, VW stuff new to me , assisting my son and he has a Unitronic DP on a MKV stage 2, mated to stock catback. He wants more sound, I suggested rather than spending a wack on a catback to just change out muffler but I am assuming the resonator plays a big part, Any suggestions on ideas, my other concern is getting a cell.

    With tweaking required to get the system to fit under the car, how much did the shop charge you for the install?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 7 lety +3

      I believe the additional cost was about $150 CDN... this included the regular fee for cat back install, one cut and weld, replaced my old clamp, and then 13% tax around here. Hope that gives you an idea!

  • @kiddcisco
    @kiddcisco Před 5 lety +1

    Do you have downpipe installed?

    • @EmbraceMaking

      Nope! Was only the catback in the video!

      @@EmbraceMaking installing a Unitronic to my sons 09 MKV as he moves up t Stage 2 w it, he's enjoying the car. Put some nice Riva MX7 rims on it , DSG tune w ECU tune Stage 2 will rock pretty good for the car

    When you put the exhaust on did the check light came on or you already had it on?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 7 lety

      It was already on... many issues with the electrical on this car, not related to the after market exhaust

      @Quinton Kihn My son has had an 09 MKV GTI w the TSI motor for 19mths, the car has been super solid and it now has 118km on it. He recently went stage 2 with Unitronic after having Stage 1 for about 10 mths. We have not had any issues at all . If you tune go one heatplug range lower , check the coil packs and just usual service.

    Could just buy a good muffler n take to shop n have welded up with tips cheaper then u spent lol

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 6 lety

      I would agree this would be cheaper if you're sticking with the same diameter tube. In this case this system was not a larger tube so you're probably right

  • @videsh84
    @videsh84 Před 7 lety

    Awesome, did you get a noticeable performance difference?

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 7 lety

      Hi videsh, I did not notice a performance gain. The exhaust diameter is the same as stock. The muffler may be more of a straight through design so there may be a very slight gain in that aspect, but I believe a downpipe would be a better choice for performance. This was more for a better sound :) Thanks for watching!

    I hate automatics with n exhaust sounds so off

    • @EmbraceMaking
      @EmbraceMaking  Před 7 lety +9

      Technically the GTI isn't a conventional automatic.... DSG ... I kind of like the way it sounds when you blip gears.
