  • One person can make all the difference. Miss Lily Moffatt has invested two valuable years of her time and energy in supporting young Welsh miner Morgan Evans. Nicola Walker (The Split, Spooks) features in our revival of The Corn is Green 7 Apr-11 Jun 2022: www.nationalth...
    --
Miss Lily Moffat arrives in rural North Wales, determined to help young local miners out of poverty by teaching them to read and write.
Lily soon spots talent in the unruly Morgan Evans, but when she faces growing resistance from the community, she does everything in her power to forge him a new future.
Emlyn Williams’ semi-autobiographical play, is given a bold new staging by director Dominic Cooke (The Normal Heart, Follies) in its first London revival for 35 years.
Filmed in rehearsals at the National Theatre in March 2022.

I only recently discovered Unforgotten, and it was one of the best series I've seen in a long time. Nicola Walker was fabulous in her ordinariness as a human being, a mother and a daughter, while holding down a very important job. I was gutted when season 4 was over.

In the old days before the Emmys insisted on covering all (often crummy) media, she would have been at least been nominated for her brilliant work in Unforgotten. For fans of Nicola Walker who are able to access BBC radio 4 on iplayer can I recommend a 6x6 series of monologues written by Nick Walker (no relation) and perfectly delivered by Nicola. They are called ‘Anneka Stranded’. An attempt to bring them to tv didn’t really work since tv is a watching medium whereas just listening means the character is talking directly to you, and you are able to absorb every wonderful nuance which Nicola brings to these tales. Please try them.

When and where will this be seen? I am a big fan of Nicola Walker and will try to see her whenever I can.

    Seems like a great performance.
(Pedantic, but the title should probably have the phrase "any more" (with a space) rather than the adverb "anymore" since most people would consider "say" transitive here -- but it's not a massive error.)

Such a brilliant performer, isn't she! And powerful words too.

Bette Davis was marvelous--perfect, really. Kathryn Hepburn was very disappointing (perhaps by comparison). Never got to see Ethel Barrymore. Love Nicola Walker, and sure do hope this will end up on film!

Excellent production but Nicola should have had at least one costume change from start to finish!

Saw it this week and in my opinion even nicola couldn't save it. Predictable plot, also an elitist one, her other pupils don't get the attention they deserve which should not be less because of lower potential, the write/narrator presence on stage is a conceit and confuses issues, the idea the players sit at the side of the stage when lines are complete reminds me of pretentious youth theatre from generations ago and the male voice choir is wholly under used, and their "singing" is really more of a hum. I've loved everything she has ever been.

I literally can't stand her, her acting is bad, always the same whatever she does, but I am sure she is a lovely person. I make sure I watch nothing she is in... This is my opinion which I believe I am allowed.

She's a great actress but this segment is awful. If you want to see someone "acting" then this is it. False, untrue, no depth. Why show it?
