Wow, I think I saw this at the perfect moment. I've been writing lyrics and songs off and on for way longer than I'd like to admit. Recently I started to really change my perspective on life, my abilities, what people can do when they go for what they want and the power of drive and vision and actually acting on it. I was thinking about getting more serious about my songwriting when I came across your channel. It seems that this is the approach that you rarely applied in your works (correct me, If I am wrong). I think, you should try the acoustic pop route (like Adele, Sam Smith), with the piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drums (other elements may be arbitrarily added). You have friends musicians, money to hire musicians if needed, so I encourage you to record something naive and acoustic. No need of those electronic quantized hip hop beats and other crap that everyone does: it only overloads the mix and takes away the vocal timbre. Try to develop the Surrender song style, move in this acoustic pop direction for some time. The acoustic arrangements should breath life in your songs, and the overall acoustic pop genre will encourage you to work on the principle “melody drives the arrangement” rather than “loop drives the melody”, to the contrary of what 98 percent of “beatmakers” do today. You can also make acoustic versions of the best songs that you have, and you will instantly see, which songs are better. So, to sum up, acoustic approach is what is needed for your songs to shine. Don’t burry them in cliched overproducing, let the arrangement breath, and that will accentuate your voice. In your place, I would try that. Good luck.
