  • Finally upgraded from a 8 year old PC to a 13’’ iPad Pro with M4 chip and 1Tb of storage. I used to be a premier pro user but ever since shooting with my Canon R5c I’ve been handicapped on using 8k because my computer would just crash. I downloaded and for the DaVinci Resolve app and gave it a go with high expectations. Although a larger learning curve over FCP I would choose DR any day of the week! Just insanely better. Some quick edit notes.
    - Edited on a 1080p timeline
    - Disabled effects to cut, edit and add audio for smoothest playback
    - Exported in 4k
Color correction for Canon RAW LT
    - Color Science = DaVinci YRGB Colored Managed
    - Deselected Auto Color Management
    - Color Processing Mode = HDR DaVinci wide Gamut Intermediate
    - Output Color Space = REC.709 Gamma 2.4
This will get you pretty spot on and will look a bit on the over exposed side. Once you balance the exposure in RAW edit mode you can bring down the exposure and I think it looks great. Make some color corrections boost some contrast and saturation and pretty much done. In camera I try to keep the waveform no higher than 80.
The more I use this camera the more I love it. I wish Canon would hook it up though with a few more features via firmware.
    - 4k120 Face AF like the c70 has
    - CLOG2
But with the announcement or the R5ii and R1 I’m sure Canon is going to abandon the R5c. Still I’ll be happy with this camera for many years to come for what I use it for.

Thank you so much for uploading. I’ll watch it on my 8k screen when I’m back home by Wednesday. Edit. Just realized you uploaded in 4k. I’ll watch it on a 4k tv then . Thank you . You’ve been so helpful. Really appreciate it

@@FrankNanaBoakye let me know how it looks. It’s in a 4k timeline so not sure how it will show on an 8k screen. Gonna try to do a 8k export and see how it fairs.

@@jdpst20 hi. Just watched and it doesn’t look that good on tv unfortunately. I guess it’s got to do with your export settings. Also I’ll be looking out for your 8k export

@@FrankNanaBoakye what TV. ensure that when you play back if from fire tv or CZcams app it’s set to 4k playback. I always find that CZcams defaults to like 720p or worse!

@@jdpst20 lol it’s Samsung QLED. Lol Yeah I know how to set it to 4k. It looks bad and average tbh. Compare your video to other canon r5c videos online

This color grading looks weird. Too muted highlights, too low contrast, too orange. R5C is capable of much better results.

Yeah I’m editing on an iPad so that could be the issue. I’m traveling right now so it’s hard to view it on a proper monitor. I’m not claiming I’m some professional but def wanna keep learning. Do you have some advice for an iPad editor?
