- On a spring afternoon in 1989, a crush developed at the Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield resulting in the deaths of 96 Liverpool fans attending the club's FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
After a long and emotional legal journey, Hillsborough match commander David Duckenfield was found not guilty of gross negligence manslaughter of 95 Liverpool fans.
Due to the law at the time, there can be no prosecution over the death of the 96th victim, Tony Bland.
The BBC’s North of England Correspondent Judith Moritz speaks to the families, friends and survivors of the Hillsborough tragedy and reflects on their 30 years of heartbreak.

Duckenfield says it was an "omission". It wasn't an omission, it was a lie.
Some of these comments are sickening. Fans of rival clubs hating Liverpool fans and saying they deserved it are sick. People need to remember that it’s a game of football and each person that died or was injured in any sort of way are human like the rest of the world
Ben Robinson Exactly. Well said.
Agree ben
Ben Robinson fuck off you gobshite
I remember the 39 fans that killed by so called Liverpool fans and you want me to feel sorry for Liverpool no way
It wasn’t caused by ticketless fans. The whole of the leppings lane terrace was actually under capacity, it was caused by the poor distribution of the fans due to police incompetence.
Hi,
What did you think of the documentary called Anne?

It was caused by the drunk fans.
It *should* transcend allegiance to any particular team. Ultimately football fans died by supporting their team. Each and every football fan should stand with them.
God bless the families and friends of the Hillsborough disaster.
The City of Liverpool are absolutely incredible! X
The drunk fans caused the deaths.
@@MarkHarrison733, I am concerned about your stammer.
You're welcome!
@@paigeleigh2554 So glad Sir Bernard Ingham refused to apoogise for telling the truth about the drunk fans with forged tickets.
@Mark Harrison , I'm still concerned about your memory and stammer.
A very good afternoon to you!
@@MarkHarrison733so have you done actual research in the year since you posted this or are you still ignorant?
For 96 justice!
Unlawful killing and no one is accountable. Disgrace.
@Cool Like The Fonz no the one who allowed it
@Cool Like The Fonz not the same here is it
I remember when Liverpool fans murdered 39 fans in 1985 and only one Liverpool fan is charged
They haven’t got justice though have they! It’s still ongoing. Bbc news again!

I would have canceled the game
They did cancel the game. It was packed as it was, but then a Liverpool player hit the bar. Which made all the fans rush forwards in excitement. I remember it like it was yesterday. Seeing people lying on the floor and some with coats over their heads being carried away. I remember being with my dad trying to get a phone to ring my mum to let her know what was happening. The Sheffield people did well, as the locals allowed us to use their house telephones to call love ones. The police had no communication with anyone. They led 96 people to their grave.

LFC disowned the League Cup to participate in a competition in a country that has the highest stadium related deaths in the world...hypocrisy 🤔
There’s no such thing as choosing anything “of your own free will” - every choice you make is a confluence of influences in your brain. There is no “you” making independent choices. The idea that someone is complelled by something would be the same if she had chosen not to be a barrister. Free will is an illusion. You’re being determined by all kinds of factors whether directly or indirectly. If you want to blame someone blame sports stadiums being privately owned. If people don’t have to pay for cost of admission then thd aradium would be be built for NEED not GREED and would be built to capacity. If you privatize the NHS people will lose coverage. Fund the NHS everyone will be coverage it’s not that complicated. Same logic applies to stadiums
On more than one account I've seen 3 2 football and one music and what's worse is its not the tunnel it's the pushy people sick human sick.
