    I just started shooting weddings and recently had my first wedding. I used the Tamron 35-150mm for the whole day on my A7iv and all I can say is what an amazing lens it is! I do plan on getting a wide angle, then collecting the sony GM primes once I get more weddings booked in next year. But for now I can shoot a whole wedding on that one lens and get amazing results!

    After a LOT of research I’d also suggest the Sony 20 1.8, Sony 35 1.4, Sony 85mm 1.8 and the Tamron 70-180 f2.8 G2; the Tamron is a fantastic lightweight zoom, very similar in terms of picture quality to the GM II and it can shoot near macro level photos. Best part about this setup is that it’s lightweight and they all have a 67mm filter treads so you can share filters across all lenses. You’re welcome 😊

    Nice selection of lenses and agree totally about the Tamron 35-150 which is a great all rounder if you want a one lens and go. Since getting my A7rv I have exploited the apsc mode which still gives you a high res picture. Yes you can crop in post but it's meant I can dual purpose primes as well. My wedding kit of primes is the 24mm gm f1.4 and the Sigma 50mm f1.4. Switching between normal and apsc mode I can make the 24mm work almost as a 35mm and the 50mm almost as a 75mm. Much of the time the combination of switching between 24mm and 35mm covers a lot of bases particularly in the getting ready photos etc. I also use a Samyang 135mm f1.8 which is fantastic value for the money and I try to make use of that when I can just for the look it gives.

    Nice, i run a similar setup, 20 1.8, 35-150, and a prime that i feel like using for the day e.g. 50 1.4, 85 1.8 or 135 1.8
    Have you thought about using macro tubes on the 85?

    Love the setup, and the fact that you don't simoly have all the most expensive stuff, but for example the 85mm 1.8 ❤
    As a videomaker I am always looking for cheap but very good lens, in this period a wide one, cool that sony start making mid range lens with good starting price like the new 16-25mm

    @TaylorJacksonPhoto Having everything in one bag is crucial for me in the next year. I was strugling with tons of equipment as a wedding filmmaker and it was very hard to maintain everything solo. However how do you deal with conditions where you do not have white ceilings or flat white surface, wall etc. to bounce the light off? Do you bounce it off anyways? Dancefloors etc.

    Hi Taylor, you’ve probably been asked this a billion times but I can’t find it in any other comments. I have the option of buying the A7IV or the A7RV. Which do you think is best for weddings and general street photography if budget isn’t a concern. How much better is the autofocus compared? Thanks

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It’s a bump in af according the specs, but the a74 is really good. I can’t really tell the difference between the two af systems at a wedding

      I went with A7r5 !! better viewfinder you will spnd most of the day looking through it , bigger better resolution screen , 26mp in crop mode , better ai focusing and 8 stop ibis plus better resale value too. So yeah get a7r5 and you will love the 61mp details for when you pixel peep or crop in post production 📸👍
