They released their latest music video REVIVE, yesterday, I recommend viewing that one.
Thanks for checking Nemophila out, hopefully you will delve deeper into this band, so much talent here. Not all their songs are Screamo, they are a very versatile band across many genres.

Actually none of their songs are Screamo. Screamo is a (sub-)genre of music and this is not it. There are many sub-genres of Metal that include extreme vocals but are NOT screamo.

A dream team reunited around singer Mayu (ex-Lipstick) and her school friend Haraguchi-san (bass, ex- Hölderlins). They first found pro drummer Tamu (fusion drummer, involved in many studio and live projects), then met Saki (ex-Destrose, Mary's blood present guitarplayer, one of Japan most revered guitarist) who suggested Hazuki (ex-Disqualia) as second guitar (both are lead and rythm btw, and often harmonize).
At first they were supposed to have fun recording covers and playing Mayu's gigs, but they get along so well that they decided to release original stuff. They already have an international album (basically their first three EPs) with JPU records and their first "real" album is recorded and ready to be released. First single "REVIVE" was released yesterday and it's a killer metal track czcams.com/video/zmRmVc4u18w/video.html .

Nemophila is a 5 petal flower (representing the five members of the band), also called Baby Blue Eyes. It is the flower in their logo. Dissension and their newest song, Revive, have these harsher, cat-like screams. A song like Oiran has less screaming, and of a lower pitch too. They have a live version from 2021 that is pretty high energy. Raitei, Fighter or Sorai are better if you prefer no screaming. The screaming, especially the banshee screams, can be jarring for some. Life, a song dedicated to the drummer after she had returned from maternity leave, is a full on ballad. To see the guitarist stage left really go off you could also try a band called Mary’s Blood and a song called Marionette. You will find that many Japanese artists are in two or more bands.

Something else that may interest you is that Nemophila has two very enjoyable Maximum the Hormone covers. Mayu, the singer, covers two of the MtH singers in the Zetsubou Billy cover and all three singers in the Shimi cover. Yes, she can pull off Nao’s (MtH’s drummer) cute, little anime-style voice too.

They have plenty of songs worth checking out. Their first single RAITEI, OIRAN live at NAON YAON 2021, their new single REVIVE plus they have done a lot of covers (during COVID to keep together) over the last 2 years since they started. Their Maximum the Hormone cover of SHIMI is good. They love their music and enjoy playing together. They also do an X-Japan cover of Kurenai that gives the drummer Tamu Murata a decent work out.

The translation you got is for the word "Nemophilia" (with a second "i"), "Nemophila" (without the second "i", as in the bandname) is the latin name of a blue flower with 5 petals which is also what the band's logo is, the 5 petals representing the 5 band members.

Nemophila is kind of a "super group". They came together from different bands. Saki, lead guitarist playing Killer guitars, also plays in Mary's Blood and does a side project Amahiru with Frederic Leclercq(ex- Dragonforce, Sinsaenum, Kreator). Nemophila create songs in a variety of styles. Try Monsters for a synth-fueled rocker and Life for a tear-jerking ballad. But my very favorite is Oiran, recorded live, up close and personal, in their studio (there is a more recent outdoor COVID concert, i.e., no audience, version from the NAON YAON festival, but you should watch that one second).
In addition, Nemophila have been showing off their versatility by recording a regular series of covers of songs from Western and Japanese bands, including two MAXIMUM THE HORMONE songs. But I recommend Don’t Say Lazy.

Looks like you have been filled in on the details by the others .There more than legit there in the top 5 for japan guitar players and drummer is very well known as well as a sort after session drummer . Saki right as you look(killer guitar) is super star status in japan .There a very versatile band only been playing with each other 2 years but only realy got serious at the start to 2021 .8 song CD came out start of the summer put out by JPU records UK (Nemo are independent) as a western version and went to more than 5 re pressing in a few months it was out making it a best seller for JPU (all the lyrics are in with the cd) .They do some sick covers as well just for fun and to keep videos going up to youtube .New single out now and full album about to drop .They dont do a bad track . Online live Sunday 17th October.

It is worth checking out a few more of their songs. Unfortunately, Revive will probably give you the same vibe, but their other stuff covers a wide range of sounds. I honestly believe Mayu is one the most versatile singers I have ever heard. If you look at their originals and covers you will see she can do screams (of course), to old school rock, to smooth, rich tones. They cover everything from Jpop, to anime openings, to Iron Maiden, to Maximum the Hormone, to X Japan and Luna Sea. Their MtH, X Japan and Luna Sea covers are rarely reacted to due to unfamiliarity with the bands (most focus on the English speaking bands), but are excellent.

You will find for every tone in this song a tone in a song from another Rock band, it just makes no sense to compare.

@@freetobewhoibe on the contrary, i like the comparisons, as bands are influenced by many others, and influence others in turn. It’s fun to note similarities as well as differences (oh these riffs remind me of X band but faster, but the vocals have more of a Y band sound, and the overall subgenre is more like Z)
