- A paranoid Des Taviner goes suicidal trying to catch a criminal during a car chase.
Cars: 1995 Ford Mondeo, 2001 Ford Focus, Vauxhall Vectra (2001 - Y Reg, 1997 - P Reg).

Hahahaha the way Tony gives mouth to mouth to Reg. He looks like he’s trying to blow up an anorexic balloon. It’s a good job it’s TV land otherwise Reg would’ve been a gonner.
I love the bill but some of these pursuits could have been made a bit more realistic...
For example one minute there all sat in Sun Hill arguing, talking, eating, drinking,
Then the next minute there is a single panda car and a single area car chasing a fail to stop car round a strangely empty industrial estate in the middle of the day,
No one calls for traffic units, dogs or a helicopter, and
Whilst all this is going on the rest of the section are sat at sun hill drinking tea at the station whilst knowing over the radio that there is a local pursuit going on with only 2 units on it.
I know ITV had a budget, but a few more section officers, cars and the odd traffic unit would have made it allot more realistic.
They could of saved money on the unrealistic explosions
i never understood how they both survived that
I don't, the drivers side door was not open so how the hell could Des survive, not to mention the dirvers door would be jamed shut as the only way out would be on the left side of the car and Reggie only managed to get pulled out before the Vectra caught fire so I'm more puzzled how Des survived.

Vauxhall Vectras were a pile of junk and used to cut out unexpectedly. My sister had a P reg one that cut out suddenly on a dark night and it crashed into a ditch.
You know what's funny? The slogan at the time was "Vectra. Take control". Kind of hard to "take control" when the car suddenly stalls leaving you without control. The Omega 2.0 16v had the same problem as well, but you had to be a complete idiot to buy an Omega with a two-litre engine.
P-reg Vauxhall Vectra was 1997 model.

The P-reg Vectra seen in the pursuit sequence was reused as an ARV (and possibly a second Area Car) in later episodes. The Vectra seen smashed up in the explosion is indeed a late 90's model, which can be seen by the rear plastic trim and even different lightbar, though interestingly it seems to have regained the other Vectras Y-plates that can be seen when Dez and Reg first drive off. I believe this one was possibly the 1997 Area Car reused with a plate swap, as that one was originally also a P-reg

The vectra is either actually 1997 yr or 2001 cant b two of it.
It’s confusing. They start with Y721JNP BV and smash P966XHG which has different letters on the roof. And the show Y721JNP getting hit with fire explosions and the car that gets crushed looks like a 1997 vectra. So idk

I think one must have been a stunt vectra (the p plate) and the other the one they wanted to keep (the y plate)
