When UPA accepted the deal in March 2012, each aircraft was priced at Rs 538 Crore. It was just a bare airframe with Radar. No weapons, nothing.
The pilot could detect an enemy plane, sure, but would have nothing on board to challenge it.
A price escalation clause was also added to it. So by May 2015 the price would have escalated to Rs 737 Crore per aircraft.
Post weaponisation, the price again would have gone up. As much as up to Rs 2,000 Crore per aircraft.

The current govt. has procured the bare aircrafts at Rs 670 Crore.
Post weaponisation, with modern-day weaponry, it costs around Rs 1600 Crore.

Is the year of Modiji' visit to the USA cooect?.The Pokhran test was conducted in May durnig 11-13 May 1998. Kargil war had started on 3 May 1999 and ended on 26 July 1999. First NDA government started on 19 March 1998 and lasted upto 22 May 2004. The next election was in 2004. In this video, Modiji refers to Kargil war too. So, if he had visited the US IN 1999, it should have been between May 1999 to Dec. 1999.
Atal Ji first became PM for 13 months but Govt couldn't pass the floor test by only 1 vote. Then he got re-elected and formed the govt for 5 years. This interview is before Kargil war.
