Hey Everyone, I started a new series of "Compact Classics" for Fitted Caps, and the main topic of this video is covered in a newer and shorter video here - czcams.com/video/tBoVXv5y3To/video.html - thanks for your viewership!
Thanks man
I noticed we have similar tastes, or at least I think we do - wool, monotone, no side patch, embroidered logo.
Not all heros wear capes! So in-depth for something simple. I dig that. Thank you!
Hey, you are welcome, and thanks for posting, I'm glad I could help!
Nope, some wear hats. 😂
They fo wear caps tho
can you really do anything about the creases on top/back of hat
@@dreinthe616 Where do you get your custom hat embroidery?
I could have saved so many hats that were thrown away because of this ... Thank You !!
Cool - no more throwing away caps... glad I can help! Thanks for the comment
It didnt work for me,for how much time you applied heat?
I RECYCLE most stuff bc there's somebody out there who may use it!
This was a life saver. My hat fell off playing basketball and a student of mine accidentally stepped on it. Left the worst crease line on a limited A-frame from culture kings. Thought it was history but this saved it.
You’re the man. 🤟🏼
That is great to hear, really glad to help out - thanks for the comments!
@loogan grant, YOU are a teacher? Yes, we ARE doomed!
@@mr.blackhawk142 No, I’m not an educator. All love to your negativity though. 🤟🏼
Lifesaver lol
These videos also apply to any style cap that have a “new era fitted/snap-back shape”, and share the same kind of buckram. Which make these videos even 1,000,000 times more valuable.
One hundred percent - great callout to recognize that, thanks Randy!
You’re a life saver dude, thank you for making this video! I stupidly threw in my 1993 Blue Jays Diamond Collection fitted into the washing machine with cold water and it came out creased and had lost a bit of its shape, but luckily through steaming it and shaping it with a cloth I was able to bring it back to life thanks to your video! Cheers my man 🍻
That is great to hear, really glad that I could help out!
great vid. For the amount of people wearing new era caps, there is a surprisingly small amount of content when it comes to maintaining and fixing them.
Thanks for the comment - I definitely try to specialize in editing/maintaining fitted caps with this and many other videos, so I appreciate the recognition!
@Tranny lol, Yes, I just bought 7 different stretch caps, a red Blackhawks, Red Wings, Colts (white with blue horseshoe), LA Kings (purple classic), Bears, Vikings, Chargers, (Powder Blue with yellow bolt). I still have my black FITTED Blackhawks cap from decades ago. I sprayed some FABRIC STIFFENER on it way back then. I want to STIFFEN all of my caps bc they get dents, and creases in them. That's what brought me here.
Wow .
Thanks so much .
I have several caps damaged in storage .
You saved me a lot of money for replacement .
Protect this man at all costs
Fixed my grandpas volcom hat from 1990. Thank you so much❤️
THANKS SO MUCH THIS SAVED MY HAT!!! Had an event today and haven’t wore my LA hat in months had so many dents and this shit helps and made my hat like new !!! THANKS
Just tried the dent technique, and it worked. Thanks, Doug!
Right on, good to hear!
jesus, thank you so much 💜 you're very professional!
Bro..... I just randomly decided to see if I could fix THEEEE dopest hat ever... and u showed up!! Thanks broski.
That Sabres hat behind him is dope af! Hockey is my least watched sport, but NHL gear is my favorite! Partially because Zephyr used to make some NHL hats, and I much preferred Zephyr to New Era. The hat I want to restore the most is a fitted Zephyr Quebec Nordiques hat in royal blue.
I forgot one of my favorite hats from a golf club in a hotel and they shipped it to me in an envelope. It arrived very bent and creased. Using your method is nearly brand new. Thank you!
That’s great, glad I could help out!
THANK YOU! This technique worked great getting the dents out of the hats I had previously heat pressed a patch onto.
You're welcome - that is great to hear!
Nice. Thanks Doug, well done. If your like me and sometimes read the comments too often. I just wanted to reiterate when your doing any of these techniques, on this video or others, to always start low and slow. And work your heat up gradually. I purchased a unique hat one size up from mine and tried shrinking it. I got it to shrink, but with the excessive heat and moisture, the buckram got warped and now I'm here, finding great methods to fix it in a step that was totally avoidable. Like most hats, the buckram has one of the main features of the cap. I even said to myself to not be so aggressive, but temptation got the better of me. So hopefully this can be a cautionary tale. Thanks again for the killer vids!
Hey Steve, thanks. I'm pretty sure I've made a similar disclaimer in many videos where I use either heat or steam, but there's a chance some of the commentary might have gotten clipped for time in this one. Especially since I skipped a chunk of the hairdryer exposure... once you feel the heat on your fingers on the outside, time to turn it off and start shaping! Thanks for your support.
Thanks a lot for the video, had a girl hop in my backseat this past weekend where I had my White Sox City Connect 39thirty laying on the seat and she ended up giving it a few good creases. I was heartbroken honestly since it’s my favorite hat and impossible to find now so I thought all hope was lost. Looking forward to giving this a try to bring it back to life. You’re the man.
Thank you, it is tough to think about losing a hat you can’t replace… so I hope your restoration is successful!
Thanks for the great video. Sent it to all my buddies have the new era ball caps.
Man, you're a life saver. Thanks for this video! ❤️✨
Really cool, glad I could help!
The techniques worked great on my Richardson mesh back hat thanks for sharing this!
Cool, that's great to hear!
Thanks for the video. My son just got me a beautiful 59Fifty 1939 Cincinnati Reds cap. Now I'll know how to fix creases and dents in it if and when they occur.
Cool, I guess you're thinking ahead, but hopefully never have to apply the technique... thanks
I'm going to be fixing my caps this week. Thank you so much my hat wearing amigo.
You are welcome, glad to help out!
Easy and simple. Worked well and my favourite hat looks good as new.
Cool, glad to hear it!
The video I needed 💪💪💪💪
Thank you, my friend! The blow dryer method worked for me.
Right on, that's great to hear - you are most welcome!
you helped me revive and save about ten of my hats. i used the tea kettle which i find to be a better method and i was also able to lift the crown so its not so flat. thank you! my hats are much more wearable
That is awesome, the kind of stuff I love to hear... thanks for posting and enjoy those caps!
Thanks for keeping me fresh OG
Thank you so much for this video! The hairdryer trick is a life saver!
Right on, you are welcome!
Thank you so much you saved three of my favorite hats
Great to hear, glad I could help!
Very good job Bro! Thank you for this info, my distributor had a situation with shipping so you made a lot of people happy! Stay great my friend
Thanks, glad I could help out!
That video was so professional 👏🏻
just got a squished box in from ups/usps (ups mail innovations) with a last in stock cap and this just saved me from pulling my hair out. my cap looks new and crisp. many thanks..
You are welcome, glad that I could help recover that cap!
two of my hats from an order arrived crushed, fixed the crown immediately with this tutorial, many thanks!
Glad to help out, especially when poor shipping is the cause!
This is very helpful thank you for helping me on my journey as i repair my cap on my home
You are welcome, glad to help!
I wear snapbacks but I bought a very nice yankee hat that has the Statue of Liberty in the front next to the NY and then a Big Apple next to the SnapBack but when I bought it I told the owner of the store that the hat had crease on the bottom left side and he gave me a discount I ended up getting the hat for 38$ which was 45 , still a lot for a new era 9Fifty but I love the hat but this definitely helped me fix my hat I appreciate your videos you got a new sub!
Thanks man, glad I could help out!
I'm glad I found this video. Some idiot shipped my new Warriors 2022 NBA Finals hat in a plastic package instead of a box which had my hat all crumpled up and the bill all crooked. I was so mad.
The hair dryer worked wonders though with the creases and dents. The bill isn't perfect but it looks straighter than when it arrived.
Cool, glad I could help save that cap!
Those were some tough creases thanks for the content 👍🏾
Sure thing, thank you
This video helped a lot I bought a palm angels hat from Saks fifth the other day and I got drunk af and woke up laying on it ima use your method to take the creases out
Just bought a hat through the mail, and the packaging it was in was very poor (a thick bag) and created 2 creases where the front label is. I will try these techniques. Thanks!
You are welcome, hope it helps!
To much negativity, this gentleman brought my creases in my first edition Yankee On Field First Year of the new stadium back to New. Thanks Champ 🏆 🤝
hat collection 🔥
This Video is pure Gold
Thank you very much! Its really help to fix my hat. Looks like new!
That's what I like to hear, I'm glad it helped out - thanks!
best video i've seen on this topic
Thanks! I have a trucker/baseball cap and it got all creased and messed up. Great vid thank you!
Sure thing... I'm glad to hear it worked well for a slightly different type of cap too.
Very very very simple sir . Appreciate man 🆙🔥🔥🔥

Amazing Doug- always appreciate your techniques as well as your diligence to do the job right.

Congrats!! Thanks for sharing!!
Right on, I am happy to help - thanks!
Thank you for creating this video. I’ve used towels for a long time too. Never thought to try the hair dryer or the stovetop steam. Very cool 😎
Hey, thank you Doug - glad you could appreciate the techniques!
Thank you for this. I used steam from my teapot and worked!
You are welcome, glad to hear it.
Thank you so much on these doug. You save my Angels Cap hehe
My mom sat in my favorite cap and if it was not for this video my cap would of probably been thrown or kept in a dark dusty box thank you 1 million brother
can't wait to try this
Saved a bunch of hat's life today. Thank you sir they thank you lol
Outstanding, good to hear it!
Wow that worked great thanks!!
Thank you very much for this video, it was helpful. I just ordered one baseball cap through Amazon a few weeks ago and I was afraid that it might come poorly packed and it was, in a narrow box so that it was bent more on one side and less on the other. It seems to me that I straightened it well with the hair dryer now. :)
Cool, you are welcome, glad I could help!
thanks so much! my fave hat for the school that I attend got dented! This is great! thanks!!
Right on, glad to help out!
We need a review on the new WS Fitted they seem to have tons of defects and no year on the patch, it’ll be nice to see you do reviews on post season hats or some info on that kind of thing I think as a sub little post season review on caps wouldn’t be so bad! Thanks for content!
Cool, thanks man - I have not picked any of those up this year, but I did notice the really strange omission of 2021 on those patches this time. It was a down year for collections like that too - no Players Weekend caps, and there were only 6 or 7 City Connect caps after a lot of fanfare.
Thanks for the high quality video man !! I tried the ironing method some days ago with a crease that i had in my cap, improving the visual aspect of it but in terms of texture the cap stayed a bit rough in the place that I did the ironing, I realized that with the heat the inside of the panel remained with air forming some sort of balloon as if the white fabric had come unstock. I don't know if I did something wrong but that problem is stopping me of restoring more caps, if you know how I could solve or prevent that please tell me about it 🙏🏼
Thanks for the info
Very informative and helpful thankyou
Thanks a ton ! This is an amazing hack
Thank you for this
Thank you so much man! great tutorial!
Glad to help out, thank you!
Interesting, cheers man.
As always amazing insights on the care of the fitted cap. Quick question Doug. Would you have any insight or suggestions on how to get back the elasticity on the 39Thirty flexfit caps, especially on the sides which seem to bevel out? Lastly, on the regular 59Fifty caps, any recommendations on how to get the top button to lay flat? I find on most new caps it kind of points up to the back, even after a long time wearing them the button doesn't seem to ever "break in" and come down. Thanks as always for your feedback and time.
I think that 39Thirty issue is one related to durability (or "dry rot" in the elastic) and I'm not sure of any way to recover it. The button issue is one I've experienced, and the only thing I can think of is to 'spot steam' the buckram lined panels up where they terminate near the button, and try to bend them down. Probably not going to fold the whole button down, though. Thanks!
You just saved my dodgers hat thank you . I recently just bought it and had it hanging on my hat hangers in front of the bathroom door . Me and my wife got into a dumb argument so I kinda slammed the door not think and it put huge creases because it got stuck in-between the door and door frame . I tried all the techniques in this video ultimately it had to use the iron and that finally did the trick. The other techniques would be good for minor stuff but if it's bad then iron is the way to go. I was so nervous ironing it but everything turned out ok . Anyway thank you for the info and the video . I would have hated to throw a brand new hat away
You are welcome, happy to hear you saved that cap!
3:51 to the good part
Thank you!
Watching it cause the last hat me daddy gifted me before he passed away got dented, thank you
You are welcome, happy to help.
Thanks for the info!
I’m watching this bc my dad gave me a expensive hat and I accidentally creased it

I just got my grail and USPS box was damaged so my hat got a wrinkle , thanks for this video
Arghhh, shipping damage is the worst... glad I could help - thanks!
thank you mioster man for helping me. my caps was bent on myh caps so you help me insteaf of me friend
Cool, glad this video was able to help you, thanks.
I really like the recommendation of the soccer skills ball. That's perfect. Quick question, my puppy chewed off the buttons of two of my really nice new era caps. What do I do about that? I saw that you can get buttons on Amazon but is there someplace I can just go to replace them real quick, like Lids or something?
Tigers cap is definitely a 59Fifty. This repair relies on the buckram up front, so the Dodgers 39Thirty where I removed the dent operates on the same principle of smoothing/reforming the buckram.
Thank you sir❤️
Thanks 😄
Do you have any suggestions or a video on if there is a slight crack in the brim/bill .. I try steaming but it won’t come out. It naturally happened as I was making the curve .. not sure if it happened due to the stitching being off on the hat .. Never happened before
Great video. I will say that time heals all wounds I've had some hats that I thought were unrepairable but I just wore them and they gradually came back into shape. Obviously, I would recommend your method but just thought I'd mention it. Do you recommend a blow dryer over a steamer?
For just forming the two buckram panels up front, hair dryer is sufficient... but in any other case of shaping or editing caps, I recommend steaming because it relaxes the fabric too, thanks.
Really nice video and I can save all my hat, thank you
Sure thing, glad I could help!
Hey good video! What size is the football?
awesome sir ! your the best !
Thank you, happy to help!
I love your hat🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, man - appreciate it!
Wow thanks works 💯
Thank you so much
Ty if I knew this wouldn’t had thrown out so many hats if I knew this ty
Sure thing, once I saved a couple with this I decided to share, so I'm glad to hear you will be able to rehab some caps!
How do you get rid of the circular dents in the back of the hat ??
gr8 video. nice mariners hat too
Cool, thank you
Thank you so much I'm assuming this works for various hats ? Even snap backs that aren't new era ?
Correct - does not have to be New Era, but it does need the stiff buckram under the front two panels... that's what can be re-shaped to eliminate the wrinkles and creases, thank you.
Buen dato, gracias! 🧢🙂
