    My grandmother lived in Lancaster for a time. Her father worked at Edwards AFB. If I remember correctly, she lived near 90th St E and Lancaster Blvd. Must’ve been quiet back then. Glad to see the town get some love, even if I’ve never been.

    There's a crazy history to a bike path along the California Aqueduct. In its day, it was the longest continuous bike path in the world.

    • @djpetesake
      @djpetesake  Před 7 měsíci +4

      So... they closed it because people kept falling in the water and dying? Or because they were afraid of bicycle riding terrorists sabotaging the aqueduct?

    I'm not a fan of the fact that there's basically nothing in Lancaster, CA. It seems like all the fun places are around downtown LA, and the farther you go with Metrolink, the more boring it gets. Plus, it takes too long to reach San Francisco or San Diego.

    • @GamingConductor
      @GamingConductor Před 2 dny

      Yeah, I live in Lancaster and it's mostly a desert with houses and the stuff u need built on it. It is not a place for tourism. Not a place many want to or should go to.

      @@GamingConductor I don't even know why Metrolink goes to Lancaster instead of Torrance or Huntington Beach.

      @@CancelCZcams026 we have a lot of people out here who work in the LA area so it helps people who have a low income. There are actually a lot of people who use it too (during the week at least), not just for jobs but for other things so it's actually useful and helps get more cars off the roads.

    many towns have recently put a bunch of semi-useless bike infrastructure in the middle of nowhere as that is where it is cheapest to place it. I think there is a fed/state incentive for increasing bike lane mileage that came about recently so this is and things like it are probably capitalizing on that

    • @djpetesake
      @djpetesake  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I actually am working on some baskets, but instead of spot welding the whole thing, I trash picked some basket panels from some storage shelving which can be easily welded together regularly since the frames are thick enough.

    I live in Palmdale. PLEASE don't tell people to come up here to ride their bikes. People up here DO NOT follow basic traffic ettiequte.
    I've almost gotten run over a handful of times while crossing the street, once I actually got hit on a residential 'cause the idiot driver thought I was gonna stop for him! Many don't even bother slowing down for cross walk lights/guards.
    Love what you're doing, love that you're promoting the MTA, walking, biking etc., but some places aren't meant to be explored on foot. The A.V. is one of them. Not to mention the stupid ass city planning with 99% of streets here leading to dead ends, forcing you to drive/walk in circles.
    I live on and off between the A.V. and L.A. and I always walk in L.A., but in the A.V., nope! I no longer bother jogging outside anymore after I got hit.
