I bought the course and it is A+. There is NO way I would have figured out all the correct settings! Worth every $$$ if you really want to understand how to do video on the super Sony a1. I really like the short lessons explaining what each setting does and then CLEARLY showing me the steps to do them in the menu step by step with video and slow enough that I can follow along. BIG +
Excellent and very comprehensive guide, Just one thing in the section UNDERSTANDING AUTOFOCUS PERFORMANCE did you save the baby turtle? 😥 The setting up MF/AF assigned to a button and lens is brilliant also with macro photography, I was lucky enough to have spent a week on the Isle of Mull in Scotland with Gorgon Buchanan a BBC wildlife camera man and presenter who also told me that all his filming is done in manual focus predominately using the RED cameras.
Hi Mark! Your A1 photo guide helped me tremendously. I am glad that I watched your guide before I made the trip to Costa Rica. Taking video has been something on my mind since day one and I have been waiting for your course. I will definitely take the course. Can I ask you what hardware (ball head/tripod) for video taping you use? I have a gimbal for still pictures and I assume I need to get something else for video?
I watched this online class. I have to admit that there was so much of Sony A1 video shooting or video shooting in general I didn’t know before I went through your online course. Thank you for putting this wonderful course together! One question, I transferred my practice video clips from the camera. What app do you use to play/edit video clips? I wasn’t able to play on QuickTime at all.
Mark thanks for putting this together. Looking forward to picking it up and diving into it. Does it have video editing tips as well. I am FCP user who is new to video editing and would love a guide that teaches me video editing especially for wildlife and nature videos. If you put one together I would love to pick up that tutorial.
Mark, since I am not a Sony A1 user, I will not be taking the online course. I am sure you will be getting lots of order for the course, since your photos and videos using the A1 are amazing.
Awesome! Any chance it goes over the processing of the footage after the capture with recommendations on a LUT/color grading/and other processes and techniques?
@@MarkSmithphotography Thanks! Good to know. I'm just starting to delve into video with my Sony a1, so I don't know what I quite need to know yet. It's definitely a bit of a different beast than photographing and processing photos for wildlife. I do know I really enjoy your videos, and find the colors and transitions you do to be pretty amazing. I guess as I get more knowledge, I'll chime in again to note what I'm still hoping to improve.
Yes very much so but the two cameras have some differences. A74 has eye auto focus for video a1 does not. A1 has more video resolution choices and more frames rates but most of the other functions are the same.
Hi Mark, I am a NEW sub.. WOW!!! Your work is amazing...I am going to purchase your A1 video workshop. It is a link that will allow me to watch it on. my iPad or computer?? If we have questions are we able to connect with you/ Thank you !
Hi Mark, My wife ordered this course for me as a gift and when I accessed my account it shows that it is purchased. But when I go to access the course using the link it either does not show or says please go back and complete the previous lesson. Can you please help?
Never mind... I just realized I had to click the Mark complete on the cheat sheet to be able to advance to the next lesson. Or at least thats what I think it was. Enjoying the first few videos now. Thanks

Sure
Late in the game since this video announcement was 8 months ago, but I just ordered the course can cannot wait to dive in! Come on, let's go!
Enjoy
Brilliant, I'm on it and cannot wait to try it out ;-)

I prefer to handhold but I suggest a good fluid panning head for video.
Hi Mark, that’s amazing! I know it will be a success.
Thanks

How long will the sale run? I definitely want this, but don’t have the A1 yet. I know it will be excellent just like your other guides!
I’ll keep on sale for a while.

I’m not a Fcp user. This doesn’t cover post processing.

Thank you!
You are one smart dude! 🤙🏽
Sometimes and thanks
Your work is amazing. Unfortunately I’m using R5, will the guide on a1 will be any beneficial for a r5 users?
I don’t think so.
@@MarkSmithphotography thank you, Mark
Hi Mark, I have an A1 but have never done any video ever. Is your course suitable for a complete novice? Also does it cover software?
It designed to help anyone and everyone from the novice to a pro. This doesn’t cover any post processing. That will be a supplemental video.
Awesome! Any chance it goes over the processing of the footage after the capture with recommendations on a LUT/color grading/and other processes and techniques?
Not in this one. This is strictly camera function and technique. I’m thinking a second course for post processing. What would you like to see in that?

If you did create a another course on post processing which software would you focus on?
@@alexands1 the only one I know. Premiere
Do I have to be online to watch these videos or can I watch them offline saved on my tablet or laptop on a flight or subway commute to work.
No, you would have to be online.
good stuff Mark.
Thanks
Mark, will this be applicable to Sony A7 IV instead of Sony A1?
Yes very much so but the two cameras have some differences. A74 has eye auto focus for video a1 does not. A1 has more video resolution choices and more frames rates but most of the other functions are the same.
Hei, is it possible to translate into other languages?
Good question. I’m not too sure because it is all video content.
@@MarkSmithphotography Ok, is this a video with examples of settings on the camera?
@@FotomafiaSuomi yes and much much more
@@MarkSmithphotography Thank you, I buy on Monday I will pay
Any special pricing for non US folks where dollar is 70 times costlier than local currency ?
I’m not sure how to do that.
I don't see any previews available. You sure you've enabled these?
