- About 62 million people along the East Coast are at risk of severe weather on Monday. The threat comes after more than 20 people died in Memorial Day weekend storms, when upwards of 60 reported tornadoes touched down across a dozen states. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are driving and flying home on Memorial Day, with a storm system causing flight delays and cancellations along much of the East Coast. It comes after the TSA said it screened the most passengers ever in a single day. NBC News' Priscilla Thompson and Priya Sridhar have the latest.

Yes, but I'd worry more about the food supply. Floods affecf crops as does hail which led to higher beef costs etc.

So what do all the California transplants think about all this weather? Either tornados, hurricanes, fires, droughts, floods and climate change is just starting.
If they moved they have money while they drive up costs for everyone else. After ruining their own state. So they will be fine.
We have fire, drought, floods, just swap earthquakes out for tornadoes and hurricanes, and ofc $6/gallon gasoline.
Great question my friend. Tornadoes, though smaller, seem a lot more powerful than other natural disasters and events. Seeing the destruction they cause is jaw-dropping. The San Andreas fault isn't far and it shakes here but hoping the suburban, single-family detached house environment that surrounds me spares me and the loved ones. As for fires, that's in faraway forested parts of the state. And too much inland to be directly impacted by hurricanes or tsunamis. Droughts, yes, but it's more of a gradual rather than imminent threat. Regardless, is there a place in the whole country that is spared from some kind of threatening natural event?

Nothing Hollywood has made compares to what it looks, feels like in real life!! It wouldn’t surprise me if everyone who was present was left with PTSD… Lord knows I would be permanently affected!

Over the past 5 decades the average death toll per year in the US from storms is 40k -50k. This is nothing new.
We should build an underground community in tornado alley only. Why continue building on the surface and allowing tornadoes to devastate lives?

The first underground city. Most likely in the future underground cities will be a reality due to severe natural disasters or nuclear war.
An underground society? That sounds super expensive, plants can't grow without natural light like that, tornadoes and storms can rip up the ground, exposing people to the surface again. Floods and water continuously leak through the ground, it really sounds like a nightmare, I'd just move to a better state.
Maybe consider the logistics for more than two seconds.
Tornadoes raging across the Midwest, go figure, who could ever imagine that! In a few months from now, the Hurricanes will come for all those who build a house on the flood plains. Both sets of people do however have a few things in common. One thing is for sure, as soon as they get the insurance money they will rebuild in the same spot for the 5th or 6th time🤯, I find it amazing just how high the education levels have risen..

The weather increases after the solar eclipse. NYC had an earthquake a few days later, the Midwest flattened. A small town got hit in 2021, same town same area flattened again.
ALL COMPLETELY UNCONNECTED. eclipses have absolutely no influence on the weather or plate tectonics (earthquakes)

If you’re in California then you must be living off grid or under a rock, most of our cities flooded the past 2 years in a row in case you don’t remember. In 2022 it rained for nearly 9 months continuously which is unprecedented to us over here in Southern CA. In 2024 entire neighborhoods were under water. And it’s only going to get worse. But sure, you’re only worried about your package. The rest of us who live in reality are concerned about California’s infrastructure.
