-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.

Thank you :)
Thanks❤
You're welcome :)
I made a mug rug tutorial on my blogspot crochet blog FripperyofJenni awhile back and your tutorial helped me to see what I did wrong. I made the mug rug with stripes and squares. I see now that the mug rug would look better if I dropped the color yarn I am not using when making the squares instead of carrying it through the row. It really helped me get the concept thank you. You can find it on my Pinterest FripperyofJenni.
You are welcome :)
I love how u work the tail ends along the way, it haunts me just thinking of doing all of them in the end of the project 😢
Thanks for sharing this tip, I've always struggled to change colours neatly in my projects so this will be very helpful :) also I think you should give knitting a try, Im currently knitting my first scarf and I'm really enjoying it! Once you get the hang of it, knitting becomes very addictive 😁
You're very welcome, I can already knit I just prefer crochet :)
@@bellacococrochet ohhh I see that's cool!
I know im randomly asking but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Leandro Ronan instablaster ;)
@Lucian Kannon Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is awesome. I always have trouble with color changing. Thank you!
Also what kind of yarn is this? It looks so soft and elastic. I would like to find this here in Germany 😍
Wooow!
thank you!!!! you saved my new work from being a total mess
You are very welcome :)
Holy shit this is so helpful i love it thank u :3
You're welcome :)
When you are done with the second colour (in the second method) and want to switch back to the first colour for the rest of the design- how do you finish off the second colour? Just cut the thread? do a knot? Thanks!
I really needed this, I'm making a blanket and I'm nearing the start of the color change row (it's a big square in the middle of the blanket)
And I have no idea how to change color, especially since it's popcorn stitch, single crochet, and then different color popcorn stitch. Which idek how I'll do that
It's really simple to change colour - as shown in the video you just need to pull through the new colour when making the final part of the last stitch. For the pattern you describe, you'll need to pull through the new colour to complete the single crochet, and then pull through your new colour when working the final part of the popcorn stitch. Instead of cutting your yarn, I would recommend carrying the yarn along by working over it 😊
I always struggle with changing the colour and securing them when I finish with it this is a life saver!!!
Also what wool do you use and where do you get it??
Glad it was of help to you :)
Do you have a video for how to work a border into that with the tail? Also how would you handle the end of yarn that is left over if you’re not doing a border (so it wouldn’t just be hanging there lol)?
Before you work a border I would recommend sewing in all your ends as shown in my video here: czcams.com/video/6qXEcQj_0L0/video.html That way you won't have to contend with bits of yarn getting in the way 🥰
Do you have a tutorial on color changes in the round?
Thank you so much for this video! it is super helpful for my first project using multiple colors. What should i do if i am using two colors A and B but i run out of the A color and need to attach more? Thank you again :)
You’re welcome! 😊 If you run out of a colour you can attach a new ball of yarn in exactly the same way as you would if you were changing colours.
Fab video as always! Don't suppose you have a video showing colour change in the middle without having to carry the yarn at all please? I'm making a blanket which is 121 stitches wide and has 3 stars and a moon in random places on it, which i want yellow, but i don't want to carry the yarn through 90 odd stitches to do the next colour change on the next row (really hope this makes sense? 😅) thank you
You can change colour in the normal way by pulling through the new colour in the last part of the stitch, but then leave your contrast colour loose instead of carrying it along. When you work back along the row you can pick it back up, but you may not be able to hide the colour change as well as you can by carrying it along 😊
Hello there! I am working on a project with moss stich. The main color is grey. I would like to include a green stripe of two rows just to break the gray. Is there a technique without cuting the grey yarn? There will not be a boarder around it. I am using a 3.0 mm hook.
Thank you for your attention.
You can leave your main colour attached and then pick it back up again at the end of your two rows of green, by pulling it through when you make the final part of your last stitch. You would need to work a border (even a really simple border of double crochet stitches) to completely hide the yarn carried up the side though 😊
Thank you for the easy tutorial. What's the neatest way to change colors for a hat where the bottom edge will turn up at the bottom? I'm working the rows verticle to make it ribbed instead of spiraling and there will be an alternating color band at the bottom.
You're welcome 😊 I think for a hat worked in the way you describe, I would work a simple border of double crochet stitches along the edge. If you have a look at the tapestry crochet technique, you can alternate your two colours as you go. I demonstrate how to work tapestry crochet in my cushion CAL here: czcams.com/video/DN8Yii_w0AA/video.html
@@bellacococrochetThank you. I will give it a try. I think the yarn for the first hat is a bit too chunky for it, but I should be able to do it on the next two that use a lighter weight yarn.
How do you make sure the tail end of the new color doesn't slip back out? I'm having problems with everything being too loose on the colour changes :(
It can be tricky to get the hang of at first but the trick is to hold onto the tail end with the hand holding your yarn as you work. Every five or so stitches you can stop crocheting and gently pull on the tail end to make sure it's not too loose and poking out in between the stitches 😊
What about the bits of colour that are out of place , like for example maybe the second row of orange when you look at it you can see there is orange bits sticking out , so not in line . Is there a way to eliminate this to stop it from looking so messy ? If you get what I mean ?
Thank you
Is there any disadvantage to weaving in the ends this way as you work? I’m wondering why this isn’t typically the way it’s done because it seems so much easier.
Depending on the stitch you're working, the ends can sometimes be visible if you look really closely when they're weaved in as you go like this. It's down to personal preference whether or not this is something that would bother you, and whether you'd prefer to sew in your ends the traditional way instead 😊
I'm new please need help with a pattern for stitch used in thickness of items when wanted for added for heat protection cant fine anywhere
Have you looked at my tutorial for the Thermal Stitch? This is a great stitch to use for warm items 😊 You can find my video here: czcams.com/video/KPpVBkxd_WQ/video.html
Does the half double help with the project not get to stiff when having yarn run fully thru as ya go for mod color switches? My one raven square pattern became thick and stiff cuz of carrying yarn thru.
If you’re pulling through the new yarn as you’re making the last part of the stitch you should find that this doesn’t affect the thickness of the work at all, as you’re not pulling through the old yarn so it’s a single strand still. I do have another technique for changing colours that you might like to have a look at: czcams.com/video/YTZpaLROlCA/video.html 😊
I m sorry but once you are done adding your coloured section, how do you hide the remaining row? thank you and awesome video
You're welcome 😊 You should carry across your non working yarn by crocheting over it as you go; once you've finished the contrast colour you can either carry it on to the end of the row or drop it to the back of your work, ready to pick back up again on the following row 😊
I see the peach through in the back ad when you go the other way it will show in the front
I don't know how to fix it it's navy and white Yankees banket
If you're carrying your yarn along and working over it, it's important to give it a little tug every few stitches to keep it nice and taut (but not so hard that it causes the work to bunch up). This will make the colour less noticeable 😊
Would this work for super chunky yarn
Yes, you can use this method for any weight yarn 😊
What do you do with the lose ends in the middle of your work when you’re finished? I don’t understand that part :(
You can sew them in as you normally would 😊 I have a tutorial showing how to sew your ends in here: czcams.com/video/gpD-ZhfZGao/video.html
Is there a way to change color with slip knot?
To change colours I would recommended using the method shown in this video, or trying a magic knot. I have a tutorial for that here: czcams.com/video/15hqoR0KJHA/video.html but bear in mind that the colour change can be less precise with this method 😊
What about if you are working on the round
If you're working in the round you can still change colour in the way shown here, by pulling through your new colour when making the final part of a stitch 😊
@@bellacococrochet Whenever I do this in the round it starts to shift directions. Idk what I'm doing wrong.
Can u make a vedio of pattern with changing color in middle of the work??
This video does show you how to change colour mid row at 10:21 :)

Confused!
this is not relevant to this video but could you give advice or do video on how to sell your projects? i live in small town of 10,000 people and hard to sell a crochet throw that is 35 by 45 inches for 40 dollars which is only twice my cost. 75% of people here are low income. W
here can i market these on the internet?

How are you supposed to see anything when you put all that writing over what you are doing
If you are taking about the subtitles you can turn these off :)
Hard to understand - too fast. Signs to pause video are very annoying.
I'm sorry that you do not understand the tutorial and find it too fast, have you tried slowing down the video?
When I want to make something similar, the threads at the bottom become short and the threads at the top become longer. What is the reason? 😢🧶🌝⚘
It may just be the way you are pulling on the yarn as you crochet; if you hold the back of the threads it helps to keep them the right length 😊
