    1. Yes please to more soaps with the Russian piping tips! This one turned out awesome and I can imagine it would look so cool if you used it for other flowers (like a flower bed or vegetable patch or a tulip field)
    2. Yes please to sprouts - my uncle bakes them with balsamic vinegar and mustard seeds and they are delicious and consumed in dangerous quantities.
    3. Yes please to more weird facts. 'Military bases are not counted as states' is going on the party icebreaker list, so thank you for the education.

    After getting the email this morning and seeing Brussels sprouts soap was one of the designs and I hadn't seen a video of it, I figured it was like other times you've repeated a design and just didn't make a video, so I watched the old one. Now this one did come out, two videos for me!
    Fun fact about Brussels sprouts, a newer varietal came out something like 15-20 years ago that was less bitter than what used to be the norm. So if you hated them when you were a kid, even aside from the potential of those original ones being made with an inferior recipe and the fact that as you grow your taste for bitter foods will increase, they really might just objectively be better! Fried in a cast iron and then baked is the way to go for Brussels sprouts, but it is pretty interesting to see all the variations on seasonings that people use. We just use olive oil and garlic, but bacon sounds amazing.

    I can't believe how good this soap looks, I really liked the low top, single tier piping. The sprouts looked great.
    Brussel sprouts aren't really common in my country, I've only eaten them once in a cheese fondue and they were only boiled and it had a weird smelly taste and rubbery texture, but I'm a firm believer of giving all vegetables a chance because some olive oil and chopped garlic work wonders 98% of the time

    Hi Katie, I have a story like your story about being born on base. My mother was born in 1919 (I'm 61.) She was born in Canada, just over the border of New York State. Now, at this time, Canada didn't issue birth certificates, they used your baptismal certificate instead. But my mother moved to the US when an infant, before she was baptized. But in the US, a birth certificate was issued at birth, so my mother had neither. So when she applied for Social Security, the government had no record of her existence. So my parents had to jump through all kinds of hoops, getting afadavits from siblings, traveling to her town of birth for statements, etc. But in the end, they recognized her personhood! lol! Love your videos.

    YES please Katie on the Russian Piping tips!! Also, for a few years now, I like to cut my brussels into little slivers, put them in a skillet, add in some chopped onions, and once the brussels & onions are both cooked, (The onions clear & the brussels are a light brown), I add in my 2 eggs. For a really awesome scrambled egg combo. And yes, a little bit of cheese, pepper, whatever seasoning you choose, makes it all perfect.

My brother and I were a couple of weird kids, I guess, because our parents never had trouble with getting us to eat vegetables (except artichokes, eggplant, or zucchini...still hate those) Carrots, Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli, Spinach...Peas, Corn, Garbanzo Beans...Yes please! But also, sauteing brussel sprouts up with bacon is AMAZING! Or roasting them in the oven.

    Just saw the try guys collab and it was so good! Also, Katie mentioned she had sensitive skin, I also have very very sensitive skin (like miceller water burns it), I was wondering what soaps of hers (or any brands ig??) that would be good?

    • @Annie-er7ep
      @Annie-er7ep Před 3 lety +1

      @Rosa Thorne I'd suggest giving any of her soaps a try. I even love her diamond soaps which are glycerin based and great for showering. Just pick up one of her cold process bars that you like the fragrance of and try it. I started trying cold process soaps last fall and wow my hands are so much better. I have super sensitive skin that rashes sort of like eczema at times or just gets super dry, red and cracked. All the extra handwashing from the pandemic was killing my hands. But I tried a bar of cold process soap someone had given me for Xmas that'd been sitting in my towel drawer making it smell nice for 2 years. And it converted me. I then tried Katie's soaps and really enjoy how my skin loves the difference. Her bars are more than just adorable soaps they're super bubbly and gentle. You can't go wrong. If you're sensitive to fragrance look for an unscented bar online. But I've found that most of the bigger soap makers like Katie use much better fragrance oils without things like phalates or other harsh things in fragrance that big brand soap companies use. So you might find like me that your skin is ok with them. Before this I was using Ivory or dove soaps cause it was the gentlest soap I thought I could find and I couldn't handle scented soaps. But I'm never going back to that waxy crap! If Katie is sold out try Missouri River Soaps (really creamy with coconut milk and cocoa butter), Snoblove (the silkest, buttery feeling bars and very pretty feminine designs), or if you're in Canada try La Fille Del Mar from Ariane or Quench made by Jerika. I've not been able to try the 2 in Canada yet but they've both had alot of happy customers and make great soaps. Sorry this is such a long response. I've kinda fallen in love with handmade soaps and wish someone had told me years ago how much misery my skin could've avoided.

      @@Annie-er7ep Thank you for your amazing and thoughtful reply! I am UK based and tended to use the sensitive gel soap because I found usual bars way too drying, but recently I started getting eczema-type rashes on my hands more frequently because of the pandemic. I'm gonna try getting my hands on some cold process soap like you recommended! Hopefully one of Katies :) I'll try unscented first just to be sure, but all the soap companies you mentioned sound super lovely, so I'll look them up too!

    • @Annie-er7ep
      @Annie-er7ep Před 3 lety +1

      @@rosathorne3195 you are so welcome! I hope you find some that help heal your hands! Mine before switching had these big scaly red dry patches on the tops that no amount of lotion was helping for months and after switching soaps the patches healed and were gone within 2 to 3 weeks. Now my hands rarely need any lotion (only in the coldest part of winter after being outside) and they're super soft. :) Shipping from the US to the UK might be pricy. I'd try some of the amazing soap makers in the UK first to see how your skin responds. In the UK I'd suggest I Dream in Soap made by Lisa, Eden's Secret made by Karen, or Future Primitive Soap Co made by Tiggy. I've not tried any of these soaps but they have lots of loyal customers and they also have CZcams channels if you enjoy watching the soap making. There's probably many other good options in the UK I'm just not as familiar. Let me know how you like them!

      @rosathorne3195 Před 3 lety

      @@Annie-er7ep hi, sorry for the delay in responding, I've been trying so many different soaps, both the companies you recommended were amazing! My hands have never felt smoother since switching, I also found a local company that uses goat's milk and it makes my hands so soft! When I've had to make the brief swap to gel soaps, even sensitive ones, like at hotels, it makes my hands go back to dry, red and irritated, so I will be making this permanent change. Thank you for your help and advice! :)

Btw, try the collard 🥬 not only are they so good for you but there are many ways to be able to eat them, like using them as the wrap in a veggie roll, or braised greens. If you get a mess of different greens and sauté some garlic and onions add a dash of balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, a squeeze of lemon and some lemon zest, a tad of mustard and honey and then a pinch of cayenne. Then add some cooked beets and hard boiled egg. Yum! It is sooo good. Have a great day!
