Tim ,I think you do a fair and great job reviewing and putting out your opinion, Like i said before 98% of owners getting into a sub compact tractor genre will be very happy with either choice, I have a b Series and do not have a problem with the comparisons being made here, I think people need to relax a bit and take the info in and do it what they will. No one is dealing in absolutes here. keep up the good work on the videos, I'll be watching
Lets let the JD v/s the Kubota do the talking...man seems that other youtubers would respect what you're doing..I'm enjoying the series buddy
Stoney Ridge Farmer I’m enjoying the series too. I also like ur new jeep
Stoney ridge farmer hi
I think the operator station deserves an episode of its own. It’s where you’re going to spend all your time using the machine, it’s worth pointing out in detail how they differ.
Hi Tim and Christy!
I'm a retired mechanic and love my Kubota compact tractor. My wife's cousin is a retired heavy equipment operator and he loves his John Deere compact tractor. I think they're both great machines.
I really appreciate your even handed review, and look forward to your videos. God bless you!
I've got about 70 hours on my 1025R and i've gotten more satisfaction with my purchase than anything I've ever bought in my 56 years on this earth, absolutely love the machine and love learning more about what it can do. Thanks for the vids Tim.
Leave Tim alone. He does an excellent job on his channel. Don't like his content start your own CZcams Channel!
I would definitely say that if someone doesn't like his content they need to leave and go somewhere else because honestly he's doing great work by showing people the advantages and the shortcomings of each tractor in real world performance.
Hey Tim, I don’t know you personally, but I find you to be very honest and up front in your videos. I knew you would receive some harsh comments when you started this comparison, brand loyalty runs thick whether it’s tractors or trucks. I constantly tell people “it’s your money, buy what you want”. Everyone has opinions, whether it’s friends or a husband and wife, disagreements will surface, they should take a deep breath and be an adult, don’t sweat the small stuff.
Tim, I'm a bx 2380 owner next door in Ohio. Bought it with no research whatsoever. I love the tractor (who doesn't?) but sometimes I wish the FEL would lift more. I'm quite sure Johnny beats Kubota hands down there. Anyway, love your videos and please don't be discouraged by tackling this comparison. I'm learning SO much from your videos. If I had one learning moment so far it would be I had no idea the 1025r was that much bigger and I'm happy I have the more compact Kubota for my 3 acres. By the way, you helped me pick out my new trailer and I thank you very much for your insight. Keep up the "good works". - Sam
I don’t understand why people have to get into a twist when their favorite tractor is compared with another, everyone is untitled to their opinion, all these sub compact tractors have great quality’s, what sets them apart are some of the features on them, personally I think Tim did a nice job, keep up the good work.
Great video Tim ! I'm really enjoying your honest, thorough, head to head comparison of these 2 tractors.
Tractor Time with Tim is the content creator who is the most connected with his audience. Truly reads every comment, responds to many, and puts hours into filming and editing a very informative video in response to audience feedback. Awesome.
Tim, your clips are highly enjoyable, informative and flat-out honest! Keep ‘em coming! Thank you 🙏
I think your doing an amazing job reviewing these two machines. So far and by far the most objective review I’ve seen
So far, this is THE best review I have seen. Real world use review. There is no need to get into that Ford vs Chevy type argument. Spot and thanks for taking the time to do such an in depth and informative review!
Next up, B series vs 2-series
Thanks for addressing the issues and more importantly thanks for being fair!! Thanks to you and Neil, I bought a BX2380 last year. Love this series!
Tim was watching the video today of you riding with your dad combining corn. So blessed to still have your dad. My dad was still bush hogging his fields about two months before he passed away at 93.
Sorry to hear, Larry. Glad he was healthy enough to get out almost up to the end of his time here on earth.
BX2380 owner from new. The noise at startup and shut down is normal. I believe it is the pump.
Thank you for the tip on the sway bars the cotter pin will get replaced this weekend. It is a PÍA when removing or installing attachments.
I believe the height adj knob for mower deck should only spin in one direction. If it spins both ways it may have been “abused” before you received it.
I think you’re doing a great job at being neutral in your review. Some people are going to have their buts hurt no matter what you say.
I do wish the BX had “position control” for the 3-point. Being able to go back to the same height would make life easier.
Let’s face it we all spent a fair chunk of change on whatever color tractor we own so we want it to be the best otherwise we feel stupid for having purchased an inferior product. Keep up the good work.
I love learning from you because it means I didn’t have to break it or spend hours trying to figure something out or repair it myself
Thanks for your comment.
@@TractorTimewithTim it's not a normal start/stop noise on my BX25, but it does sound like the hydraulic pump when it is maxxed out lifting the loader or attachments.
Darn right man this is quality information and stuff that needs to be considered before you make a purchase and he has the ability to provide it in real world scenarios
I have been waiting for someone finally doing a real fair review on the jd1025r and bx2680. Keep up the good work. Love the channel tim
Tim, as a Kubota owner I'm really enjoying your comparisons between these two tractors. I own an L3901 but I used to have a B series so I don't know much about the BX series. This is the most honest, objective comparison I've seen on youtube of anything. Keep up the great work.
Can't wait for series 2 and I also watch good works tractor, you both do a great job providing information
I laughed for the entire length of the video! Great comparison with a different approach! Keep up the good work!
Entertaining series so far, Tim. Thanks for taking the risk and wading into the color war. I have a Kubota BX 23S that I bought after watching your channel for about a year, but I could have gone either way...I almost bought a 1025R, but like others have said, it came down to the dealer. They're both fine tractors. Once or twice I've wished it had a little more lift capacity, but TBH, I bought it knowing that it had a little less lift, and that I would only use to move dirt or rock on few occasions. I'm just glad I'm not having to do all this work around my property with a shovel and wheel barrow anymore!
Great job! You seem to have spent a great deal of time and thought on your comparison review approach! One area, or function of these two tractors at a time !! Looking forward for part two!
I loved the video and I am glad you showed the position control so people know what it is. My 25, 30, and 50 HP tractors that I have and still own a 50 HP have all had that position control. It is an awesome feature to have.
Awesome follow-up. I feel like your review was ridiculously honest....unlike a certain other channel I follow who loves the orange tractor. :)
The sound is normal.
I agree with gizzard3020's comment. I own a 1025r and love it. I purchased the Deere for these simple reasons. At the time it was priced better than the Kubota was. It offered more features for the price and finally I was more impressed with the Deeres drive over mower deck technology. I have no doubt the kubota is a great little tractor too but the fact that it has a metal hood was not a huge selling point for me. I wanted the most bang for my buck in a small tractor and thats what the Deere offered. Love the channel keep up the good work. Cant wait to see the final results.:-)
Great video love the bx vs 1 series
I had to do the same thing to my deck lift adjuster. I am glad you covered this, as I thought I was doing something wrong. Cheers
that bx be great for my town sidewalks plowing
Lol! I think Neil from Messicks is just joshin’ ya. Good channel Tim! 🤠
What matters to me as a 72, retired master technician with BMW and M-Benz is reliability , Ergonomics and serviceability. Like hydraulic drains and filters, grease fittings, longevity.
Excellent presentation Tim. Clear, factual, mature, intelligent.

Tim, you could never make a living as a car salesman because of how straight forward and honest you are. Tim Marks in 2020 ?? HaHa . The main thing people should take away from this video series is that they each have pros and cons to them so whether it's a blue ,green, red or orange compact tractor just get one, sit on it and have fun with any chore. Keep up the great work.
I love this followup. I appreciate you being able to articulate your replies to people with out being rude. Thanks for these videos.
Tim you're doing a great job with the reviews and comparison.
Hi Tim and family. I started watching your videos when the COVID-19 started. I have been watching your videos ever day. I have a 1025R and a 3520 with a cab and enjoy both of them greatly. My thoughts are with you when you lost your dad. Those old farmers are a great bunch of honest hard working people. I married a farm girl and love the farm as I got thrown in to being a teacher and taking care of the farm since my father-in-law died in the middle of August just before apple harvest. Your dad reminded me of my farther-in-law as an easygoing farmer. Also my mother was a Marks also. I have also ordered from Heavy Hitch. I have lived on the farm for 54 years and I still learn from your videos. Thanks Jim W
Thanks for the comment, Jim!
Thanks for doing this Tim & Family. I'm in the market for a sub compact, and these two are my top choices. So your opinion is going to be really valuable to me! Thanks again, and keep up the great work!!!!
Thanks, i find your review and overview of these products enlightening and fair, your approach and honesty is quite refreshing. You have a new follower i'll continue to watch, learn and enjoy. Cheers
Welcome to our channel!!
Tim - Thanks for the videos. I happen to own a JD 1025R and really like it, but I really like Kubota products as well. I have used my 1025R to tear down/demolish two agricultural buildings. It works like a little dozer. The two hydraulic cylinders on the bucket make the lifting and pushing well balanced - a real plus. I was surprised to hear you say the Kubota could lift more - but that may just be on the stats sheet. Really appreciate your candid comments on your videos - you are honest and even point out your own mistakes. Only real men do that... It adds volumes to your credibility. Thanks again. Let others have their own opinions - all opinions have some value. Just don't cross the line into criticism like some others do. Keep up the good work.
Michael from Canada
I’m a long time Deere owner-I need a new tractor and these were the two I was considering. Thank you!
It may be helpful to do a comparison of the two tractors from a maintenance / engine compartment access standpoint. In other words, how does the hood open? How do you access the dip stick, radiator, hydraulic fluid level, battery, water separator, air cleaner and the various other components that require periodic checking. I don't recall ever seeing anyone talk about or show these items.
EOSJOE - Good idea!
This would be a great idea considering I do most of my own services.
You must not watch tractor videos. That's all people do
Keep up the good work Tim your doing just fine.😀
Hi Tim,
You have done a great job comparing the two brands!! I have always been a JD fan for a number of reasons including all the time I spent farming 14+ years. My brother had bought a BX24 Kubota. It was an awesome tractor that I really liked except for one thing, which was the treadle pedal.
Keep up the good work!
Hello Tim,Christy and Katriel . I started watching your channel a few weeks back and liked it so I went back to your first video posted and started from there and have got them all watched now and I'm hooked on your videos now , I can't wait to see more . I love hearing your dad talk reminds me of a older contractor that would come by the plant I work at and tell old stories of him growing up . Thank ya'll for the videos and knowledge you are sharing with us all . God bless.
Thanks for the kind words. Dad is in tomorrow’s episode.
Your welcome , it will be nice to see him !
You do a great job tim and people are getting utility tractor sales mixed with BIG tractors sales such as john deere 8rs and massey ferguson 7700 series tractors which is what people are talking about:) love your videos tim!!! Keep it up!
I think the true test of a tractor is how it holds up over time. All the fancy features are only good if they hold up. We had a 3038e but replaced it with a 1999 4400 after having multiple DPF issues. I don't care how nice a tractor is, if it won't run when I need it it's no good to me.
BINGO!
Thank you for the scriptures you put on the end of you're videos!
Thanks for your encouragement!
Just want to thank you for your channel content and the work your family has invested in this channel. Tim @ Cliffside Acres
Love your videos. Thks for sharing.
Great job buddy, keep up the good work!
Thanks great info.I own a kubota Bx23 2004 ,I think you are being fair and I love your expertise.
I own both a B3350 and B2650/BH77 with cabs. They replaced a 2680 and a 23S. The single point hydraulic assembly on the loader leaked on both of them in the 2 years i had them. In fact the 2680 was replaced twice, and it was leaking again when i traded it off. Just wanted to share my experience there, great video Tim...you have entered into dangerous territory haha
I would say you are very fair with your comparison of the two tractors. I was looking at a new John Deere this morning. Looking just looking now.
Great follow up video Tim! I've had my BX2680 since May (15 hours on it now) and it has made that same noise start up and shut down as yours does. If you find out that noise is something wrong, please post it so I can get mine fixed too! Lol
Thank you for being so thorough Tim. Someday it would be great if you could do a comparison between Vinnie and a Steiner 450 as well. I believe they are the only 2 in their class. I know the history, but I have only run Steiners, so seeing them together would be great.
Tim, you're a brave man for tackling this comparison series. While I agree that the closest competitor for the JD 1 series is the Kubota BX, there's just no getting around the fact that the BX is just a little smaller and more lawnmower-ish. That's not to say it's not a good tractor, but it's just geared toward a different job and different owner...it fills a niche that the Deere doesn't really fit in. That being said, they're both great machines. I'd love to have either to accompany my Mahindra 1526 (rebadged Mitsubishi) to take care of the smaller jobs. But there's no convincing most that your tractor is somehow better than theirs.
thenaaks You are correct about the size difference. I have a BX 2380, it fits nicely in my basement. I could fit the JD 1025r there but it would be more difficult. I have two acres and my BX works great. My dad has 19 acres and cuts over 3 he is looking into the JD 1025r.
As a JD Dealer in OZ i can tell you that JD maintains 50% Market share in our region (as per published by governing AG bodies)
Good work with the comparison also. Good to see unbiased opinions.
You're doing a good job Tim, have always enjoyed your vids! I think the JD vs. Kubota debate really boils down to creature comforts, the dealer and what ultimately floats your boat. Overall, I think they are both quite good machines.
They both have there good and bad points. Great Job. Keep the coming. God Bless.
I don't have a dog in that fight. I shopped Kubota and John Deere, when shopping for a new tractor. I chose Kioti; but I still enjoy videos about JD and the "other orange" machines! Keep up the good work Tim & Kristy.
I am really liking this comparison. Great details. I got my bx2370 used at the right price, JD's were running several thousand more. I found each had pros and cons. Just happy I finally have one!
This is a great video series, I bought a 1025R 3 months ago, it was a tough choice between it and the bx. Ultimately the auto connect deck and increased lift capacity of the fel convinced me to buy the 1025. The Deere was also cheaper than the bx in my area.
Great review Tim!
I looked at both the BX and the 1 series. When I decided, I went with the BX because it's a smaller footprint; the JD is just a little too long to fit in my parking spot in the garage, and the loader bucket on the JD is a bit wider, while the BX loader fits perfectly between our cars in the garage.
Great video as always!!!!
Keep up the great videos and ignore the negative comments. Keep doing what you’re doing and stick with the facts.
You do a wonderful job. First time I have seen your videos.
Welcome to our channel. Thanks for the kind words!
Your explanation of how the position control for the 3-point-hitch works explains why my folks had a bungie cord set-up to hold that lever down, on their Kubota. I can see why it would be nice to have a known height for that feature.
I like the way you are comparing these two brands. Either one is a fine tractor and will get the job done for most of the small acreage owners out there.
Hi Tim, thanks for the vids. Bought a 1025R, was a tough choice between that and the Kubota, both were comparable, came down to price (although only couple hundred difference), physical size, "perks" that the dealer threw in and ease of removing/installing the mower and backhoe.
Great video, fun questions from the viewers, great music, wonderful scripture verse
Awesome job thanks for the info.
Thank you for the clarifications.
I truly think you are doing your best on being no bias, IMHO you have achieve that.
FYI, I'm in agreement with the idea of comparing the JD 1025R against the B2601, I strongly think those two are more direct competitors in terms of price, capabilities and features.
Anyway you look at it, it will be nice to see them head to head.
Thank you again for the great content and the hard work.
@Steve Sheldon agree
A similar situation happens with the 2 series vs B series
8:20 Removing one side will allow you to get the implement out. However, you will have to twist the implement. Keep in mind this would only apply to an implement with outside pins, which all mine are.
Owner of a BX2680 and really enjoying this series. Yes on the BX the key on, startup, and shut down sounds just like that. Tractor shakes a lot too during startup and shutdown. In my experience sound and shake is just something that kubota engines do. I used to run a ditch witch SK750 (kubota engine) and has similarities to the BX during start up and shutdown. Keep up the great work!
Yanmars shake on startup and shutdown too.
Very informative
Thank you
I'm no tractor expert but that noise on the Kubota sounds like a pump noise.
yeah at my dealer the pump is $105.00 wich isnt bad
it sounds like a pump or valve and that could be the leak thats aboth the mower deck
Now that you mention it, I would saw a pump too. My BX did have a belt squeal right after I did my 100 hour service, but it was a distinct squeal like you would hear from a wet belt.
It almost has the same sound as if you try to press on the hydraulic pedal with the brakes locked. Maybe the cruise is down a little bit? Sounds Hydro.
Also, could be the fuel cutoff actuator. Turn the key on, turn the key off that's when it happens, that's when the actuators moving.
@@dand33911 agree pedal just barely engaged and oil from fel connect block we will see I hope
Great video!
They are both good been around for a long time and not going anywhere! I have a bx 2380 and it makes that noise too I picked the Kubota over the Deere because of the dealer support and they put a 48 inch deck on the 23 for me and Deere didn’t offer it I’m just really happy to see Orange 🍊 in your barn!! Great job and they are both great tractors!!
For the Squeel noise Often times the alternator belt comes loose on a bx.. even from the factory the tension can be set quite loose.. try tightening that first and see if that stops the noise it’s a 2 minute fix.. My Kubota bx2370 has 585 hours on it and Iv never had such issue.. and I work it HARDD.
Another amazing video hitting all the key points Tim! For some reason I feel like these kinds of videos takes you back to your roots. Not sure why lol
Good comparison and tip
Tim, I’m buying my first sub compact tractor. Your videos have definitely helped me to make my choice. JD 👍
well done Tim
Sounds like hydraulic pump sounds like when you turn all the way agents the stop and keep pressure on it sounds similar thanks for videos
Tim you do a great job love the color green
A lot of great info coming in, good work. Your hydro leak is probably a o ring in the distribution box under the battery. A dont think it is a line because they are enclosed under the floor. Thanks for the video.
Tim thanks we trust what you are doing we all have preferences so some we are not objective on my thoughts keep up the good work
God Bless
PaK
I have a BX 2670 and I had previously a BX 2230 but I never had that noise, the heavy rattle/shake yes but not the groan/squeal
I Truly enjoy your videos, you provide great information, you are honest and genuine. I have recently discovered your videos as I am interested in purchasing a sub compact tractor. I currently have a John Deere 950 4WD but looking for something smaller. I am not partial to any one brand, leaning Kubota at the moment. Thank for all that you do and keep the videos coming.
There are 8 rounds / 11 episodes in this series. Based on your comment, I think you will find these worth your time!
Thanks for watching!
Another good video. Can't wait for the next one!
You earned my sub.
I have a Kubota but I'd sure accept any Green, Red, or Blue tractors on offer.
Top notch info brother 🤙
When I bought my BX I had trouble with the deck height adjustment, too. I also was able to turn the handle clock and counter-clock wise, despite being told by multiple people that it only turns one way. Just like the one you have, I could go both ways and still not hit the top position. I was thinking that I had just lubed the crap out of it but after watching your fix it jogged my memory and that is exactly what I had to do. But, unlike the one you have, after doing turning that bolt in I was unable to turn the handle both directions.
Based on what I see in my area, I would have thought that Kioti held a fairly large percentage of the sub compact market. At least I would have thought they held a solid third. Kubota definitely outsells Deere on sub compacts in this area.
Going back to deck removal, using the front end loader to lift the tractor up while removing the deck is the only thing that makes me not want to light a match. Of course, most of the time I forget this and have already taken the loader off with mowing on my mind. Keep in mind that I don't have a garage, so a concrete floor would certainly make things easier.
Wow, thanks for showing how to adjust the lift height lock thing. Mine will go to TOP but it is REALLY REALLY hard to do.
Not sure I have it solved. It worked for awhile after that adjustment, but now doesn’t work again.
I have found with my bx2380 if there is a 3 pt. Attachment on the deck will not lock in the top position. Deck needs locked up without any attachments on.
@@npm0219 I don't disagree with you Jeff, but if this is true, that sorta defeats the purpose of the 'Top Lock'.
@@botabob once I get it locked up it stays fine and then I can hook up to anything I need. I might check if i can adjust the height again, may have settled in a little. Got 180 hours on it now
@@botabob Mine will lock at the top with an attachment on. Just have to get it "right away" before any "bleed down"
I see now how the BX 3-Point lever differs from the B2301 that I have, very different. The B2301 (and I'm assuming rest of the B Series) has the lever setup like your Deere has with position control. Thanks for another great video Tim!
Looking to buy one or the other. Good comparison, watching all these now.
This is the best review series I've seen. You don't seem to have a biased opinion and I like that. I watch these Green VS Orange comparisons just to learn, and this is helping. I did a lot of research before I purchased my tractor. Yes, I already purchased my choice and I still watch these videos. The one I decided on was base on MY research and MY needs more than a brand following, because I've never owned or operated a tractor in my life. The one I chose was the best one for me. Or perhaps I'm wrong and would have been better off with the other. I know I'm happy with my tractor and am sure it will outlive me. I hope it wont, but it will. I just wish my choice was a better color. Thanks for all your time doing these great videos.
Thanks for the kind words! Don’t worry about your choice. You will love it!! Congratulations!
check hydraulic fluid level for squeak since there is a leak
You know as well as I do. The kubota marketing department is trying to place their smaller framed tractor to a larger frame Deere. Marketing isn't the same as Sales. The B series is framed the same as the 1025 and is also rated between 23-26HP.
Yes the bx is a lawn mower with a bucket the b is a tractor
@@mp40submachinegun81 Yeah, I get what Tim is saying about the MARKETING of these tractors. The problem being that no two manufacturers define sub-compact and compact the same. Further, the consensus of these definitions is all over the map. I tend to look at tractors under 30HP and 2000lbs as being subcompact. 30-50HP as compact.
Next, we need to understand the MARKETING edge of getting customers into a showroom thinking slightly smaller, less expensive tractor, is as capable as a larger more expensive model. When push comes to shove, they can always step up to a B if they need just a little more capability.
Tim would do himself good to get out of the brochures and manufacturer's MARKETING, as being the end all in tractor buying. Heck, it isn't the end all of buying anything. I've eaten a lot of food that was touted as being World's Best, it wasn't.
@@mp40submachinegun81 at the very least it has an smaller frame than the 1025R.
Tim I would agree with you 100% on each comment in this video.
The noise you are hearing could be one of two things. It could be your hydro pump or as you pointed out, you have hydro fluid leaking. It could be on the belt and causing the beginning and ending squeal noise as it slips. My first hunch is the pump though.
Tell Neil that instead of worrying about John Deere using a plastic hood he should worry about his delivery people delivering a tractor without it falling off the trailer 😂. He’ll know what you’re talking about lol.
Neil and team made that situation right. They did a great job 'cleaning up' after that one. This is the sign of a quality dealership. Admit mistakes and fix them.
They did. I do wish they immediately requested the machine be returned by the same idiot that delivered it upon the BUYER reporting the incident, instead of leaving the poor man with a new ruined tractor and “we’ll come out and fix it later” They did make it right though and that’s the way it should be. Just busting Neil’s balls... he does it all the time to competition so it’s fair game 😎
