@@ChoppaWhoppa1 If you have a vintage AC30 it may well feature alnico speakers (blue and/or silver)You might try running the new AC through the old/broken in speakers.That may be a big chunk of the difference.If it satifies you a speaker swap may remedy the situation.
@@bootlegapples That would probably made a huge difference, I've sold it now though. I also think the rectifier tube in the vintage ones was an important feature for achieving that classic sag when pushed hard. The C2 just never got into that tonal area at all. Not a bad sounding amp, but not what I was looking for at the time.

This amp comes alive when you swap the stock speaker to an alnico speaker. Love this thing to bits

When I tried this amp, it sounded harsh compared to an AC30.
I loved my vintage AC30, regret I sold it, some thirty years ago. Recently bought an AC30 C2 and it's just nowhere near the old one.
They're very different amps,in numerous ways.

Sounds like ish. Make real AC30's or don't make them at all, Vox.
It's a real Vox...I have had a few Vox amps and this is the best one I have played. (I have nevered owned HW for the record)
