  • Amble Development Trust has been leading the regeneration of Amble, a coastal town in Northumberland for 30 years.
    Through their incredible work, the town has been transformed from an ailing coal port to a thriving tourist destination.
    From the opening of a lobster hatchery to running a community newspaper, Amble Development Trust are very much the heart and soul - and voice - for their town.

    For those who don’t know how the town got its nickname , in 1935 when the RMS Mauretania passed by on her last voyage to the breakers yard in rosyth, the town sent a Telegraph to the ship reading “Still the finest ship on the seas”, to which the crew of the ship replied “to the last and Kindliest port in England , greetings and thanks”
