- I met this beautiful artist, Alice Herbst, in Stockholm, Sweden this winter.
She was one of the girls who tried to find herself as a teenager. I am sure we all do, did, and done.
She plays and creates many different personas for her painting and recreates the characters by painting on canvas.
I also always find it hard to define myself as one person or personality; I embraced her perspective and point of view this time and was greatly inspired by her story.
If there is someone to try to find your soul and combine it with one, you might get some idea through her story.
I hope this interview will help you to find the answer for yourself.

Interesting story, and a very unusual multimedia approach to creating references, including using random 2D ephemerae as Easter eggs in different ways from one piece to the next. Ms. Herbst' series "The Whisper Game" reminds me a bit of the concept from Normal Rockwell's "Chain of Gossip" painting. It's also cool that after a bad experience in the modelling profession, that as her own model and as the artist, Ms. Herbst now controls what her image is used to say.

I cried everyday on the way to and from modeling school. I quit the day we were going to start working. It was eating me alive and I knew it wasn't a healthy life. Most of the girls in school were suffering from eating disorders and deep depression. It was horrible. It took me a long time to see beauty in imperfections, but I really like who I am today, as an artist, and a free thinker. Great work in many ways, bravo!

It's fascinating to see similar games across different cultures! In Korea, we play a game called “고요속의 외침(screaming in the silence)," while players wear headphones, listen to loud music, and attempt to guess the word someone else is saying! It seems like the game reflects the passionate nature of Koreans😆😆

we have something in common. I am also Aries and I wanted to be a Model when I was 16 years of age but I was to smal . And since a couple of years I startet to paint selftaught with watercolor. Love it very much.

An extremely talented painter with a unique vision. So, why does this video seem like a struggle between a pointless fashion magazine shoot and a respectful look at her work? She's beautiful and has a sense of style. So what? It should be about one thing -- her work, not her beauty. Shame on somebody.

It's true that her talent and unique vision should be the central focus. However, I also believe that understanding an artist's personal life can provide valuable insights into their work. It's a delicate balance, and I hope future presentations can find a harmonious way to showcase both the other's artistic prowess and the meaningful aspects of their life. Everyone's input contributes to a richer appreciation of our journey 🥰
An artist’s work may look like it’s about other things, but it’s always about themself. It’s their unique mind and personality interacting between their inner world and outer world, and then synthesizing and describing (through their art) the contact points. This artist is working through her inner feelings about who she is and her place in the world, which the outer world wants to define solely by physical beauty. No human being can possibly live up to the world’s ideals. She struggles to redefine herself according to her own ideals. Maybe in 20 years her work will look entirely different, but right now the tension between what the world wants her to be and what she is actually becoming has everything to do with beauty-real and perceived. The video rather perfectly encapsulates that struggle.
Why separate the art from the artist? Who she is, with every aspect of who she is, influences her art. I love videos like these because they don't just focus on the art, but they also focus on the artist. I found it a very beautifully shot and respectful honoring video.
Often times i feel knowing about the artist adds volume to their work, making it more complex.
art cannot and should never be separated from the artist. the creation is inherently tied to its creators, so it makes perfect sense to delve into not only the art, but also the artist themselves.
