      To those watching now. My plan would be to force door down and apply a clamp or vice grips right above door roller to hold it hard down on each side then go out and spray top jamb. After that you can release clamps and let the door relax and finish up. Luckily I am replacing the jamb trim/weatherstrip on the sides and top so will remove the old, spray door and trim separate. And install the trim/weatherstrip and spot touchup the nails when installing the new trim.

    Pro Painter says there is no way to get the edges painted... because all they want to do is spray.
    Sure there is....Get on a step ladder with the door up and use a 4" roller or sash brush to do the edges when the door is up. It's a little tricky but makes a much better finished job. I do it first, let it dry, then the next day lower the door and paint the whole door. Similar to cutting in a ceiling when painting a room.

    Nice work! I have white doors I want to paint black. All the videos I've watched, no one seems to paint the doors behind the top and side weather stripping. It's also currently white, and I thought I'd replace with black. Is there a reason you don't paint these parts?

    • @PaintBoss
      @PaintBoss  Před 4 lety +6

      Yes we do, as u could see in the video we push the door down and when the door is rolled about waist high it will expose that white inch or 2. Another way we do it is if the weather strip is really tight against the door, simply roll up the door and grab a ladder and paint the sides and tops from above the door while it is up and laying flat.Thanks for the comment and let me know if you have any questions 😊

    • @JayDman
      @JayDman Před 4 lety +1

      @@PaintBoss Yes and that makes sense now. It is tight, and it's more of the sides that wouldn't get it rather than the top. Painting those areas while the door is up is a good idea, thank you!

    • @PaintBoss
      @PaintBoss  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello Dimitri, thanks for the questions, no problem at all, great questions. So it always depends on different circumstances, but in this case we did pressure wash the doors prior to shooting the video, always a good idea. You can also sand by hand and then blow off with a blower to clear dust. I always like to do a sticky light coat followed by a heavier coat for final, but in some cases clients just want 1 coat, so as long as the door is not west or south facing (direct sun) and we are shooting a similar color that has been painted already, I think 1 heavy coat is ok when recoating doors. 2 is always the best, but if you are doing a color on color recoat using a good paint should these doors should hold up until the client want to change color💪 thanks for the comment

      @PaintBoss  Před 2 lety

      Hello Tammy, thanks for the question. No we do not add any water to our paint. I highly recommend not adding water to exterior paint as it can change the sheen or change warranty. With an airless sprayer you don't need to water down any paint to spray it. If you are using a cup gun or hvlp then that is when you would thin your paint a bit. Thanks for the comment 👍🙏
