Finally broke down and got a retro Gung Ho figure. Don’t know why I waited so long, he was one of my favorites from the original line. My parents got him for me as an Easter gift the year he came out. They had never given gifts for Easter before and I was beyond surprised to find him sitting in my basket Easter morning. He was an awesome, tough and sturdy figure. Just like the character himself.
omg!! i want destro because walmart has him for like $14 but they also have shadow tracker for $17..lol..i am gonna drive myself nuts. great review as always.
I wasn't much into GIJOE as a child, but when I first saw Destro and Cobra Commander figures? Captivated.
I opened mine and I love the retro look of these. Can’t wait to get storm shadow and zartan!
These retros Joe’s look awesome. I sold my classified line but these brought me back as it hits nostalgia more. I’m keeping them on card for now but shipping is terrible from Walmart. I order 4 of each of the first 4 figs and only got about 5 decent cards.
That all being said, these retro card back figures look dope!

That’s not the traditional “Ball & Bird” USMC crest. Hasbro can’t use that any longer because it’s copyrighted by the USMC. On another note, Gung Ho comes with a grenade launcher, not a shotgun. Which explains the grenades on his thigh.
I'm going loose since they're decent sizes to match with what i'm doing.
I just grabbed Walmart cardback gung-ho on clearance for $12 ……to be honest I like the new one over the goofy 80s cartoon colors that no real army fatigues would ever be colored 🤷🏻
Got my Destro and GH in a box. hoping I was a lucky one. I was not. Both cards beat up. I am ultimately an opener though so I guess it doesn't matter.
I got two Gung-Hos in a box; one was fine, the other was smushed. So it seems these things are getting damaged on the way to distribution centers. I'm guessing pallets of Joes got a pallet of trailer hitches or something stacked on top and the rest is history. Also, "jungle" is mis-spelled on his card 😆

I purchased Destro, Baroness, and Gung Ho, all at different times, and they all came in boxes with mint cards. I don't understand why some are being shipped in boxes and others the bubble envelopes.

Loving those Joe's. But it worries me when they get shipped from Walmart. They're the worse. There customer service is a pain to deal with. That means I might have to go to Walmart, which their toy aisle is a mess

Gung Ho does not have his classic Marine Corps emblem tattoo on his chest (Eagle, Globe, and Anchor). His cover, (not hat) is actually correct as a Marine 8 point cover, however, it also does not have the EGA on it. The first one came with a Army hat. Blasphemy!

Gung-Ho is my #1 Joe of all time and they nailed him, here. Lucked out and ordered two and Walmart shipped them in an actual box with padding. I feel for everyone who is getting them in envelopes, but, yeah, Hasbro is NOT helping the situation with how thin these card backs are. Just pathetic. Awesome figure though (minus the real USMC tat, wtf?)
