This isn't the first time, either-- you can find documentation of this dating back several years. It's truly disgusting.
It could be due to the number of scams that people are trying to run by taking advantage of the situation. I know tumblr isn't the most reliable source, but there have already been posts circulating about people being sent messages about campaigns that weren't legitimate. If this is the case, it absolutely sucks that normal people who desperately need help are getting caught in the crossfire
